DCS: F-14 Air to Air Refueling Tutorial
grim_reaper68 replied to 104th_Maverick's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
OK, I will try that. I was just wondering why the Cat is the only affected by wake turbulence even if they are deactivated. The tanker speed is at 350kts 15000ft. -
AAR violent pitch up after starting refuelling
grim_reaper68 replied to grim_reaper68's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
Hi, yes I have curves. As said I'm a newbie on AAR, but now with training, I managed to predict the pitch up, and can almost make a complete fuel transfer in one time. I will try to make a AAr with more than the minimum fuel to see if the pitch up appears. As mentionned with all tank lights on, the first who where be filled are the rear aft tanks (5 on the tank panel), so the center of gravity of the F1 goes back. I'm surprised to see the realism level of the F1, which take in account that sort of parameter in the flight model. Did you try an AAR with 20% of fuel? I would be glad to see if it's only my impression or if it's really the FM of the F1. -

Sorry for digging up that post, but I tried to AAR with the cat, but it seems to be affected by wake turbulences but in my mission they are deactivated. Other modules works fine, but the Cat moves a lot even if I'm 0.5Nm away from the tanker . -
Hi I just discovered the weather mod from Bandit648's with the scattered rain and thunderstrom. It would be great to have "real" cumulonimbus clouds with the thunderstrom. Also I just noticed that there where thunderbolt that comes out from nowhere (with the mod, with scattered clouds). In fact DCS thunderstrom weather comes with fog on the ground. Could it be possible to have the thunderbolts below the clouds? Only under cumulonimbus of course, if they will be one day include to the DCS weather. So scattered rain showers and thunderstorms with cumulonimbus would be a great improvement of the actual weather, which is great as it is , but could be perfected as described.

AAR violent pitch up after starting refuelling
grim_reaper68 replied to grim_reaper68's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
I would say the F1 is really an old school aircraft. In France the pilots says "qui se pilote avec les fesses" , litteraly translated "which is controlled with the buttocks" . I'm sure you understand the meaning. I tried an AAR with the F14, 340kts, the aircraft is hard to fly, like there where wake turbulences, but they aren't activated in my training mission. I tried one time with. I killed the tanked so I was angry . I also found a way to cheat AAR with the F18, I forgot to shut the AP off, it was incredebely easy, very stable. I noticed it as I was flying aways from the tanker as the alarm cames up. -
AAR violent pitch up after starting refuelling

Ok, I will continue practicing. Compared to other aircrafts like M2000 and F18, the F1 is a real challenge. But every attempt is better, so hopefullly, I will manage to make a good AAR soon. Did you try to make an AAR with less than 800 liters on your side, so that all tank lights are on? I can figure that your level is far up compared to mine, but maybe you can notice this tendency to pitch up. In my opinion, if the rear aft tank will be filled first, it's normal that there is a need to push on the stick to compensate the add of weight at the back of the aircraft. That would be a proof of the great work from Aerges of the reallistic flight model of the F1. Thanks for your advice. -

Tanker alt 15000ft, speed 340kts to avoid converter overheat. No slats. No wake activated. I post the trak ASAP. and the trak. As said I'm a total AAR newbie, so maybe it's me. DCS Mirage F1 AAR.trk -
Hi I'm actually training AAR with the F1, I noticed that it pitches up violently atfter starting refuelling. I've made a mission where there is only 850 liters of fuel, so the tanks are almost all empty. I checked the fuel panel after this pitch up and noticed that the first tanks that are filled are the 5, so the aft tank. I could figure that it's like IRL, but hard to manage for an AAR beginner like me.

Ok, good to know it. So probably there must be a cartridge for every year. Including the missions, that would be a lot of cartidges to make...

Hi Is it possible to have an option at the mission start to setup the time and or the weather (for example, midday, evening or night)? If yes, how?

