Hi ! So far, I'm having a blast with the F-14. My only complaint is that when I attempt to fly the free-flight mission at the Persian Gulf in Quick missions, it gets "stuck" while loading, in VR, at least. Is there any way to repair this from here? I do have that DCS Updater Utility, so I'm wondering if there's something I can do with that? Thanks!

[NO BUG] SP Iran Nuclear Strike mission is missing waypoints
ElCuco68 replied to toilet2000's topic in Bugs and Problems
I got all excited, thinking there was a mission where you could nuke Iran. Hitting an Iranian nuclear power plant still sounds cool. I hope they end up developing a mission where you can hit Kim Jung Un's palace. -
I'd think that it's nothing that 32gb of RAM couldn't cure, but I could be wrong.

That guy wants $530, including shipping, for a used rig, when you can get it new on Amazon for about $470 shipped, brand-new. https://www.amazon.com/ThrustMaster-2960720-Thrustmaster-Hotas-Warthog/dp/B00371R8P4/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=thrustmaster+warthog&qid=1552712833&s=gateway&sr=8-3

That's a good deal! I got mine from ebay for $640, but that happened after months of searching and failed bids.

Bud, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you can actually get them cheaper at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B01G6GT4A8/ref=dp_olp_new_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=new&coliid=IK4R52VQLIC6W&colid=96CTP6TLMOOS You might want to knock them down to $200 or so, otherwise people will go for the Amazon warranty/retuyrn policy.

Friend is having problems with his computer
ElCuco68 replied to ElCuco68's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
He's using an EVGA GTX-1080Ti, and the same MB as me. It's a brand-new system, so I'm assuming he has new drivers. I told him where to find this thread, so hopefully he'll join us at some point. -
There is a guy named Maurycy Gratkiewicz on the DCS VR Aviators group on Facebook, and he's having a problem with his rig. It seems like he's got the right equipment, but maybe needs some help with tuning it for DCS. Here is his post: "Specialy bought latest, PC for our love DCS, i was shocked I9 9900K DDR4 32G 3000 MHz, Samsung 970 Pro m.2 and only 25/30 fps with everything on mac settings, and 1080p resolution, i remember when I’ve got I7 6700K and 980Ti hybryd with 16G ram, and that wirks much softer and without „slideshow” Im affraid to connect oculus...I don’t wanna disapoint..." Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Especially looking for input from Bitmaster:helpsmilie:

Damn ! I just paid $600 for the watercooled version of this card.
-
I've also got a Warthog throttle and stick with a few broken buttons that I'll probably sell.
-
These look awesome ! Can I make a couple suggestions? Take BIG pictures with a manual-focus DSLR, so every button and its label is easily readable. Listing the price for these would be helpful, as it gives a ballpark estimate to work with when deciding on a planned button scheme to inquire about. Still, WOW do these look nice!

New build hardware recommendations?
ElCuco68 replied to JG-1_Vogel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Did you really say "No VR"? I'm guessing that you've never played DCS in VR. -

Hey, sorry about being M.I.A. Had some crises to attend to. I'll get back here later today with results. -
Strange overclocking results
ElCuco68 replied to ElCuco68's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
As of last count, I've got 12 fans pulling in and pushing out air, 6 of then just on the radiators. I'm pulling air in from the front and bottom, and I have 3 fans on the top pushing air out, and seemingly doing a good job of it. Certainly better than my last set up, where for some reason I was trying to pull in air through the top, and pushing it passively out the back. -

Okay, I'll do exactly that tonight. Let me ask you; would you set up another OC profile in BIOS that uses 5.0GHz, 4.8, 4.6, or some other value(s), and appropriately lowered voltages, to use under most circumstances, instead of 5.2 all the time? Or, how would you set things up for different circumstances? How about fan profiles? There's this button that's always on-screen, with presets like "silent, standard, turbo, and full speed" that apparently turn the fans up at different temperatures. I've noticed that if I forget I left it on silent or standard (usually silent is the one at which it does this), and I run small fft's, or on a couple occasions when I was using the Oculus, it's crashed. I also noticed that I only have a few temperature sensor readings; lots of blank spaces. I wonder if I should be buying sensors, or setting up ones that I don't know I have? -

