Thanks a lot man. How good you are with the Harrier?
-
Probably another case of AI doing whatever they are not supposed to do. I swear sometimes I wish I could sprinkle them with holy water or something, they act like they are possessed.
-
Probably re-arming is the one that messes it up. As the final score is given to you as you land. I've never tested this with refuel and rearming as it would take a tad more time to do it in real time. As for the RTB. Some missions will have an RTB message where there are units that can do BDA and send you home. But, as it would happen in RL there are a lot of missions where you go home and wait for the results. It's a hard one to balance, some people want more guidance through this some don't want any at all.

Hi, I just checked that mission and all works as it should be. Most likely you are not hitting a trigger and/or not landing back at the base. You shouldn't touch the units on the bridge, how do you have enough ammo to do that? Maybe send me a track or a copy of your mission results. Cheers,

You can always skip it. Sorry I made it this hard. I even tweaked the pass conditions at the last update so it's easier to get a passing score. As long as you score hits on the two sites and the F-4's are able to hit the SA-3 site and you stay alive it should give you a passing score.

The way this should be flown, and maybe you are doing this but you are just unlucky, once the FAC gives you the order to turn right and follow the valley, turn on the indicated heading. you have a tiny ridge in front of you and a valley opens up, that is clear of enemy forces. you can stay there masked and if you don't drop too low, you should even be able to see the orange smoke from the two targets. That's the moment you can order your flight to engage "Mission and Rejoin". They won't do too much damage but they will take Igla's away from you. Once the FAC tells you to pop, you can go over the ridge and stay low, and attack perpendicular to the valley where the AA guns and Igla's are positioned. I go first for a rocket pass and take the first site out, maintain my heading and jump over the ridge on the other side of the valley dropping flares. I see Igla's soaring past sometimes. I stay low and fly towards the sea for a few seconds, turn and re-acquire the smokes and come for another pass and take the second site with the rockets left or with bombs, this should give enough damage to pass the mission and go on. Sorry it's frustrating for you. I know other players have gone through it and have been successful. I hope this helps.

This update that got published this week should have fixed the "End Mission" bug. The button End mission doesn't work if a map object was destroyed - fixed.
-
This bug should've been fixed with this update.
-
Also, a fix for this bug will be implemented by Eagle Dynamics at the next update. Last I heard the test team was testing the fix.
-
Thanks a lot. I'll report this to Eagle Dynamics as well, let's see how they will fix it. Cheers, Sorel

yes, there are two missions 2 and 3 the mission 2 is on stormy weather, the mission 3 happens 4 hours later and the weather clears.

I'll run a test tonight and see if everything works as it should with that mission. As for the waypoint detour, that would be a holding area until your FAC clears you in, and a bit of a safeguard there in case someone misses the first trigger. However, you as a rule abiding fighter pilot, when the FAC tells you to do something, you do it. The same for the altitude instructions. But it is up to you if you want to push it over the clouds and stay under. As for the weirdness of the mission complete buttons and bugs lately. I'll try to replicate it, but i'm afraid that it behaves differently between single mission and campaign flying. It's probably related to the End Mission bug by what you described there.

