That's how it works for me. However, sometimes I get a "CICU ERROR" message at the bottom of the HUD and changing the slew rate doesn't work anymore. I'm not sure if it's a bug or a feature and how to get rid of it... Apart from that. as posted above, I STILL cannot change the default seeker wagon location on the HUD. I press ADJ ON, slew it low where I want it to be and press ENT on UFC. Then, just to test, I slew it to the side and reset with China Hat Aft Short. BHAM!! The wagon goes back to the original position and laughs at me my setup... :O

Sorry to be a pain Guys but can anyone explain these to me: Thanks!

I'll be damned! I just ordered my copy... I'd better be good MadDogMcQ... ;)

I've seen a pig once... No good? ;D

All pilot face textures in the same AI aircraft or helicopter are different. No more "cloned crews"! :D

I treat this BETA as my "Junior Grade Training"... ;P There's a few bits the game needs to have fixed but there are tonnes of other things I need to learn to use this Baby "the right way"...

I loved that series! Makes me smile now when I see it. Thanks for reminding :)

I needed that :) Thanks

1. You fly the best sim ever out for any commercial platform. 2. You fly it now, before it's out. 3. It's the A-10C! 4. It's 85% completed (my own assumption). 5. It will only get better and when it does you'll know how to fly it!

Nice. I just hope it doesn't contain many errors and if so I hope we get rid of them together. Remember, I'm no tutor, rather a "student" myself... :smilewink:

All I can say is WOW! This sim amazes me every day! Understood. I managed to lock using Boresight only once and I was 1,5 NM away from my target...

Update Hi, I've been learning to use the Maverick for the last couple of sessions and came up with a few questions and general image of the missile operation that I would like to share/discuss. Please, bare in mind that I HAVE read the manual and took closer look at the chapters describing this particular matter. If I turn out to have omitted or misunderstood any important details it was either due to turbulence or my poor incapable brain... ;) Please, feel free to point any errors out to me! *** AGM-65 Maverick can be deployed from the A-10C Thunderbolt II using one of the following four methods: Centroid Tracking - Point the wagon onto a target with Slew Switch - Lock will be acquired automatically if conditions are met - If conditions are not met the seeker will enter Break Lock mode - Some sources indicate using the Ground Stabilize function with this technique (TMS Aft Short) – see Note 1 at the end of this post Boresight Tracking - Maneouver the aircraft to place the wagon onto the target - Press TMS Forward Short to Lock - Lock will be acquired if conditions are met - If conditions are not met the seeker will enter Break Lock mode - Some sources indicate making the Maverick wagon SPI first with TMS Forward Long and pressing TMS Forward Short as soon as it is done – I don't understand why this could be a better method Force Correlate Tracking (AGM65H&K only!) - Press Boat Switch Centre to enter this mode (you can switch the crosshair to black with Boat Switch Forward first to be able to tell when and if the mode has been activated – the crosshair will turn back to white) - You can now Lock the seeker with TMS Forward Short and Brake the Lock with TMS Aft Short - Please, see Note 2 at the end of this post Targeting Pod Tracking (TGP must be carried) - Point Track a target with the TGP (TMS Forward Short) - Designate a SPI with it (TMS Forward Long) - Switch to MAV (Coolie Hat Right Short) - Set MAV as SOI (Coolie Hat Right Long) - Slave Maverick seeker to the SPI (China Hat Forward Long) - Re-designate SPI with the Maverick (TMS Forward Long) – this will be get rid off as it's untrue to “real life” operation - Lock (TMS Forward Short) - Lock will be acquired if conditions are met - If conditions are not met the seeker will enter Break Lock mode Notes: The Ground Stabilize function should lock a point on the ground and prevent the seeker from entering Break Lock mode (please refer to the manual, page 340) but it doesn't work for me. The description of the Force Correlate Tracking method is different in the manual – please, refer to it on page 561 where it says that to Ground Stabilize the seeker you need to press TMS Aft Short. It works the opposite for me. *** Apart from the Maverick employment I have found three issues I cannot understand: What is this mode seen on the screenshot, what does it do and... how did I manage to enter it? http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s313/mangaroca2007/Loga%20Signatury%20i%20Gry/ScreenShot_003.jpg How do I change the default Maverick wagon placement on the HUD? I found two different descriptions of how to do this in the manual (pages 342 vs. 561-562) but none of them work for me. I had a strange speed bug after playing with the Mavericks – the aircraft Speedometers were not reacting to Speed Brakes, AOA and throttle position. I managed to land only by observing the surroundings and estimating speed. Even after stopping the HUD was displaying a wrong speed readout although the F2 view was telling the truth. http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s313/mangaroca2007/Loga%20Signatury%20i%20Gry/ScreenShot_000.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s313/mangaroca2007/Loga%20Signatury%20i%20Gry/ScreenShot_002.jpg I hope I haven't upset anybody with this post. It is simply my way of sorting my knowledge. Please, correct me if I'm wrong in any of the above. Thanks for reading!

