Help with flight controller profile
-Nighthawk- replied to ldeverell's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
It's exactly the same method as the X52, first of all delete all joystick assignments within DCS, then download the Saitek software found here: http://saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php All you need to do is manually assign each key you want for the part of the joystick within that software, save the profile and launch it :) -
1 month with SSD(Solid State Drive) - Great.
-Nighthawk- replied to 815TooCooL's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Not so much sizes I'm waiting for, its prices and performance ;) Every month SSD's get a lot faster and cheaper, might buy one at the end of the year -
That's it, I am Cancelling My Subscription to PC Gamer!
-Nighthawk- replied to 's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
+1 most gaming magazines don't respect the level of detail gone into this flight sim, instead focus on games like "Hawx" or something because its "cool" for the younger crowd... -
Yeah I've got it for FSX, it's alright to fly around in but is way too arcady for my tastes, just like the F18 but looks nicer. Also, barley any of the buttons work in the cockpit :S So far I can only turn the HUD on no other MDF's.

Help with X52. Can't setup zoom on slider
-Nighthawk- replied to murdoc311's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Yep what Tbag said, just make sure nothing is assigned to it in your Saitek software -
Help with X52. Can't setup zoom on slider
-Nighthawk- replied to murdoc311's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
It's in the AXIS Commands under controls, I tried this for mine however quickly decided against it. Reason was the slider has many dead spots, the camera was moving in and out too much ;) -
Yep autopilot will do that, when I'm mucking around trying new tricks etc. autopilot is the first thing I need to turn off ;)

Whole point of a simulation is to simulate real world objects (aircraft, cars etc.) making up things would just be crazy and an arcade game (even though the flight characteristics may be based on physics) I would much prefer a real object be simulated then something made up, just seems kinda childish

Haha great image, took me a few seconds before I got it :P

Any Word on Windows & Starfoce Fix.
-Nighthawk- replied to Rodgerdat's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Nope, StarForce plans to release it shortly before Windows 7 is finished however ;) -
Windows XP cannot assign the affinity as well as Windows Vista does (better multi-core management) so even with both cores enabled on XP there is no performance improvement. It only starts with 1 core on Vista, manually assigning the second core gives you a nice improvement, another advantage that Vista has over XP (yes Vista is superior, the average joe thinks otherwise though...)

Saitek, new beta 2 software (10th Feb)
-Nighthawk- replied to Tehrawk's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Downloading now, thanks -
Did you measure the FPS? It's not going to perform miracles on everyone's computers especially those who maintain them, my computer is in perfect condition however with Fusion I get about 3-5 FPS improvement not to mention faster map loading times etc.

New Matt Wagner interview at simmoders!!!
-Nighthawk- replied to jctrnacty's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Yep I'd say 64-bit will give a nice frame boost then in DCS: A-10 true multi-core support making the game run much smoother. Good news as 64-bit still needs to be taken advantage more from game developers. 9 months after March 24th, so Q1 2010 we will see DCS: A-10 :) -
Catalyst 9.1 available...
-Nighthawk- replied to Mustang's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Catalyst 9.1 drivers were aimed at fixing a few media related bugs, not really doing anything in games. I'm pretty sure in 9.2 / 9.3 we will see an updated Avivo and some nice performance improvements. -
Been using Fusion occasionally for a few months, you get to choose what programs you want to shutdown. I just get rid of unnecessary background services like DWM etc. all up saves me about 200mb of RAM. It does the job quite well, but is still early in development edit: and deviletk, you can program Fusion to get rid of those programs that are unnecessary, you have 100% control over what it does. Even with a clean computer it still gives you a boost, it can accelerate the hard disk, overclock the CPU, overclock the GPU etc. giving a nice performance boost if you're an overclocker but want to keep the hardware stock at most times.

Too damn expensive? It's a bargain for what it contains. Games here are $80-$100, and most of them are crap. The level of detail and work that went into this is a lot more then $50, just buy it.

I'm still very confused when it comes to the "Adding skins to the game" part, it says there are 3 methods but there is only 1. None of it makes sense to me. Can it be explained a little easier?

Enabling "jitter" in cockpit view is cool!
-Nighthawk- replied to Siinji's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Then what is the jitter effect for instead of just shaking around? -
Enabling "jitter" in cockpit view is cool!
-Nighthawk- replied to Siinji's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Hopefully that can be implemented into the next upcoming patch *hint hint* ;) -

-Nighthawk- replied to Siinji's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Yep I keep it on now, just to add to that extra bit of realism. It should be enabled by default. -
Yep targeting mode reset as mentioned above, kinda annoying when you want to try attack a target while getting the main flight statistics on the HUD.