Thanks a lot for the great feedback and thanks a lot for enjoying it so far. Couple if things: -the initial idea was to have way more airport activity, however, since this campaign simulates a full war, there are a ton of units in one the ground that are moving, battling while you are flying. It may not be the most efficient way of doing this, but, maybe this will give me more data when the dynamic campaign engine will make it's way in the DCS world. So, with airport activity I noticed quite a lot of performance hit on the medium systems so I chose to sacrifice the units on the airport rather than sacrifice the battle itself. If I would use a bit of ME magic and make units pop out of no-where that sometimes give a performance hit as well, so I have tried to avoid that. -80% of the time spent in building a mission, if you take voices and briefings away, is convincing the AI to do what you want them to do. 5% of the time is spent with me banging my head against the wall, there are a few dents, in the wall and probably on my head as well. The funny thing is that AI behavior changes a lot with updates, there are not all of them bad changes, but after every update, all campaign devs we go through a minor panic attack and do our tests and see what has been broken or not, and what's not working, it can be taxing., and testing 25 missions takes a bit. To give you an example: AI sees targets differently depending the light conditions. That's brilliant from an AI point of view, but if you have a mission at dusk or dawn and you are there too early or too late you are in a world of hurt. On that mission you mentioned the F-4's are attacking the SAM, you may check that on the mission results, and or, hear it on the radio. -I'll look into kneeboards and how to present it quicker to you guys. I'm glad you enjoy that. The campaign i'm working on now, the one for the AV-8B is slightly different from the F-5 one. It has more of that integration with the rest of the people around, while trying not to do a lot of radio gymnastics. I don't want to give a lot away but a lot of the feedback received will be incorporated. As for F-5, I love that little plane, but it's hard to incorporate it in a conflict that's at least somehow credible. Same goes for the F-86 and Mig-15, another set of planes that I would like to put side by side on the Channel map. Sort of a Dunkirk in the 50's. But, with no B-29's and Tu-4's, with no IL-2's or IL-10's with no other aircraft that can make it credible, it's a project that for now I put on the back burner, or maybe make it with some mods included. Once again, thanks a lot for the kind words and thanks for playing it.

I think you may be taking the wrong valley towards the target, the run should be in the valley, masked from the Igla's and ZSU's the FAC will tell you when to pop up, this way you attack perpendicular to their direction, and once you finish a run you hide behind the other side of the mountain, gain speed and do a standard turn 90 one direction and 270 the other direction, you should see the smoke over the valley and do a second run on the second target.
-
Thanks for the kind words, yes, this is an existing bug in DCS. Maybe try to skip the mission once you completed it once if you have problems ending it. maybe that will work. It's a nasty bug, I wasn't able o reproduce it. But i know many players are struggling with it. @Semor76 thanks for the fix as well.

Just a quick update on this one. The campaign is with the ED team being prepped for launch. No date just yet. I'll know more when it's going to make it to the CB build. Thanks a lot for all the support and feedback with this one.

Good old finger does the trick for me. I rather control my drop on that run. And yes, I use 100 mil depression on the retarded bombs at 500 kts and 300 ft. Unfortunately the bomb aerodynamics may not be accurately calculated, there are manuals on the web and you can try to adjust your mils by the book but the results are not all that great. I spent a good deal of time testing the ones in the manuals and the ones in the DCS manual but I wasn't able to come with some accurate results. But as many pilots used to say from that era before CCIP use the TLAR method. That Looks ABOUT Right.
-
Unfortunately it is not possible, as the missions come encrypted by Eagle Dynamics and can't be modified. There are quite a lot of ground units in the campaign, so, I had to cut back on the number of ground units on the player airfield trying to avoid any performance hits.
-
Thanks for the feedback. You are right about the task message there. Easy to fix/add in another iteration of this mission. With the amount of changes lately, I'm sure this will happen soon enough. Awesome picture with the bomb damage.
-
I thought you guys like blowing stuff up with 20 mike-mike. It's a percentage destroyed of a group. By how ME works. I could get granular and score by each unit, it would take about 5 years to finish a campaign. That whole SAM site is a group, easier to use it in templates and such. And also, if you think about it, it's my interpretation of a military conflict. It's not accurate, it may not be right all the time, It's just a story I'm telling. As long as you have fun with it, and makes you a better pilot, this thing will not be perfect, and for sure it won't be satisfying everyone's taste.

I think they are tinkering with the bombs lately, A lot of people are complaining about not enough damage and not enough damage from the shockwave, The Wingman will not make it home on that mission no matter what, sorry, that's the way it has to be. I'll try to run a test with them and see. I think I always go faster than 450 kts on the snakeye run and I use around 100 depression and drop a line of 3 first then adjust for the second pass.
-
I'll run a test tomorrow. 100 points it should go to the next one. That's the logic in DCS, nothing that I can control about that. What happens if you skip it in the first 10 seconds? press the radio menu and go for F10 and Instant Win?
-
You can always press the ' key and check your score. If you are at 100 then you can hit escape and end mission.
-
Where are you stuck? At the End mission button?
