  1. Probably, just to confirm though - removing carriers from the mission stopped the crashing. So there's something about Hornets arming on the carriers that causes that crash. Not sure if it's relevant but 104th say there's a 'carrier desync' bug that they've worked around in their latest mission and they're not letting people get Aim9x's from the carriers. Can't find any other mention of this desync bug on the forums anywhere: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3604175
  2. Master arm on Select AIM-7M/MH Place target inside circle on HUD and keep it there Fire
  3. Wags put out an update saying that they had *further* improved flare rejection (as well as HOBS) after the build you have installed was released - so it sounds like it will change in the next Open Beta update on Wednesday.
  4. Worth noting that it's due to be improved even further in the next update (which Wags' video is based on). So what you see ingame now isn't a reflection of the final performance.
  5. That's based on the theory of how the AIM-9P performed, which uses a totally different type of seeker. The AIM-9X is better at rejecting flares because it's looking for something plane-shaped, and flares are not plane-shaped. You can see it in those videos linked above, most of those hits are aimed at the middle of the plane, they're not even aiming for the hottest part of the plane. Consensus seems to be that the AIM-9X just went dumb off the rail: http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/14344/heres-the-definitive-account-of-the-syrian-su-22-shoot-down-from-the-pilots-themselves
  6. I'm hoping we get some proper radar improvements soon - they mentioned LTWS as being on the priority list for July & August, but not heard anything since (and now JHMCS which was on the list for 'after' that set of priorities is now priority #1, so assuming LTWS has slipped). It's also still impossible to crank using the Hornet radar without dropping the lock. Not much point getting AIM-9X and JHMCS if we get murdered before we can use them.
  7. It's not LOAL (the version they're simulating doesn't have it), just a reaaaaallly wide field of view, it can look 90 degrees off boresight (so it can see anything in its forward hemisphere).
  8. Depends, cellulose (which according to wiki is an organic compound found in plants) is also used to make paper, and in the movie when Jack Ryan finds the tech specs for the 'Cellulose-Encased Laser Guided Bomb' he literally says the word 'Paper'. But we're quibbling over the exact materials used to make a fictional bomb, so it could be anything really.
  9. I think right now it'd be the AIM-7MH, as it has the lofting profile.
  10. We are answering it - the builds are identical, there are no changes. So yes, it was broken in OB so it's broken in release. If you fire a Mav E on 2.5.2.20601, your game will crash.
  11. There isn't a difference between OB and Stable anymore, there's nothing to test, they're the same build so what was broken in OB is now broken in Stable.
  12. Whether or not it actually functions like an AWACs (and I hope it does), it should definitely be a part of the Link-16 ecosystem and be able to share trackfiles to us in our Hornets (once we've got that implemented).
  13. I think only Single Player counts though right? I've not noticed this counting and I've got thousands of hours in MP but only a couple of dozen in SP.
  14. How come you're dropping lock? In a bit of testing I was able to maintain lock on targets from 45nm out until missiles were hitting them at about 20nm (after being fired at around 35nm, from 40kft, M0.9). If you're trying to crank, don't, the Hornet radar isn't capable of cranking without dropping lock almost every single time, see bug report here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3598068&postcount=176 You have to essentially keep the enemy in the middle of your HUD from firing till the TTG counter reaches 0. If you do that, you can get kills from long distance on passively defending targets.
  15. Well sounds like 2/3rds are affected then, I'm sure those other server owners would be interested to know if you've done anything special to counter it - I'm hearing its affecting people hosting their own sessions for a friend or two as well.
  16. As a rough guess of what it's showing: Blue aircraft shape in the middle of the compass rose: Your own aircraft Solid green lines emanating from your aircraft: Radar scan azimuth Orange line & triangles:Waypoints (6, 7, 8 and 9) Blue circles: Wingmen (2, 3 and 4) with altitude underneath Red single letters/numbers: Possibly ground radar/SAM sites, S = Search, 3 = SA3, 6 = SA6 Red dotted triangles with text underneath: Enemy flights of planes, i.e. 2F/23 is a two-ship of Mig-29s flying at 23kft - white dotted line either side shows it's been hooked (and extra info is showing for that flight bottom right). There's another two-ship flying at 42kft on the screen as well. Green circles: Friendly flights with altitude underneath
  17. Getting a little worried that ED are going to roll out the current OB to stable tomorrow, and this bug is going to ruin multiplayer: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=218255 Looks like servers are crashing every few minutes on the OB build. At least 2/5 of the most populated servers have reported the same issue (and I'm not actually sure if the others - 104th, BF, TTI - updated to the OB build).
  18. I'm guessing it's sat on the ramp / hangar at NAS Fallon ("Elevation AMSL 3,934 ft / 1,199 m"): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naval_Air_Station_Fallon
  19. Oh and according to the DDI it's a GBU-12 - 82LG is the abbreviation for it on the stores page. If you mean what was special about it in the film, it's that it was supposedly a paper-cased bomb (rather than steel), though that's obviously not true.
  20. Looks like he just switches from HSI to Stores and then selects the bomb - though his master arm is still off (still says 'SAFE') and he hasn't set the fuze (doesn't have the option actually now it's in higher res). Also doesn't seem to be in AG mode. Funny that they seemed to use a real Hornet for it instead of just mocking one up though. Also, for those with OCD about advisory messages, don't look at the left DDI, it'll give you a heart attack: Edit: Found a source with higher resolution here:
  21. Yep lots of pauses - the main culprit right now seems to be either when pilots eject or damage models load. They do happen in SP though in SP the game pauses, so it's not as lethal, in MP the game keeps running and inputs do still have effects. I've flown into the ground plenty of times - the current freezes seem to have been introduced when they put the memory manager in, I had no issues before that (but I have 32gb RAM, so I never had any memory problems).
  22. I'll put it another way - it lofts right now, you just need to be a certain distance away (and possibly at a certain altitude - but I definitely saw it lofting with a 40kft, 40nm shot). I don't believe they've made any changes to the 120B/C other than correcting the HUD range indicators in the current patch. The guidance fixes aren't released yet - they should be coming in the next open beta patch.
  23. It always has had it, but the parameters are different for it engaging and it does it automatically. I believe the target has to be more than 40nm away before it'll loft.
  24. Probably 2 - the radar beam gets narrower the closer to you it is (so a beam that covers 0ft to 50kft at 40nm might only be covering 23kft to 25kft at 2nm) and so you have to work a lot harder to set your radar to scan specific areas - which is partly why you've got ACM modes to make it easier to lock something up that you can actually see out the window. You probably needed to adjust your scan parameters - i.e. if you pointed your nose at them and set your radar to 6 bar 20 deg, and made sure your radar elevation was roughly right, it would have scanned a tall but narrow rectangle of the sky in front of you and you probably would have picked them up.
  25. Pretty please - I have an axis waiting to use for this and it'll be the ideal control for it.
