[SP] Operation Persian Power
omskTransmash replied to rmk80's topic in User Created Missions General
Trying to do Persian Power in the newest version 2.5.6.43931. At first try, AWACS and Tankers immediately killed about 1 min after the mission start. It seems they are spawning at the wrong point and somehow got killed by collision / explosion. Changed mission settings in Mission Editor / set rules for trigger / spawnType to SPAWN.Takeoff.Air and it runs Ok. Didnt try on other theater (vegas or georgia) Maybe moving around AWACS and Tanker will solve the problem but didnt try This mission is the only reason I am playing DCS these days. Hope get more attention and Thanks again to the creator. -

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
omskTransmash replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I tried to make IC-Pass version of new 2.5.6 compatible shader mod, by swapping IC-Failed files with original one, but it gives me the following error (see the attachment) I dont know the original author, Kegetys allowed manipulating his mod or not. I looked through this thread but could not find related statements. If it is prohibited, I am sorry and will delete this reply as soon as I can. Otherwise, if anyone can help making IC-Pass version of this great mod, please help us! Thanks! -
[SP] Operation Persian Power
omskTransmash replied to rmk80's topic in User Created Missions General
I only found this gem today, flew only for a few hours, but I am sure this is the most promising action-packed dynamic campaign project!! * Fast and Furious, perfect when you need the heat but don't have enough time * AI aircraft from both sides actively do something, feels like in the middle of some battle (relative to other MOOSE based PvE mission which enemies can only react to the player's actions) * Most importantly, sense of achievement / progression. I kicked and I died but I was there. Someday I can finish the damn war. Can't wait to see how this beautiful project evolves. Salute! @Recommend uploading to the dcs website user files section, if not already done so. Many people like me prefer simply checking the website for new files, rather than digging through the vast forum. There may be many potential fans for your work who didnt get the news. -
I am relatively new to the dcs forum but this thread is very interesting. The users / customers are trying to give many feedbacks and opinions which obviously cannot ALL be refelected in one product. You can ask a feature or to fix a bug to a car or smartphone or shampoo.. but to actually what to implement / fix and what to not / ignore is the company / supplier's choice to better allocate their resource. If the customers are not satisfied they just buy another product or even find another hobby. Why waste your life on other people's decision? Funny thing is since ED / 9L is actually investing money (9L's labor) and that IS reflected the price of the next DCS module. I clearly dont want that. if ED already knows something is wrong with rockets or whatnots, to fix or not fix is solely there choice, not the users. Wasting time of an ED employee = revenue wasted = higher price module with same bug / same price module with more bug For us / customers : dont waste valuable time on others' choice. maybe you happen to be in a very small group of people who enjoy that, but please stop for the other users. If you dont like this, buy another product. start a kickstarter project. you can be a CEO. just stop increase operation cost of ED For ED, just ignore everything already known. You may get some negatives on forum like shutting the door. But remember vast majority of paying customers are capable and resonable people, hence their purchase decisons are not affected by unreasonable trolling. not at all. Every bar has to shut down some time of a day and it's in your right. Please better use your valuable time and money. Sent from my LG-F770S using Tapatalk

Sitting on that seat of a10 and praising how we are better than fs players or ace combat or whatnots is what exactly making us niche and gave the ED monopoly. Some are dont even get out of falcon 4.0 because they think it's perfect. I am sure they are happy but i dont envy them because im sure there are few people who saying falcon 3.0 is way more realistic than arcady 4.0 let alone dcs. If we C.O.R.E. sIm gamers shove our ego up in our ass just one second and grit our teeth and say 'hey your flying bus looks awesome! does it have flight attendence? btw, i know this one game called dcs / falcon, which happens be a little bit violent, it has guns and missiles such... no im not a warmonger. no sir i dont want wage war against canada..' it's painful but as is all marketing and sales activities. it's for us, not ed. i say we have to do it for us, not a monopoly supplier

i cannot find anything new in this thread, except Nineline's superhuman patience. if we want improve ED and DCS, we dont tell them to do it. instead we go to the competitors. Buy the competiton they will do their job even before we know it. sadly this was very niche market with only ED is in monopoly. Lets change this. i hear that FS from MS is coming back. Microprose is coming back. maybe rumors/hoaxes maybe not, but if they manage.to launch their product, lets buy them instead of ED's. it will solve everything.

