  1. When it's on for me, it's like it is trying to interpolate every other frame with everything but the aircraft models themselves, so when I'm near aircraft, they are blinking on and off, so it looks terrible. If I load the game with Oculus tool tray having a DCS profile that forces ASW off the planes don't blink.
  2. You're right. I loaded DCS without the HMD on and it was showing the games FPS as though it were on monitor. As soon as I put my finger over the sensor to turn on the HMD it instantly dropped to 45 FPS. Is ASW stuck on even when you have it off in the Oculus Tool Tray? When I don't force that to turn it off, aircraft blink on and off when they're close to me. If I force it off they don't blink, I thought it was being caused by ASW trying to interpolate missing frames in.
  3. Good lord, 41 minute video for this?! Is there a cliff notes version? Or better yet a PDF. People are in love with hearing themselves talk, couldn't they condense this?
  4. LOL, for most of us, NONE of that is self explanitory. It's like saying "This is self explanitory, it's so easy" and showing a bunch of laymen C++ code. It looks simple like Basic Programming, but it might as well be machine code to me, neither one makes any sense to me and I can't do anything with it unless someone says "Put this here and that there" Then I still don't know Why or How it works, just that it did what it was supposed to because that guy said to do these things I don't understand.
  5. I want to play this as a game. FC3 seem to be suited for that. Labels tell you what the target is, I'm trying to play without them but it's hard in VR. The other aircraft get really involved. I bought A10C and still haven't even turned it on after owning it for months now. It comes with a 700 page manual!!! I'm not reading that, I'm jumping on a multiplayer server and some friends will teach me how to use it. From what I'm told, FC3 planes are baby's toys compared to the others available. I think I read somewhere the DCS used to use large aircraft models that would look stupid on an airport but made it easier to see aircraft in the distance while flying. Right now, I only see tiny dot's that might appear at 40 NM out in the distance, and you can forget about seeing any missles in VR without labels
  6. Is anyone using Oculus Rift in VR with the 2.0 Beta of Oculus Home? I opted out of it because Beta didn't work well on my computer, it causes major problems with my multi monitor setup. I just saw a feature of Dash within Oculus 2.0 beta that makes me want to try it again. I saw someone playing DCS and they used Dash to overlay a youtube video screen on the cockpit and it looked natural! DCS is such a resource hog, I'm afraid to even attempt it. I only have a 1060 6gb card that is usually at 99% usage according to task manager any time DCS is actually loaded into a game be it single player or multiplayer. I have 16 gb of memory, which so far hasn't really had any issues, I've never seen any actual evidence of a memory leak despite the talk about it. I set a 20 gb page file, so usage of actual ram hasn't exceeded 12 GB that I've seen. Considering the current load on my system, would running in Beta and trying to use Dash to watch videos in the cockpit absolutely kill my video performance? I have an 17 7700k. I'm confident my machine CPU would have no problems at all. I just think I MIGHT run out of ram but not likely. However the video card being at 99% usage just being loaded into DCS is what I'm concerned with. Does anyone else have Oculus Rift and use dash to overlay videos on the cockpit? How does it perform for you? Also, what Nvidia drivers are you on?
  7. Turning off Anti Aliasing features in game and applying them through Nvidia control panel works on mine. It smooths out the jagged edges on a lot of things and doesn't effect FPS. I'm pretty sure it is doing this post rendering. Screenshots do not have the effects applied, so a plane is jagged and looks different than what I'm seeing in the HMD. I only have the Steam version of DCS. CTRL+1 on the numberpad either activates or deactivates ASW I can't remember. ASW is a technology for Oculus Rift that will interpolate every other frame and inject it in order to simulate 90 FPS. In order for this to work your video card must be able to maintain at least 45 FPS. ASW has terrible effects on this game, so I am assuming that CTRL+1 turns it off. I use a Tool Tray program called Oculus Tool Tray that forces DCS to load with ASW disabled. I don't know how the different texture res would effect VR either. I have all my visuals set to high on textures and those things. I needed an SSD so the constant loading wouldn't cause pauses.
  8. Thanks for telling me what you do. What Video card do you have? I have a 1060 6GB and it's probably pretty close to its limit at 45 FPS. I use Oculus Tool Tray and force ASW off because it makes things look weird on my headset.
  9. Yes that's exactly what it's like, however that feels natural to me. When I look at it to read, I focus my eyes on the chat panel and it comes into view naturally, I just need to use VR Zoom to read it because the res is not so great. I Usually hit Shift+tab to make it go away anyway when I'm not using it to chat. It took a little bit for my brain to accept that what I was seeing there was a box overlayed on top of the cockpit with opacity so I could see through it. At first it looked like the letters behind the cockpit were out of place to me. But that's because they were on top of it and the panel was translucent, then it all came together and now it looks normal to me.
  10. I was playing this campaign and enjoying it. I got to the second mission and fought a couple planes and made the landing. But for some reason it didn't count it. So when I went to play it again it was going to make me fly the night mission again. I didn't feel like flying that one again so I just loaded level 3 as a mission. That one seemed to play fine but the aircraft were invincible when I got up to them. Am I not supposed to shoot them? I know I can set planes to invincible in the mission editor when I'm making my own. Either that's how their set or the game was glitching for me. I don't know. I'm going to try it again real quick, but is this intentional? Do the missions absolutely have to be done through the campaign or they won't work correctly?
