Hey ams999, are you using the default spec files or are there custom ones in the skin folder?

Body & Tail different reflections (shiny)
Helles Belle replied to Helles Belle's topic in Bugs and Problems
https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=232756 The front seat uniforms appeared faded/lighter than the side gunners. Noticeable with the Spanish UN crew. The side gunners are a normal blue but the pilots are washed out/lighter. I only really noticed it when I made a skin where the crew have orange vests. -
Bugger, thanks ams999, I’ll have another look at it and see if I can track it down.

There is a problem with the tail of the Huey appearing matte and body appearing shiny (depending on the spec you have for the skin) If you wanted an aluminium look the body is fine but the tail looks dull. This only happens if NO weapons mounts are loaded. I finally got to look through the .json file and may have solved that problem. Open ab-212.lods.json (the original file - some people may have already modified it or deleted it) In civ_uh1_tail_dam Change the specAdd value to the red highlighted value below. (the original value is 1.0) "civ_uh1_tail_dam": { "reflMult": 0.5, "reflAdd": 0.64999997615814208984, "specMult": -0.5, "specAdd": 0.54000002145767211914, "specSelect": 0, "albedoLevel": 0.20000000298023223877, "albedoContrast": 0.94999998807907104492 As far as i can tell it works with all weapons etc. Now all I have to do is figure out how to fix the pilots vests/uniforms. Look here for other thread. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=231824

The huey pilots vests colour gets washed out in game. This includes the shirt & trousers as can be seen when compared to the door gunner. They appear normal when viewed in model viewer. This affects all skins, including the game supplied ones such as the Spanish UN as shown below.

Gday Rob, No, I haven't been able to find it yet. It's not a problem, as much, if you have a skin that is all matte, such as the olive drab or camo skins. But, I'd really like to do more skins that are bare aluminium or some commercial hueys that have shiny polished paint. The dull tail & shiny body only happens when the weapons mounts are NOT loaded which is what I want for a commercial paint or the RAAF Rescue bare aluminium for instance. I thought it may be something simple, such as a problem with my lua but it affects all skins, including the game supplied ones. It's a shame, as the RAAF Rescue spec has been redone & it's come out pretty good, but only if you load the weapons mounts or put some gunners on the side. The pilots vest are something that is also affected on all skins. In model viewer they look fine, but for some reason they get washed out in the game. And again it's affecting even the game supplied ones such as the Spanish UN. Cheers

Ready for dowload. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3303572/ Also up now are the Long Tan Hueys https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3303573/ The RAN, RAAF Rescue & others also went through a makeover. The is also another colour problem, this time with the pilot skins. It's most noticeable with the RAAF Rescue hi-vis life jackets. They are meant to be orange in the game. The door gunners show up correctly. But the pilot & co-pilot appear washed out. This also happens with the blue UN pilots. I have checked with the game supplied skins such as the Spanish UN huey & it does the same thing.

I've narrowed the matte tail problem down to being associated with whether or not the weapon mounts are fitted. If the mounts are fitted the reflection of the shiny tail works as per expected along with the body. It doesn't matter if weapons are fitted to the mounts. When the mounts aren't fitted the tail defaults to a matte tail. As can be seen in the link. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3799193#post3799193 In the mean time, here's a snippet of whats coming out of the paint shop in the near future (along with some other friends)

Body & Tail different reflections (shiny)
Helles Belle replied to Helles Belle's topic in Bugs and Problems
Further to the above, it appears having the weapons mount loaded affects the shiny appearance of the Huey tail. With weapons mounts loaded (doesn't matter if weapons are loaded) the tail appears as it should and shiny. If weapons are not loaded the tail section is Matte. -
Hey Strut, Thanks for the kind words. The shiny body and matte tail have me stumped. I've tried several things to no avail. They show up OK in MV2 but the game has the tail matte in every skin, including the game provided ones. The body is showing up nice in the game as polished aluminium though. I've made a few changes to what I've posted. I'll get around to putting up the changes as soon as I can (might be a week or so). It's just minor cosmetic stuff etc.

Firstly, I have read some of the other thread re: shiny Huey. I've started a new thread as I don't think the problem is being correctly addressed. The tail section of the Huey is not responding to the spec files re: shiny appearance. If the huey, as most are, is painted then the problem is not as pronounced. However if you wish to make a bare aluminium skin as I have tried to do, the tail appears dull & matte. while the body appears as it should & shiny. I'm aware of removing certain files to fix the problem. This only really worked with matte skins & then it made the skin a lot darker in full sunlight. When the bare aluminium is viewed in Model Viewer 2 it does appear correct. The 3 screenshots are the game supplied Standard paint scheme, the bare skin in game and the same skin in Model Viewer 2 See extra skins here https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3789839&postcount=5 https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=204013&d=1549498449 https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=204012&d=1549498449

Obviously there is a problem with shiny skins on the Huey. When viewing the aircraft in Model Viewer 2 the tail looks shiny aluminium just like the front half. But when in game the tail comes out matte. I've tried messing around with things & the lua appears right. :helpsmilie:

No worries.

Sorry, title should say "& RAN' (there's not 7 RAN skins):prop:

I just posted these up. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3303428/ They are pretty much finished. Got sick of the horrible supplied template so started fixing it. Still a bit of a way to go with it yet. Still working on the RAAF Rescue to try and improve the Aluminium finish. If anyones got some tips for the Spec colour it would be appreciated.

The other question I have is. I just realised. Does the autoexec.lua go in the saved games folder as well? Previously with MV1, I was modifying the autoexec file in the actual game folder. It needed doing every update but at least with MV1 it worked. I can’t understand how MV2 could be so different and not work like that.

G’day Orso, Thanks for the reply  The path to my saved games liveries folder is C:/Users/<username>/Saved Games/DCS/Liveries I’ll give it another look when I get in tonight. So, can I confirm, you guys are getting MV2 to successfully look at your saved games liveries folder? Until now I’ve been copying the files to the game folder and moving them back to saved games after editing. It works, but is more ‘labour intensive’. :( Cheers.

DCS Model Viewer missing after last update
Helles Belle replied to Ala12Rv-Muscat's topic in General Bugs
https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=228505&highlight=model+viewer -
Thanks to everyone for the great research and discussion on this. I'm having the same problems as everyone - trying to get MV2 to point to the Saved Games folder. Firstly When adding the line mount_vfs_liveries_path("../../../Users/<username>/Saved Games/DCS/Liveries") should it be a . or / between DCS & Liveries? Secondly I have edModelViewer, edModelViewer.openalpha, edModelViewer2 & ModelViewer in my saved games folder. Should I get rid of all these & use edModelViewer.openbeta? If yes where do I find it? Lastly If all that is not the problem what do I type after - mount_vfs_liveries_path? If it helps my path to Model Viewer is - C: > Program Files > Eagle Dynamics > DCS World > Config > ModelViewer I guess it has something to do with how many ../ I put before Users/<username>/Saved Games/DCS/Liveries I must be getting close because depending on what I put in changes what I see in the Database Type window of the LiveriesToolPlugin in MV2. For instance the above mount will bring up two times the aircraft I have in the saved games folder (1 for what he game has and 1 for what, I guess, is in my saved games folder) But, when selected, only show what is available in the game database. Thanks.