Hi I'm trying to make a training mission where I can spawn in the desired aircraft, and the tanker spawn in front of me. I have 6 aircraft (A10, F14, F16, F18, Mirage F1 and M2000). The goal is when I'm choosing for example the F14, the tanker spawns in front of him. So long it works. But I'm stuck with the problem, that it works only one time. I used the funtion group alive to spawn the tanker in front, put a trigger zone linked to the tanker (radius 15000ft) and as long as the F14 is in the zone, or until i spawned in another aircraft, the tanker will be there (Unit out of mobile zone, group deactivate). Is there a way to initialize the position of the tanker again?

Free Mirage F1 Campaign : Ad Pacem 1985
grim_reaper68 replied to dggoofy's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Indeed it's hard to escape the manpad. I had to fly the mission several times before escaping the manpad without damage. I think you must fly at 500ft as demanded to escape it. I ajusted the QFE to be precisely at 500ft. Take a look at the F2 view and ajust your altitude to the altitude showed on the external view.- 45 replies

SA-342 Gazelle 2023 "FM" Update

Just made a test flight on the Gulf map in different location, I never got stuck on the ground. Can you give me the coordinates where you took off so I can test it? -
SA-342 Gazelle 2023 "FM" Update

You're right fapador, but most time you only hear the people who are unsatisfied, and the satisfied are silent. Imagine you're developing a module and read only negative about it. Would you enjoy continue to work on it? I don't think. There are in fact things that need to be worked out, but there is a lot of progress. It's good to be encouraged sometimes. -
Reservoir Fight mission problems and suggested fixes
grim_reaper68 replied to Toge's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Hi just made the mission today, 4 or 5 times, destroyed all troops and vehicles on the map (village inclued), never get the RTB message. -
For me curve 30 and y saturation 80 helps a lot, but it's more for landing than take off. For take off, I just disable the NWS high sensitivity and using small inputs to keep it straight.
-
Hi , I just noticed that the pilot in the rear seat has no helmet glass like the front one, or maybe i didn't found it in the command list.
-
Hi, no problem with the BE as the CE and EE at this time. Maybe you need to bind the Toggle Combined Flight Control mode.
-
Yes, I think so, as far as it only concerned the loading in the mission editor. I have collected some information about flying with the RPL201, but maybe you have the same. When taking off with the RPL201, the antiskid must be deactivated, the yaw should have been trimmed or corrected manually (I don't know if the word footly exist ), and there was a risk to bump it at landing if AOA was to high or too much vertical speed. Maybe it can be added to the model, the fact that if AOA and vertical speed is too high, it causes damage to the fuel tank . Dogfight was of course forbidden. A little training mission, like IRL would then be cool. I know I'm asking much
-
Ok, I understand better what you mean! It's about the flight model, that would effectively be affected by the adding of the tank. I didn't thought about that aspect. In fact such a big volume of fuel under the belly of the F1 will lower the center of gravity and change the flight characteristics. I remember in 1998, when I made my military service in the RC 2/30 Normadie-Niemen, that there where some flight restiction while flying with the RPL201.
-
Ok. No problem, I know the F1M is on the way. I'm just astonished, that as far as it's added in game, it works. Made test flights with and without it and I have more flight time with it. The weight seems to be taken in account, because I need more runway to take off. It was just about the fact that it didn't work when loaded in the mission editor. Continue your great job, I love this module.

Hi I've noticed today that the RPL 201 isn't usable in the F1 (I added it in the LUA file to have a correct virtual F1CT configuration, and meant it would work). It's indicated as well in the fuel indicator (6300l) like the RP35 (5250l), but in flight the RPL201 seems not to be used. I made a long time flight and ran out of fuel as the fuel gauge indicates 2300l. No problem with the RP35, who will be indicated empty on the fuel panel. After several tests, it seems that if the RPL201 is mounted in the mission editor (self made mission), the amount of fuel is correct, but not used. When added to the F1 in game, with the refuel and rearm menu, it works fine. I've flown a campaign with the F1EE where the RP35 was on the F1 from the start, and it worked fine. Hope my explanation is clear enough.

Hi Just a short video of a reco mission that I've made with a Mirage F1 CR. In hope there will be possible to have this option one day in DCS to really take reco pictures. Added some sounds and screens to be sure the mission is successful
