  1. Tested in 2.5.3.21016. Steps to reproduce Set up a mission with three targets in front of you, from left to right arrange them one far distance, one medium, one close all heading towards you. Select AIM-7 and exit ACM mode and find the contacts on your radar Press sensor select switch right to activate AACQ Expect: The closest contact to be locked up Observe: The left-most contact is locked up even though it's furthest away This seemed to be working fine last patch. Track attached, in the track the AACQ switches which target it's going for about halfway through the track but then reverts to picking the furthest one away. AACQAug30.trk
  2. Radar losing track of target when rolling Tested in 2.5.3.21016. Steps to reproduce: Lock a target Turn 30 degrees away from the target (it seems to be possible to cause this from anywhere more than 15 degrees away, if you're facing right at them you can barrel roll as fast as you like and you won't lose lock). Perform a roll to 45 degrees - if you go very very slowly then this won't appear, but even a relatively gentle roll will cause the issue as you can see on the track. Expect: Radar to maintain lock Observe: It loses the lock (though sometimes it does reacquire again it afterwards) Track attached. I'dve added this to the other thread but it's been locked. radarlossAug30.trk
  3. There are other things worthy of a patch though - we know they've got tweaks to the AIM-9X (up to 90 degrees HOBS and more flare rejection), AIM-7/AIM-120 missile guidance improvements and a fix for the Harrier Mav E crash ready to go.
  4. So, I don't see this as a commitment, more a guide of what to expect, but this is the list of stuff they said they were working on for July and August in the Newsletter at the end of July (and they say the JHMCS will come after in August/September, so you can kinda assume they were planning to deliver this list in August): Of those, the items left are (as far as I can tell): Complete RWS air-to-air radar mode with such features as Non-Cooperative Target Recognition (NCTR), Latent Track While Scan (LTWS) mode, COLOR option, and more. Integrate Paveway II series laser-guided bombs (GBU-10, 12, and 16) with JTAC designation.
  5. Who's worrying?
  6. Yeah just wondering if plans have changed as we'd normally have the patch notes by now and Wags had been doing video previews before the patch (or text updates in the Hornet forum) but nothing this time - it's been eerily quiet.
  7. Are we getting a patch today?
  8. I had this happen after I built a new PC - it turned out that I'd tried to overclock my RAM too high. Even though they were rated DDR4 3200, I could only get them to be stable at 2933mhz, if I ran them at 3200 then I would get random restarts every 30-90 minutes.
  9. So you're going to pretend that this isn't a multiplayer game? It's not cheating at all, it's all possible in the real aircraft. Just because certain conflicts had ROE restrictions doesn't mean that we can't use the functionality they had and use our own ROE - you're artificially constraining what the Hornet can do to fit your own narrow view and trying to impose it on everyone else. If you want to play by your rules, just leave the Hornet in RWS and don't activate LTWS/TWS/Link-16, then you can play without the functions you don't like which we're asking for.
  10. You must be playing a different game - the ability to look at the radar screen and see what's friend and foe at a glance (like you can in every other 4th gen fighter) makes a massive difference to situational awareness. Having the AWACs read out groups of aircraft is no comparison. We don't need realistic IFF, we just need the radar functions that show us the IFF status of radar contacts using the current game's logic.
  11. Might be a stupid question, but have you turned your RWR on? The power button is below the center screen. That will give you warnings of when you've been locked and launched at with radar missiles, so you can start chaffing and evading. IR missiles you have to watch for, but they're normally fired a lot closer so you can normally see the missile trail.
  12. There are two ways to turn off nose wheel steering - 1) Pressing the Disengage AP/NWS lever/button while on the ground and 2) Lowering the launch bar. Check to see if you've got a conflict with either of those. If it is either of those, you should be able to re-engage NWS by either tapping the NWS button or holding it.
  13. People are probably just excited about having capabilities that don't exist elsewhere in the game. I am too but I also want to have some basic capabilities so we can use the weapons we've already got properly - I'm also not sure why ED announced that their priority was finishing RWS over a month ago (including LTWS) and now seem to be backtracking on that.
  14. Eh? That's like asking what's the difference between an AIM-7 and the AA radar.
  15. That option is the 'AA radar' - we need the other modes before the Hornet will have IFF on the radar display.
  16. I think there's a couple of different answers depending on what way you look at it - there's either 'What do I need finished before the Hornet can become my every day driver?' (I. E. What's stopping me from playing it more often) and then 'What's the most exciting new feature?'. The answer to the first is the radar - we really need LTWS (with the HAFU symbols and color so we can IFF without locking) and the other radar modes, as well as fixing it so we can crank without dropping lock, before the Hornet would be a viable option to start using online instead of the Mirage (without taking a significant SA penalty). After that, I'm most looking forward to it all (obviously) but probably in this order - datalink(+SA page), JHMCS, HARM, ATFLIR, PGMs, AG radar, ACLS.
  17. I wouldn't be surprised if it was realistic - supposedly the F-15C really can IFF everything in RWS automatically (though it also has a semi-auto mode which IFFs everything at the push of a button like the Mirage). It does seem a really odd omission from the Hornet - but I think the assumption is that it's because the IFF isn't integrated with the radar like the F-15C.
  18. Fuselage stations use LAU-116s: https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/aircraft/systems/lau-116.htm
  19. And yes, the 120 can be loaded on the fuselage stores IRL - there are lots of pictures of it:
  20. That doesn't make sense, a roll doesn't exceed the gimbal limit - even if you did a barrel roll pointing at the target you shouldn't lose lock (and you won't in any other module). Whether it was horizontal or vertical, it still lost track at 36 degrees, which is within the limits.
  21. Eh? You can see where the vertical line is (showing the target's position) on the Attack Radar page, the first turn puts the target at just over 30 degrees from center - the gimbal limits are 70 degrees. If you look closely you can even see the HUD display '36' showing the number of degrees away the target was when it dropped the lock...
  22. It's essentially a blend of the HSI page with sensor information from the radar and datalink. So it looks like HSI page, with waypoints, sequence lines, ground targets etc, but you can also see track files provided from your radar and datalink, and your wingmen's positions. How much else is on there is TBC - the one on the F-16 can show ground threats and their respective ranges (i.e. it'd show the location of an SA-8 and the threat ring for it's missiles). In real life, lots of things can contribute via Link-16, but not sure how much DCS will simulate - at a minimum I'd guess they're going to do it via other F/A-18Cs, the E-2 and the Stennis.
  23. Press the menu button twice, then click HSI. You can't actually display the map itself on another display because the bottom screen is the only one that's full colour, but you can display the HSI.
  24. Any chance of a fix for this in the update tomorrow?
  25. Yep - if you go into the data page on the Attack Radar screen you'll see the 'COLOR' button to turn it on (though doesn't work yet!).