  11. Nvidia announced it's 1180 card. Is this the "Volta" chipset everyone was saying would make DCS run much better? That's not what they list the chipset name as. The speculation says $699 for the card, do you think it will be close to that?
  12. Ahh, so is that an AI F15E we're seeing in the video footage or can we actually use an F15E in this game somehow?
  13. As long as the speeds and everything like CAS match, you should be ok, otherwise ram will usually slow itself down to the slowest speed stick and you end up getting lowered performance.
  14. What weapons are loaded on that F15 at 3:09? It looks like it's doing a ground attack and this is DCS game footage isn't it? I wonder what weapons it is deploying at that time stamp.
  15. It doesn't bother me, I just need to focus my eyes on the window and it comes into focus. It feels completely natural to the way our vision really works to me. I do have to use VR Zoom to read it though, the resolution kind of sucks in VR.
  16. LOL! Nothing really requires 64 gb of ram except maybe a server and not for running DCS. 32 GB is a bit much, but they recommend it. The game plays fine for me in VR with 16 gb ram. I've not even seen this memory leak happen yet. I have task manager open on the second monitor all the time and I can see the ram usage. It uses a lot of ram but it flushes it out often. If there is a leak, it shouldn't be flushing anything out, it should run out of control and eventually crash.
  17. I don't think they're concerned with a specific timeframe, rather providing a sandbox. All their aircraft are based on declassified info, so we won't see anything like F22 or Apache. So it seems to be declassified specific and not time frame specific. It seems the direction is to accurately simulate aircraft based on all available information and if they can't get that information, they don't want to make the aircraft.
  18. I have VR on a system that isn't as good as the guy posting earlier. Our experiences in VR are opposite. I have a 1060 6gb, an I7 7700k and 16 gb ram. His 1080ti should outperform my 1060 by leaps and bounds. Yet I am able to enjoy it in VR with my lesser card. I can play campaigns, they have all loaded fine for me, I've even paid for them and I'm fine with it. I enjoy playing with the mission editor and I'm finding that the poor performing missions for the large part have one thing in common with my poorly performing experiments in the mission editor. I've paid no mind to resource usage and have litterally littered the map with junk all over the place that doesn't need to be there. If I make something imagining I'm making a war, but you don't see most of it because you only see what's in your view. That was a HUGE waste of resources, and it effected the performance. VR is resource heavy, and it really only lags for me on poorly designed missions. However, I have not tried any missions with bombing yet, so that may very well be an issue I just haven't experienced yet.
  19. How did you unlock the vsync to the headset? Your screenshots are showing high FPS in VR, so far I haven't been able to get out of 45 FPS. I don't think my card is capable of running much higher than 45 FPS, but it certainly feels like it is locked in place. How are you getting 93 FPS or 317 FPS? You're not locked to Vsync of HMD which is usually 45 or 90.
  20. Thank you for sharing these, they will come in usefull. Please share more when you can :)
  21. I'm playing with the editor right now. If I put a lot of units all over the place the performance goes to crap on me at 16 GB. I really have to make an effort too. I think for the most part you won't have an issue with 16 GB. 32 GB would be good for missions where the author was extremely wasteful with resources. Like simulating a war with a bunch of units fighting even though you or nobody else is going to be in the area to see anything. I can't wait to see what they've done with the update to optimize the performance.
  22. Does anyone that runs a server on their personal machine have this problem? The mouse snaps back to the screen where DCS is running no matter what you do, which means you can not use your computer to multitask at all because the GUI is impossible to access.
  23. Here's something I'm hoping is a bug. I have a dual monitor system. When I load a server, I can't alt tab effectively. I can switch between programs, but if I move my mouse outside the boarders of the window the server is run on, it snaps back to the server screen in aprox 1 to 2 seconds. I can't get to anything before the mouse snaps back. Can this be fixed so it acts like all other windows programs and doesn't overtake my computer?
  24. Or you could actually explain what you are trying to convey if you have no video or track. Just communicate. I had no clue what you were complaining about, I thought it was just an F15 limping home after being hit. I have had both my wings blown off and I still had control and was able to land the plane. I don't know if it is bugged or not, but I certainly didn't think it should be possible to land a plane with no wings from the ailerons going out and missing a flap. It didn't lose control when the speed dropped which is what I was expecting. I've also hit planes with missles and the missle had no effect on them.
  25. I play this as a game. Sure it's a simulator, but I play it for entertainment. I had no idea Aim 120D is only for newer planes, good. This doesn't have them, so nobody is going to be firing missles from 80 NM away. I would assume if they put a missle in the game that was capable of that, it could lock and fire at whatever distance it is supposed to. Don't care about the f14b, but if they want to make it and put in a phoenix missle, then so be it. Hopefully that doesn't mean it's an insta kill all the time from so far away. I'm sure it isn't because like you said.... This is a simulator. I enjoy this as a game, just like many others that get shot down hundreds of times and just respawn to do it again.
