For some time, I haven't been able to fly this aircraft because it no longer responds normally to the HOTAS Warthog joystick. This problem occurs only in this jet. All other inputs respond normally, such as the mouse, Oculus rift "hands", and the TM HOTAS throttle and its switches. Essentially, all it does is rapidly twitch in the direction you try to move it in, like for the briefest fraction of a second. You can't even take control of it with the Rift hands. I hope this is the right area to post this in.

Okay, so my once future-proofed supercomputer is bogging down with all manner of crap-ware and what-not, and it's long past time to nuke it and start afresh. Problem is, it's got so much valuable stuff on it, and I'm wary of losing some of it. Pictures, videos, and the like I have covered by putting on M-Disks, but trying to figure out and remember programs, passwords, etc. THOUSANDS of VR games, and just about every DCS plane in my stable. But I've gotten lazy over the years, and let me tell you I'm no fan of that damned Google Drive helping themselves to my pictures and videos. I'd really like to do this right with a minimum of hassle. I own Windows 1 pro original software and license, so that shouldn't be a problem. Those NVMe chips are a pain, though. Any guidance would greatly appreciated!!

Oh wow! Is this a recent addition? For at least a year, the throttle would work in "V/STOL practice" mission without doing anything like this. Could you tell me where I should look for the procedures? Thank you very much!!

Hi ! I apologize in advance if this sounds vague or incomplete. Please let me know how to give you any info that you need to solve this issue. I've had DCS and this aircraft for years, but being as busy with life as my family and I have been, I've never learned this system to the level that I've wanted and intended to learn it. I have the TM HOTAS throttle and stick, and all was well until maybe 6 months ago. I always download the latest releases on the occasions when I can check in. Still, it persists: No matter what I do, the throttle does not function. I've tried reassigning the throttle and nozzle angle to various buttons/sliders, but the throttle does not move. I'm not sure that it matters, but I use the Oculus Rift, and have for several years now, without issue until a few months ago. This is by far my favorite plane, and I own about 3/4ths of all available, so that's saying something! Thank you very much!

I have no excuse, other than a rapidly diminishing memory (TBI-Induced) that has made learning particularly challenging lately, so I really should be further along with this at this point. As well as flying and operating skills, I've managed to learn next to nothing about what seems like the next logical step after VR: the tactile and inner-ear sensations that only a full-motion seat and-or those pneumatic "G-Suits" that rapidly inflate and deflate to simulate changes in induced G-forces. What I would like to find out is where my money and home-building effort will be best spent on a somewhat modest budget, both in cash and in time, although I do have some good news: I've been approved for 100 percent service-connected disability due to TBI, Severe complex PTSD, complications from bullet and shrapnel wounds, severe insomnia, and a list of other things, which means lots more money lots more time, my wife will be home to take care of me and paid for it more than she made at work, a quarter-mil in life insurance for her if I kick the bucket (a HUGE relief on me!), Full medical, dental, and tuition for everybody, and a massive retroactive pay check ($5500/month X 3 years over the $2400/month I'm currently paid at 60%, which includes my wife's stipend) That will pay our bills, buy us decent, safe, reliable cars of 5 or so years of age, and a VA home loan down-payment on a home big enough for us, my elderly mom-in-law and aunt-in-law, and a sizable piece of property big enough for our ADHD kids to run around in all day in relative safety. It's not what my chief petty officer's retirement pay would have been had I retired, rather than med-boarded after 15 years, but I'll take it. The stress-relief is indescribable! Sorry about the tangent, but my point being that I should be able to afford to build whatever type TRULY confers the most realistic experience, and have the space for it, and there has apparently been no end of controversy over this. That, and I can finally relax, and learn these simulations to my heart's content, which is one of my dreams! Can anybody shed some light on this, or point me in the right direction? So what exactly is the slew upgrade, and how does it make flying easier/better?

Hi ! I've just got a couple quick questions: First-what is the best software for recording what I see in my VR display while playing DCS, and second- what kind of single-throw switch would I need to buy to replace the EAC: Arm/Off switch on the Warthog throttle? I have been using D3D, but the "game" and "oculus Rift" modes do not work with DCS, only "desktop", and DCS only occupies the middle third of my desktop display when playing DCS. As far as the switch; does anyone know if it's just a typical DPST or SPST switch? Which one? Whould you go somewhere like Mouser to find it? Thanks!

I'm really not certain. It says "Up to 1000 MBPS download speed", so whatever that means in standard usage. I'm not as computer-savvy as I'd like to be ,or ought to be, considering the obscene amounts of money I mindlessly blow on this stuff, which drives my wife crazy. When I'm selling the latest gadget purchase to her, though, I sound like an IT guru.

