Little confused. Tried to download and purchase and I get that I already have a license for it. I currently own both the Channel and Normandy 1944 maps so should be $9.99.

Just noticed some constellations and maybe planets in DCS (turned GAMA up big time). Is this a thing in DCS? If so, is it simulated with appropriate dates and time of day?

I saw that post too after I posted this. Yes, I have SSAA set at 2 for the eye candy. I'll turn it off if I plan to have NVG in my mission. I test it out later tonight to see if it resolves the issue. Looks like SSAA is kinda messed up for both the single thread and multithread versions right now. Part of the update progress I am guessing. Here is a screen shot of the issue.

I too have this problem. Thanks for info on the SSAA above. No eye candy for a bit

Hi all. With the recent update, is anyone else having issues with the viper's night vision goggles? I do not have a track file to share, but the NVG image is zoomed and not aligned. Shows a zoomed level and up to the left. I was fine before the recent update.

Hi All. Anyone else having issues starting Engine #2. Flying a dedicated server mission on Syria Map and Engine #2 wont start. Doesn't always happen either. I'm following good procedure. Don't have a track file since I'm flying on a dedicated server mission.

Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle
shastasm replied to KILLSWITCH245's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Mine bricked the other day....not happy. Only had it for 4 years. Read into it a bit, and it may be related to the powered usb hub that I had it connected to and power surges mentioned above (although the hub was connected to a power surge protector). I also left it plugged in a lot to the system on the weekend and the system would sleep on and off. Anyway...used my Amazon Christmas Gift Card on a new one. Expensive piece of equipment to only last 4 years. If I didn't love it so much I'd find another. -
I may have a Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle for you. It bricked the other day and systems don't recognize the USB connection any longer. Likely a main board issue. I'm debating opening it up to try to fix this sucker, but that is not my expertise.

Hi All. Where is this mod supposed to go. I have a mod folder in both my saved games and also in the root directory for beta. I do not see a folder named Tacca's NVG Mod 1.2.0

Posted a video of my MSAA & SSAA testing for the 4080. Please note that this is all 2D and not the VR environment. -
RTX 4080 & 7900 XTX/XT benchmarks DCS
shastasm replied to xoxen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for sharing. I just ran the track with the same settings and got about 5 to 10 more FPS than you with the 4080. Could be a function of the different models (Asus TUFF for me). Super glad there are options out there for our DCS friends. I might have to overclock now to compare :). Again thanks for sharing. -
RTX 4080 & 7900 XTX/XT benchmarks DCS
shastasm replied to xoxen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi All. So I did a little benchmarking on the 4080 this weekend. Below are my results. All my settings were set at high (mostly). Settings are posted below. I ran with different SSAA and MSAA settings This test was ran at 1440p and out of Batumi (Georgia Map) early morning with some clouds. I tried to recreate the test each time using the F-16 by over flying the sea at 20 feet, then over some defensive units firing at me at the old cross-landing strip north of Batumi, then low level flight in the trees. The biggest FPS impact in all cases was in the trees at low level. Highest FPS was observed at high altitude in the 170 to 180 range. I recorded all the test runs and debating whether or not to post on YouTube as its not a great video lol. Below are my results. I think I'll be using the MSAA at 4 - good balance with graphics and performance. 1% and 0.1% lows were better than the MSAA at 2. System: Ryzen 9 5900x 64MB RAM - 3200Mhz GTX 4080 16GB -
Hello. Noticed when engaged by the SU-30, the RWR does not display. Only get the tone. No track file to share. Unsure if this is also an issue with other aircraft.

Pulled the trigger on the 4080 at MSRP once I couldn't get a 7900xtx on launch. Hardware Unboxed review sold me, plus I'm delving into content creation and my 6900 is a little rough for the encoding. -
Hi all. I've been playing DCS on Liberation Campaign for years. It seams when many units are involved in a map/mission things get very quirky with AI AWACS, ATC, and Wingman communications. Below list some key issues I have observed that have been emersion killers flying single player missions. AWACS Issues: In particular AWACS calls out every single contact on the map as a BRA instead of groups referenced to a bullseye which would simplify and reduce AWACS chatter. I don't need to know about contacts 300 miles away other have a situational awareness in reference to bullseye. I'm not sure what proper AWACS protocol is, but may give BRA if within a 100 mile radius of your plane or if asked for a bogey dope. ATC Communication: ATC should be able to give you IFR routing in poor weather or night operations. Not all planes have ILS/TACAN ability. Ideally they will give you a marshal stack information for spacing for airports that have a lot of traffic. Also, add the ability for requesting that ATC repeat the information (for both Carrier and airports). AI Wingman: when there tens to hundreds of contacts on a map/mission, wingmen will call out every ground and air contact within a 200 mile radius - they must have eagle eyes or advanced radar/avionics that are 6th generation. In these situations, they will saturate the airways until they have completed their callouts (20 minutes sometimes). Also, if you are trying to command during these wingman callout situations, they will ignore your commands (engage, rtb, etc) until they are complete. AI Wingman Joker/Bingo Fuel Settings: There is no way for you to establish or set bingo/joker fuel loadouts in the mission editor. You have no idea what their fuel situation is until they call out bingo...then 15 seconds latter they eject. Recommend a bingo/joker fuel setting is created in the editor and add AI communication about Joker & Bingo fuel conditions. Also add the ability to request fuel status in the comms menu.

With the recent update 2.8, AI will not terminate a predetermined hold time at a specific waypoint. Recognized this in liberation campaign and I reproduced it in a generated mission. Defined an "Orbit" advanced waypoint action with a Stop Condition at a specific mission time. All AI with these types of waypoint action just orbit indefinitely.

Ryzen 9 5900x vs Ryzen 7 5800x3d
shastasm replied to shastasm's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Appreciate the feedback. I think I may skip a generation or two before my next updgrade. Looking forward to DCS 2.8! -
My four stables are the A-10CII, F-16, F-18, and Apache. I own a bunch more, but these are my favorites. A-10 is probably ranks #1, but F-16 gives you a sense of speed like no other module.

Ryzen 9 5900x vs Ryzen 7 5800x3d
shastasm replied to shastasm's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Great comments and feedback everyone. Thank you and appreciate it. Currently running a rtx6900xt at 1440p with my 5900x so I'm good with existing performance. I was exploring if the x3d was a big changer or not. My rig is mostly for general use and flight sims; exploring video creation with some of my liberation campaigns too. No VR either. I tried it once with my 2070 and hp reverb 2, but didn't care for the quality. TrackIR for me Liberation Campaign can be a resource hog too when playing the full maps and drops FPS tremendously if not culled and ran on a dedicated server. This is where I do most of my flying until EG comes out with their dynamic campaign. Hence this is where I thought maybe the L3 cache would help.