I think I had similar problems that OP is expecting, and I like to share my experience. My final solution is using Xpadder and using custom kneeboard. The basic idea is based on assigning some switches on my T16000M and TWCS to "SHIFT" the function of the entire HOTAS. For example, if pull the joystick trigger without any shifting will fire weapon, however while i press and hold a button / slider on my throttle, the joystick trigger becomes some other function, e.g. drop bombs, trim reset. This is possible by combining Xpadder's "Set Selector" function and with DCS in-game custom control mapping. Above pictures shows my current xpadder setting. If push nothing, the TWCS is working as "Default" mapping (highlighted in left-bottom tab list) The yellow box means that if i pull and hold the rudder slider of my TWCS to left, it "shifts" the entire mapping of TWCS to "Weapon" AND it also press and hold left control key. This way I have enough key mappings in my T16000 and TWCS. Having many functions within the limited number of buttons of HOTAS in VR is very important: I cannot easily access mouse and keyboard when I cannot actually see them. The VR mouse pointing is only a "mouse pointer". i.e., in the end I need additional mouse movement mapping in HOTAS (to fine tune my head bobbing mouse cursor) in addition left and right mouse button and even mouse wheel button mapping to my HOTAS (see first picture) [*]There were a lot of functions need to be mapped than I initially anticipated. Like reset VR position, moving 6DOF cockpit, whole radio shortcut, zoom button, fire while zooming and many more [*]There were a lot of functions need to be mapped because some cockpit buttons are hiding behind in-game virtual throttle and stick. For some modules I can hide in-game control stick by pushing backspace (which i had to again mapped to hotas) but it does not much help because i cannot hide throttle. In F-14 flap controls are hiding behind throttle. Next step is setting the in-game DCS controls with above HOTAS + xpadder combinations to actually fly anything. I cannot possibly remember HOTAS * xpadder(sets) * DCS modules (aircrts) times of combination. So custom kneeboard comes in handy. This means I had to actually draw the custom kneeboard so again it took a lot of efforts. I used google presentation btw. So I can finally fly any damn thing less relying on the invisible keyboard and mouse. I dont know this is cognitive resonance but I am satisfied now. A few comments regarding my setup: I paid about $10 for Xpadder because it is easy to use and more visualized. I also tried similar free software like joy2key or even thrustmaster key mappers. Theoretically those free software should also work but for me it took too much time without visualization so I dropped using them and bought Xpadder. There are a lot of bizarre and unsaid complex key mapping tricks in here for everything work as intended. I warn you my method will take you a lot of time setting things. If I have more time I plan to write a document about this but.. I tried many suggestions to boost performance, but for me there was little difference. Maybe they works for other people. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=201600 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215373 and I dont think promised 50% increase will be available any time soon. BTW my first choice was voice attack too, but since i'm not native english speaker and windows voice engine doesnt support my native language (yet) so I could not get it to work. Anyway feel free to ask any questions about my suggestions!

If you have multiple small SSDs (like me), combine them into a larger disk pool with windows disk manager. It's basically raid 0. Downside is even only one of your pooled disks fails, all your data in the pool might not be recoverable. But i still do this because (1) nowdays ssd has pretty good lifetime warranty. (2) it's just game so in the case of hardware fault i can just reinstall everything. Might a good thing if you have multiple SATA (3/6 Gbps) SSDs. NVMe can be a little bit waste if pooled with slower disks.

Everything has to be in order for my Rockeye (it was not like this before tho) Set MFUZ to VT, Set Height to 1500, Set EFUZ to INST (Instantly blow open the canistor? dont know) Set MODE to CCIP Drop the bomb somewhat over ALT 1500. around 2000 often fails. 3000~4000 should do it

Check your campaigns please, ED.
omskTransmash replied to berk.kp's topic in User Created Missions General
i understand recent 2.5 release created a lot of rework for the campaigns. however, new users like me would expect all the stuffs delivered from the payment to work as intended and since they actually do not, new users get a lot of needless confusion. we dont expect everything to be perpect, however, it would be a great help if they can tell us what is working and what is not, when is planned timeline to fix them, how they are co working with community (e.g. dedicated person like maddog c). -

Menu unclickable in VR if desktop resolution higher than 1080p

That's exactly what i will do this time. Hornet made me to move to beta branch, but it seems not much going on these days. Maybe later when Hornet gets some A/G functions. -
I know we talk a lot about RTX and DCS, but many of them goes into pricing, risk/uncertainty and AMD etc. How about we discuss about how RTX can be helpful in DCS, just assuming that raytracing tech will be there sooner or later? What i am guessing is: 1. Terrain and even exterior rendering looks hard to utilize RTX tech since in DCS it's so open and wide, no need to "individually trace" some solar rays within DCS world. But i dont know better. 2. Maybe cockpit rendering and lighting can utilize RTX tech. This way usual CUDA cores can focus on rendering usual things, RTX/Tensor cores can work on internal cockpit rendering, at least some of them, to better utilize GPU power and functions. 3. Maybe other ways to utilize tensor core for other than rendering? like increasing view distance? Combined Arms AI? (if possible i think after year 2030 :) Just writing in fear that right now RTX Tensor cores being useless in DCS. Hope we can pool some ideas and maybe DCS can use the things that new GPUs provide soon enough..

All Dynamic Campaign Engine's Campaign having Lag
omskTransmash replied to jamius19's topic in User Created Missions General
I have similar gig, and getting the similar lag. FPS ~ 20, sometimes under 15.I usually get > 90 FPS (VR CAP) when doing other missions, campaigns. What i found is that DCE campaigns have much more objects, uses much more video ram, cpu power, etc. (some are shown from RCTRL-Break on-screen info) So I just thought it's the way it is. However, if it's not the case, any help would be more than welcome! Some not-so-great fixes i have tried: * Reducing clutter and other object-related settings can help, but not much. * Increasing preload radius helps, but again not much. With maximum preload radius mine uses around 12G of RAM so it's not disk swap issue. * In-game info shows Video RAM usage around 11G RAM, but my GPU only has 8G RAM. But dont know this is important since didnt tried on larger VRAM GPU. * Caucasus DCE has more perf impact than Nevada DCE (understandably NEVEDA has less objects), so i usually prefer Nevada DCE * Tried CPU overclocking to 4.6Ghz got around 5~8 FPS gain. But since FPS is overly fluctuating throughout the game, the gain does not feel great and/or recognizable. Reverted to previous overclocking value (~4.0Ghz). -
Got exactly the same issue. started with: 2.5.3.21016 Really, really annoying. hope getting the fix soon..

Same Here. Can we get another hotfix?
-
Thank you for the detailed info!! for now mine is set to 'GroundTarget["blue"].percent < 14' which is clear and easy to understand! Maybe tracking progress toward campaign winning condition can help motivate the players throughout the missions, Just for now i am very happy that i know what i have to do to win the campaign.

I failed to search similar question regarding MBot's DCE. Sorry if this question already has asked and answered. Is there "an end" of a DCE campaign or "finishing", "completion"? Just like if we do all 10 missions of a scripted / static campaign? Or is DCE campaigns are ever going endless war?
