  1. Lol :)
  2. I had to find videos on youtube that explained how to set them up. There are very good tutorials on youtube.
  3. I think feefifofum is right. But when you make your group of planes did you assign them parking spots on the airport through the menu? and select take off from ramp. If you set their task to CAP they'll follow your waypoints that you set for them and will engage if they see you from that path. Your triggers conditions and actions are correct. Late activate is being used correctly. I'm wondering if starting them on the ground at an enemy airfield is causing a problem though.
  4. They work for me in VR, I'm using Oculus rift. On the F15 they disappear when you get to over 60 knots I think, then you don't see them when you're flying around. But they're there when you land. I'm sure this is still a work in progress. I haven't tried it on any of the other planes yet.
  5. Just recently the game started playing terrible in VR. It starts out fine, then it starts to get jittery over time until it's at the point where you're practically seeing trails when you move your head. I have to quit the game and restart it to make the tracking go back to normal, then it does it again when it starts to use ram. Please fix this.
  6. I made a few missions that play sounds on the radio frequencies and it worked for the people that joined my server. I don't know if this makes a difference, I had it set to easy communications. Here is a screenshot of a trigger that works for me. This will play music over the radio when anyone in the coalition enters the trigger zone, all the entries under actions are the same but going to specific radio channels. If you wanted the sounds to play to each player as they enter the zone, I would assign each player a group and then change the middle one that says "Part of Coalition in zone" to "Part of group in zone" and Select the plane you just assigned a group to. Do that for each plane you want your players to use, you can set the radio frequencies on each plane then. I think that would work. Well forget the screenshot, I can't just add a photo, I have to find a host and share it? Too much effort. Switched condition. Part of Coalition in zone, and an action for every single plane you want to hear the music or sound file, each one set to their correct frequency - Plays sound to whole coalition when any plane enters the zone. Switched condition, Part of Group in Zone, and action for specific aircraft by radio frequencie - Plays to individual planes as they enter the zone, be sure to assign each plane a group. This one will need an entire entry (Triggers, condition, action) for each plane that you want to hear the sound. That should work. I have mine set up this way to play robotech music for the group, and there's one guy that always takes off from the taxi way so I set up one that plays clown music into his session when he does that and that uses the Player as group condition.
  7. I'm not sure if this is the right forum to make this request, so I apologize if this is in the wrong area. I love that the community can share skins, missions, mods, and campaigns they make. Is there any way that an omit filter can be added to the filters on the user files page? I would like to be able to omit "Skins" from the results so I can see everything else, there's just so many skins that get added every day that it gets exhausting looking for missions. I would certainly still download skins and like to look at them, I just would like to be able to filter further so I can find missions easily and skins are the one category that overwhelms everything else.
  8. Put the MIZ file wherever you want, you just have to point to the directory from DCS when you want to load the mission. I have a folder on my desktop called "DCS Missions". I just point to that directory and it shows all those missions in that folder in DCS.
  9. I don't know if there's a tutorial, I learned from this guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=329617142 If you do get it, consider getting Flaming Cliffs 3 because you get a bunch of other aircraft with it including the F15C.
  10. I have no idea why others use it. I use it because I got an account when it was brand new and half life 2 was the new game. I hadn't used it since, then I got an Oculus Rift. Steam had VR games that Oculus Home didn't so I had a reason to use Steam again. I was done with flight sims years ago, I just happened to stumble on this simulator because of steam, it was one of the games that caught my eye. It never occurred to me that I should go outside of steam and see if there was in fact a stand alone version, I'm wasn't invested in it at the time, I was an impulse buyer that was window shopping. I imagine there are thousands of people playing DCS that came upon it in the same way. Steam seems to be a good place to find games since it is a venue like Amazon or Ebay but for Developers (Sellers) and Video Game players (Buyers). I would think from a developers stand point (Eagle dynamics) Having your product on Steam would be common sense, and releasing products that may get negative reviews could directly effect your conversion rate so I understand why they would not want to put new releases on steam until they feel they are ready. Steam probably accounts for a very large portion of their revenue.