Our internet service provider, Cox, is offering me "for a limited time only!" a service called Gigablast. I currently have download speeds of up to 170 or so megabytes per second, depending on what time of day it is, etc. For$27 more (plus some other hidden charges, no doubt, like a faster modem/router rental), I can get up to a gigabyte per second download speed, or, for about $20 more, I can get up to 550 MBPS. Right now, we have a desktop, a laptop, a tablet, and 2 fartphones. I play DCS and a lot of other VR games, and we watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu. I could be wrong, but I suspect I'm fine right where I'm at, though it is often frustrating that things can take a long time to download, and it's a mood-killer when the naughty stuff that my wife likes to watch ends up needing buffering time (though this is infrequent.

No expert here, but I always thought that DCS in VR benefitted more from a better graphics card, if you already had a decent CPU? I also thought that the 1080ti and 2080ti were better at this than the 1080 and 2080, respectively, and that the 2080s only gave you a noticable improvement in games that used ray-tracing?

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that you'd be better off going with at least 1Tb in one NVMe, rather than two 500Gb NVMe's. If down the road you want more things on this type of drive, you can always add a second NVMe that's either 1 or 2 TB, and you won't have that 500Gb one collecting dust. I've got two 1Tb ones, and I wish that I had just gotten a 2Tb one instead. It would be great to have all my games and OS on these drives. There's also the fact that these perform better and last longer if they're not packed to the rafters.

Hi all! How is everybody? I'm getting ready to unplug all external and internal drives (8 of them) with the exception of the C-Drive, because it's been 2 years since I bought a new MB, CPU, PSU, M2 drives, GPU, and RAM sticks, loaded it all in the old box, and installed Windows 10, and everything is slowing down and getting buggy, especially installed games. Bitmaster gave me some excellent advice, very patiently going back and forth with me via PM, and I want to give him a break for a bit, though I'm sure he would go on for ages without complaining if I never stopped. One of the things he suggested was to leave most of the games on the drives, because I have 579 games on Steam, several hundred on Oculus, and dozens on Viveport (yes, I went nuts when I first got my Oculus, and just couldn't stop buying everything that seemed like it would be worth trying) and unplug all but the C-Drive, which happens to be an NVMe, saying that I could use the installers to link up with the games again after I reinstall the OS and re-plug the drives. My problem Is that I don't know how to do this for these platforms, and also this: my games are all over the place in "relocated" or overflow libraries. I tried putting everything on the two 1TB NVME drives, but these quickly filled, and I had to assign the 2TB SATA SSD, then the various HDDs as secondary, or relocated, libraries. I would like to put all the games, pictures, music, and documents on the 6TB HDD I just bought (a speedy 7200 RPM, 256MB cache drive), and put my various simulators, Word, the OS, and programs on the NVMe's.Can I just copy and paste the games from their various homes, deposit them onto the 6TB HDD, and have the game installers hunt for and install them? If so, how is this done, generally-speaking (or specifically if you have the time)? Something tells me, however, that it's not nearly that easy.

I might just buy this, if only to have a working set of headphones and working cable when these inevitably crap the bed on mine. I'll check back in a few weeks when I have some expendable money. Are you selling this because you got newer gear? If so, what did you get? I can't imagine that VR lost its novelty.

Do not alter the jobs once created, rather delete them and make them new. " Also, I have a 10Tb Fantom drives USB 3.1 drive to use for backing everything up. What I want to do is get all of my irreplacable stuff, like pictures, music, documents etc onto this drive, and do fresh installs of programs, apps, and of course Windows, so does it make sense for me to delete games,(many of which have been acting buggy lately), DCS, programs, etc BEFORE I do a back-up to the drive (using True Image), or just back-up as-is now, then pick through it after formatting all drives when I do the Windows install? Also, I thought I read somewhere that it's a good idea to get a current list of all drivers (MOBO, GPU, etc) and download the latest drivers onto a DVD or CD before reinstalling windows? What software would you recommend that could give me a list of all the drivers in my system? Any other advice for this newbie would be greatly appreciated!

Hey BitMaster! I just joined! I'm on a medium cycle for now, but after I reinstall the OS, I'll do more. Speaking of; can you give me some guidance on this? I got a 10TB back-up drive, and some software that looks up license keys. Can you give me any other advice for doing this as smoothly and effectively as possible? Oh yeah; I also got some backup software called AOMEI that's supposed to make this as painless and fool-proof as possible, but I trust you more.

Amazing! It has to be said; there is nothing like Russian ingenuity! I'm reminded of another Russian guy on Youtube, who shows how he builds beautiful, complex, and powerful (up to 300 lbs thrust) jet engines in his basement machine shop. I could watch that guy for days!

Thanks, guys! Happy Easter to you too, B.M! I do have a bunch of different drives, including two M2 NVMe drives, but the M2 drives are both 1TB, and I didn't put the OS alone on it's own C-drive. I guess this means I've got to take my time and plan this out carefully. I guess I could unplug the other drives after transferring files from C to other drives, and re-download the program files on it? Also, I bought Windows 10 online from MS, so I'm guessing that I'll need to figure out what my password is for that? It's painful being this computer-illiterate!
