Roger that. Thanks.

The universe is very alternative. If you would read the campaign description or if you would have read the supporting documents you would have seen that the universe is very alternative. There's quite a background story to it. Obviously, you might have missed that, and on the mission 1 probably you are missing the WP2. The next update will have the zones reworked so they allow for errors like this. The zone radius was setup at 3000 meters, they are already doubled and quadrant instead of circles. There is quite enough information in the briefings if they are read and followed. However, conversations like this are the reason I did not wanted that campaign to be fully localized. No offence to you guys, but I'm just not able to to support you and digest the feedback properly. Relying on google translate is not accurate, not in aviation terms anyway.

Suggestion for a next campaign
SorelRo replied to Capt. Caveman's topic in MiG-21bis Battle of Krasnodar Campaign
That's possible. Don't know if it's suited for the next one. It's for the Harrier. Plenty of information on the MFD's on that plane. Cheers, Sorel -
Make sure that your turn from WP2 to WP3 is tight enough. When you get the order to get low you have two options, you dive and turn and stall your engine and most likely die, or you do a split S and dive and go for the WP3. Note that the WP is the village on the left of the airport. Should be easy to see it and navigate there.

Working on it already. Just want to make sure it's doable from a navigation standpoint and trigger standpoint. A lot of these missions have quite a lot of winds, so you will be drifting a lot.
-
It is challenging especially when you have drift. I was running some tests yesterday, and I think i can get somewhere with it. But it's a pain, the MIG wants to kill you all the time. If you have to do trigonometry while staying alive it gets quite ......interesting.

Question before buying the campaign
SorelRo replied to dggoofy's topic in F-5E Black Sea Resolve '79 Campaign
The first one doesn't. There are other 3 or 4 missions where you jump in the hot cockpit due to timing and how the scenario works out. Other than that it's cold and dark all the way. -
I'll have a look and i'll let you know.
-
They have to fly a certain speed otherwise they fly funny, and fully loaded at that alt they plug in the burners.
-
Shouldn't be the Serbian skins on that one. Probably skins got updated and messed up in the mission. I'll check/change for the next update. Not the first time this happens with the Mig-21 when it got messed up. If you have to fly with AB the whole time I'm assuming you are joining them a bit too low and too slow. I'm sticking close to them at 98-100% and have the AB when the F-5's are moving close so I can sweep front. I end up after engagement with just enough to get home.

Just to clarify this a bit more. My contact with ED is NineLine. When I told him about what I was trying to do, probably more than a year ago and asked him about how I should go about languages I got nothing. No guidance or feedback. Fast-forwarding some months when I submitted the campaign I specified that it is not localized, Reasons for this are explained above. The campaign is in English, it just have voices in Russian for immersion. I see it in the store as advertised as localized. How it got there like this. I have no clue. Sorry for the hassle guys.

How long does it take for you to take off? the SU-24 is flying towards you, and you can use your radar to find it. I'll run a few tests tonight and i'll let you know.
-
I'm not opposed to do it in the future. I want to improve this, when the map drawing tools are arriving and so on. So there will be at least one big iteration. Maybe I can get some help from you guys and do it all the way through.
-
Roger that. I'll give you a buzz. Thanks.

This is something that i'm trying to master as well and put it in a proper documentation. I have to be honest, when I have tried it didn't worked consistently enough for me to put it out. Instrument navigation would be needed in maybe 4 or 5 missions. The most important part would be the return leg to the base, and I believe that's done properly.

Thanks so much for this. I live by the motto "everyday is a school day" although I hated school when I was young. These first two campaigns are a first for me. The third one I'm doing i used all the feedback from here and I believe is closer to what BD and Reflected are producing. So, to me, it's always good to hear feedback. If i can respond back and show that I listen it's all good. cheers,

I'd love to do this fully localized with Russian and English, but I just don't have the grasp of the language, and at this point I can't ask for someone to work for me. I had difficulties with the language where the first translation was crap and i got a whole lot of flak for it. And then there's the matter of support. I'll have to be able to support people where we would difficulties communicating with. All these campaigns that you see on the market barely cover 50% of the work and time we put in.