  11. NVM, I re-read the OP and found it in the Briefing section. There's a new button there! Thanks guys, this works!
  12. I found this link: https://github.com/mrSkortch/DCS-miscScripts/issues/1 It says something was fixed and grimes approved. For whatever reason, this link has a downloadable zip file whereas the other one just shows the code. So I extracted this. I backed up all the files that the archive will replace and I copied them over. The mission editor loads. Without instructions I have no clue what I'm supposed to do, but at least it loads up and doesn't freeze. So where do I go to add or move coalitions? I don't see any new buttons anywhere.
  13. What? DCS already takes 105 GB on a hard drive as it is, I would have to devote another 105 GB to a hard drive just to be able to copy and paste? This editor is sorely lacking very basic functions. Just out of curiosity, how do you even attempt to install the mod? The link provided above goes to a github link and when you click on the file it just shows you code. Are you supposed to copy and paste that somewhere? There are no instructions whatsoever provided so I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with it. Apparently it won't work anyway, but I'd like to know how to actually try to install it in case this gets updated.
  14. Ahhh I forgot to use windows functions, completely forgot. I went to the link, how do you download from there? When I click on what I thought the file was, it opens a window and shows all this code. Am I supposed to copy and paste that somewhere? Or is this something I can just install? I don't see any instructions at all. I get the feeling GitHub is a place for brains to go and it is assumed that much info is already known. How would a barely functioning human being install this?
  15. Because eds information isn't accurate. All their maps said 60 GB, it's like it was a boiler plate number they just threw in there to fill the space on the website. I don't know if they changed any descriptions since I bought, but I own NTTR and Normandy. Those were both listed as 60 GB required. They're both installed now, that should be at least 120 GB for the two maps alone. My entire SSD that is dedicated to DCS is 250 GB. The entire amount being used for the install with the maps is 105 GB. That includes the game and all the other modules I've purchased. They're clearly not accurate in the listing of requirements for the maps at the very least. I would expect the map to be in the 20+ gb size and it will grow as they add to it. I don't think it'll get too much bigger than that though. I have no idea why ED overestimates the required space by such HUGE margines, perhaps they want to give themselves room to add to the maps so they COULD potentioally get to these ridiculous sizes, but what developer in their right mind would do that? "What? A piece of DLC exceeds or takes nearly half of a hard drives available space? Our customers will just buy new hard drives, why optimize anything?" I don't for one second believe any of their maps will take that much space because it's unrealistic to expect your users to accept this and NOT seek an alternative that is more reasonable. Are we going to end up daisy chaining a hundred SSDs together because we'll eventually need an entire one PER DLC?
  16. NTTR is the biggest? Wow I didn't know. I have all of them but Persian Gulf because it hasn't come out yet on steam. NTTR seems like the smallest one because.... Well it's boring. All flat land with mountains surrounding the cities. It seems like the smallest one, even Normandy seems larger because it has more going on down there. Georgia seemed large when I first got this game, now all the maps seem pretty small actually.
  17. Yes I get that, but what map are they using and what location of that map is supposed to be mig alley. Mig Alley is the first thing I think of when "cold war" is mentioned and I'm thinking of dog fights. Caucasus looks like it could offer a lot of terrain that could mimick that but there's trees. I'd like to see where it is so I can fly through it on my single player game.
  18. Every new user file mission is for the Persian Gulf map. Nothing interesting is going up because I'm stuck on steam since I wasted money on non transferable modules and maps. A STUPID policy, a receipt from Steam showing proof of purchase should be sufficient to allow us to switch to stand alone, instead I'm expected to lose all that investment and re-purchase here if I want it again. RIDICULOUS! That being said, I'll give your mission a try if ED ever decides to release the map on Steam. I get missions from the DCS User files linked above all the time, though not lately because everything is for PG.
  19. You put it anywhere, you just need to know the directory path so when you go to mission editor to load the miz file you can tell DCS where to look for it.