Wow! Brother, I'm so sorry you went through that! My kids are my whole world, and I can understand how terrifying that must have been! I'm very glad to hear that he's okay, thank God ! Sound's like computers/ sims have been a recurring theme in your life. My first experience with flight sims goes way back to 1986, when I was a submarine crewman on a ballistic missile boat. The NAVET's had a computer in NAVCENTER with one of the big, green CRT screens, and the first "Gunship" game which, by today's standards, looks pretty silly. Back then, though, that seemed absolutely amazing. Then, in 1989, I was stationed at a clinic at Mayport, FL, when we got the Navy's very first medical records computers. Again, very archaic by today's standards, but boy did it feel space-age! We were mesmerized by the fact that letters and numbers magically appeared on the screen as soon as we pressed the corresponding buttons on a keyboard. We felt like NASA engineers playing with that thing! Even more amazing was our ability to send messages all the way to the other side of the clinic as soon as we pressed the buttons, just like magic! I thought to myself "we're gonna be flying in hover-cars, and beaming to the other side of the planet by 2020!". Well, I tried doing exactly what you said (the only thing i needed to change SVID from "typical" to Auto. CPU SVID support was already disabled, and offset was zero, but nothing changed, unfortunately. I could still read wattage in HWInfo, too. -
Looking at this: http://forum.vkb-sim.pro/viewtopic.php?f=28&p=32230#p32230 Don't ya just LOVE the attitude? I wonder; did you guys acost these people at gunpoint and demand they go into the flight-stick business? I'm starting to wonder if I might have just happened upon what I can be doing with my retirement and my basement machine shop.
-
Sounds like they're shifting their focus to the space-sim demographic. Man, if they didn't like OUR impatience, are they in for an eye-opener!
-
I'm not convinced they really want any kind of volume from the U.S., brother. Personally, I'm at the point that I might see if there's something I can make in my humble little basement machine shop. The only thing I don't have ready at the moment is CNC, but I have a pretty good relationship with the local schools, which are well-equipped.

Hey DevilDog! What Bn were you with? I was a chief corpsman with 1/2, 2DMARDIV.

Hey! Been trying to contact you.

Will VKB and VirPil ever get their stuff together?
ElCuco68 replied to ElCuco68's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Well, thwarted once again! The guy from Virpil, acting all hurt because I so unjustly accused them of poor customer service, told me to come back today, when the store would be open. I did, and before I could pay, the base was removed from my cart and marked "out of stock". I couldn't even pre-order. I'm done. I'm getting ready to order the FSSB lightning base, and use it with the Warthog grip that I was able to pick up for $50. It will be a better product anyway. -

Oh, please kid, regale us with your wisdom about the third-world; I'm dying to hear it! I'll bet the house that you've never even set foot into a third-world country, unless maybe it was as a tourist with your mommy and daddy paying the way. Just to let you know, kid; I've actually BEEN to "third-World" countries, places like Somalia (1993), Cuba (1994), Haiti (1994), and Kosovo in 1998, and carrying a RIFLE instead of a beer and a camera, so you'll have to forgive me if I'm not humbled by the lecturing of some fetus who probably got all of his Worldliness from listening to his college professors, who also think they know something about the World despite never having had any hard contact with it. -
So far, I've got pretty much everything I need to squeeze out all the realism DCS is capable of, including Oculus VR goggles. Having tried it using the Oculus, I'm convinced that adding a motion platform with VR would be absolutely breath-taking, and now I'm obsessed with the idea. Once that happens, I go into tunnelvision problem-solving mode to acquire whatever the object of my obsession is, especially when, like this, the above-mentioned object would be considered a non-essential toy by the Treasurer (wife), and the turn-key solutions are very expensive. To that end, I'm committed to finding a DIY means of getting one of these. I have a machine-tool/metalworking shop in my basement, and have built things that were much more elaborate than this, including flying aircraft, so this should be do-able. What I want to do is build a top-notch 6-DOF platform; something very powerful, fast, and accurate. I've already found some builders' forums, and have been asking some questions, but I'm hoping that someone on here might have some background in building one of these as well. As far as I've been able to gather, there are several major types of 6DOF platforms, primarily classified according to whether they use hydraulics or geared motors, as well as other variables. Does anybody on here have any experience with these things?