Hi guys, Until I get to modify the briefings accordingly I changed the supporting documentation to give a bit more clarity on what the players have to achieve in each mission, where I felt the need to clarify it more. There are available to download here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1vibRGWKqXa8gqxXsGtmMgnpgCl94VV4g?usp=sharing For the first 3 missions that are not combat heavy I have explained what is expected from the player to do, also for the rest of the missions I have put Dev notes at the end of the briefing where you can better understand what needs to be done and what are the missions pass/fail criteria. Some of them are a bit more complicated than "destroy this" They are tied in how the flights around you behave when you are able to clear the skies in front of them or not. I understand that it can be confusing and frustrating. Also, reaching some of the waypoints, before engaging the enemy can be crucial in some of the missions and the Mig-21 is not an easy thing to navigate. Over the sea you can use the NAVAIDS at the airports to go around it, and over land I placed the waypoints on what I think are quite distinguishable places. Villages, promontories, and so on. I hope this will make your life better and that you will enjoy this. I don't believe that the first round of updates for this campaign made it to the release. Still waiting for clarification from the guys at ED. With the new addition of the drawing tools my plan is to continue to improve this campaign as more of these tools are being made available to us. Cheers,
-
I understand your frustration. Clearly i'm not communicating properly what needs to be done in the briefings. I posted on the main forum that I'll re-work the briefings. The first PDF version will be available in the following days and then i'll push it as an update. In my head, this should be clear. You take-off, fly WP1 then instructed you turn to WP2 and navigate to it. Once you reach it it instructs you to go towards WP3, giving you a heading to it and a required altitude. Then, you see what happens. I'll add all those where it seems fit. Cheers, and thanks for the understanding.
-
Hi guys, It was brought to my attention that some of the briefings are not clear enough when it comes to missions objectives. I will work on updating the PDF documentation that is coming with the campaign and publish it here. It should take me about 3 days to have it available as a download link. Also I will add the revised documentation in the briefings and kneeboards. This will take a bit more time but will be available for the next update. Cheers,
-
I'll put the objectives in the kneeboard files. That shouldn't be a problem. I'm assuming that you are drifting on your turn and not reaching the trigger around WP2, that has been adjusted in the update. Flying this thing accurate can be a challenge.

First of all. please post these in the proper forum spot: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/801-sorelro/ . Although skipping missions is your choice and you can play just the way you like it. You are kinda missing a bit of a story when you do that. The first mission tests you on how well you can take off and reach high altitude. Having to blast at full AB all the way to 10000 m is always fun. Second one puts you in a bit of a formation flying, and also sends you to a range where you get to practice your rockets run and gun runs in high crosswind conditions. The third mission, is exactly that. You have to intercept and escort back a reccon flight that is being chased by the F-5's. And it's pretty much the beginning of the conflict.
-
In reality you would have someone to give you a position check, you would know the area of operations by heart, or you would be able to use the NAVAIDS to navigate without any problems. But all those are hard to do in DCS. I would rather drop a carrot than waste 30 minutes being lost. I got lost flying for real and it's not fun. When you have to go 017 and you look at 170 at your compass things don't go too well. They go pretty much in the opposite direction Now, with the introduction of the drawing tools and all the other neat features in the ME. All my campaigns will have another iteration. I may drop some pointers when someone goes off-course and have the player the ability to start them at the beginning of each mission.

That is the Gelendhzik VOR/RSBN, and the numbers are heading and distance. So when you are tuned to the said RSBN and you fly from your waypoint on the heading of xxx at the xx distance from the VOR you will be at the next waypoint. Navigating the Mig-21 is a bit more complicated, but, you know, there's no harm in dropping a carrot on your kneeboard and adjust to your course.