  20. Thank you for the link. Copy and pasting seems like it would take forever. I didn't realize you couldn't just drag a bounding box around units and ctrl+c; ctrl+v. I also can't have two missions opened at the same time, so how does this even work to copy and paste? Do I have to actually load one mission, find the item I want and copy it to clipboard with CTRL+C, THEN close this mission and open the target mission where I want to paste and THEN Ctrl+V after the mission loads and then rinse and repeat for every single item on the map?!!!! If that's how this works, I hope they either delegate development of this editor out to another group that will make it user friendly, or that new RTS guy they're hiring is hopefully going to be forced to work on this first because if we have to open and close mission files just to use a copy and paste function, this thing is terribly designed.
  21. How do you add a coalition to an existing mission like one you would download from the DCS User files? I want to be able to add the USAAgressor countries on the enemy sides so I can fly an F15c. I want to play missions where I can just dominate the hell out of the AI with an F15c, so I want to be able to do WW2 missions and add in the F15 if I'm on the non usa side. I can't seem to find a way to do this in the editor, when I try to find the info on google, it looks like this has been a feature not in this game for years and there are requests going as far back as 2012 requesting this. The only work around I've seen mentioned involved editing a LUA file and it would only let you swap out countries or something and it was completely confusing with all kinds of warnings to back things up because chances are you're going to make a typo and mess everything up. It looked like you would edit what looks like an Autoexec.bat file but it's not that, it's a LUA file. Is there a way to add other countries to missions that have already been created? If not, can I create a new mission and add the countries THEN go to the old mission and copy and paste EVERYTHING over to the new mission? Either this is extremely difficult for ED to implement into the mission editor or they simply couldn't care less about peoples desire to do this so they're not even going to bother with it, they're too busy adding things like rain drops to canopys.
  22. It's showing up on mine with density of 7. Fog is unchecked so the Visibility and Thickness functions are not applying. So I have full visibility, there are scattered clouds in the sky and I can see rain drops on the canopy while I'm at the airport on the ground. I'm using VR. When you move the wind actually appears to be influencing the rain drops. Weather this is actually an effect caused by wind or it's just an animation being played when it knows you're moving I have no clue but it looks convincing. When you get over 50 knots or so it starts to dissappear and next thing you know there's no rain effect at all. So this eyecandy only shows up at the airport. This effect is impressive, but it seems like they needed useless busy work for an intern to do or something and this is it. It's awesome, but completely unnecessary. I'll always have it on since it doesn't effect FPS in any way shape or form on my mid level GTX 1060 6gb card so I'm sure most of you wouldn't notice a performance hit. I'd still like this to be developed so we see the rain effects while we're flying, then it would end up being a much more worthwhile endeavor since it wouldn't only appear in one tiny spot which you might only notice on take off if you're paying attention. Visibility difficulties due to rain would add a bit of immersion to landing that most flight sims don't do. That water collecting on the canopy would be nerve racking when you're coming in on approach in heavy rain and wind.
  23. I set music to play through the radios on some of my missions. You set the comms channel when you create the plane. Then when you make the trigger, just make sure it broadcasts to the right channel. The problem I've run into in Multiplayer on my own missions with the sound set up that way, is that the music is qued when ANYONE flys through that trigger zone. So if one trigger is playing music to the channel and someone else flys through another trigger with sound it will play that sound on top of the one that hasn't finished playing yet if their trigger plays on the same radio channel. I have clown music set up on triggers on the ends of all my taxi ways so that everyone knows some clown can't be bothered to use the runway to take off, and unfortunately this plays on top of the awesome music sometimes. I'm sure I'm doing it wrong, I have no idea what I'm doing in this editor half the time, but that seems to work to get it to actually play music the way you described.
  24. What map are they using? And what part of that map is "Mig Alley"? (Where the Yalu River empties into the Yellow Sea)
  25. They'll get that part of the map addressed soon. Enjoy what you can with it. It could be worse, you could be a steam user who just gets to read about it and can't play anywhere because everyone is already using this map while we sit here like idiots twiddling our thumbs... You may not be able to do Instant Action missions, there's a large demographic that can't even play it.