Regarding the lock ranges for the D&Gs I would suggest trying in different temperatures. I haven't tested it but in a sim such as this one this should be addressed. The colder the environment the easier for the tracker to "see" the hot target signature. I have a different question however. Just to let you know, I've read the manual in regards to this issue but found the explanation "hard to understand". :) How do I adjust the boresight default location? Right now I am pressing: - ADJ ON on MAV MFCD - slew the wagon to a new desired location on the HUD - ENT on the Front Dash (that's what it says in the manual) However, when I engage a target and then I need to "reset" the wagon by China Hat Aft Short it ends up in the same default location, before I changed it... Sorry if I've repeated something but I was unsuccessful in finding an answer to this. Thanks PS. Has this thread moved somewhere else?

I was wondering if anybody tried to edit the skins yet. I had a go yesterday and added a small detail onto my Hog. I opened the texture in Photoshop using the DDS Exporter by nVidia and played with it. After that I have flatten the image and saved it back to .dds. The game worked, the skin loaded and that extra detail was clearly visible but for some reason the texture moved slightly and doesn't properly cover the fuselage. Anybody tried this or had similar problems? Thanks!

Obviously something under his belt...

So Sorry Frederf... ;P

Thanks for doing all that testing! I don't understand why the track doesn't show what really happened (I judge this from what you say - I'm at work now and cannot verify that...). In my track I: - check that the anti skid is ON - I switch the NWS OFF @ ~55 knots - I start rotating @ ~100 knots - something goes wrong and after I'm airborne and try to retract the landing gear my nose wheel stays out (retracting system gets damaged) I'm wondering if this is not visible from the outside but I guess you've checked that... Many times, my nose wheel gets ripped off just like you experienced it. This way or another, whether it's visible in my track or not I appreciate for all your help. I have learned many important things about take-offs and landings in the Hog. I agree that there's a bump on the strip and I officially blame it for my incidents! :D I'll do more tests in Nellis tonight. Thank you! PS. Still cannot start rotating earlier than 95 knots... :/ Would "take-off trimming" help?
-
The nose wheel won't retract as it got damaged - sometimes it falls off... Yes, I'd say this "abandoned" airport seems to be a bit dangerous... I'm moving to Nellis :) PS. Does "rotating" mean lifting the nose wheel off the ground while the main gear stays on?
-
Great answers everyone! Thanks! I've got a track however, where for some reason the nose wheel gets damaged... It happens to me quite often and I don't know why... Any ideas? Test.trk

Hi, Could someone point me in the right direction or explain in detail how to "CORRECTLY" perform a take off and landing? I know that touchdown and lift-off speeds depend on the weight of the aircraft but there obviously are some standardized speeds, angles and techniques. For the time being, I'm trying to touch down at speeds of about 150 (on HUD), with full air brakes, full flaps, nose wheel steering off and 75% thrust. I bet it's wrong because I get the nose wheel ripped off 4 out of 5 times seconds after it touches the ground (landing on the airfield north of Las Vegas, Nevada). I've noticed it's a bit rough but this happens on flat and before I even start braking. Also, in the manual it says to start rising the nose up to about 10 degrees at speeds over 100 (on HUD?) at take offs, keep it that way and let the aircraft lift on it's own. 100 is a bit slow to pitch the nose so I pull the stick all the way which later produces a very unstable take off and a risk of stall. If I keep the nose wheel rolling for too long I end up with a failure and the wheel doesn't retract... Please, advise.

A couple of questions about the GAU-8
Belphe replied to Frogfoot1606687865's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
What's the point in having a two-staged trigger if you can flip between a "POI stabilized" and "unstabilized" burst with one switch? -
I'm doing it now but as it's a BETA some unfinished details (starting the engines using key commands) are different. Thanks Coolhnd1!

Hello, I thought I knew a thing or two about the A-10 but in the face of ED/FC realism that marks their products I simply don't know anymore... 1. When I set up and start a new mission from the ramp I have my nosewheel light on... 2. The same situation, ramp start again - I cannot move neither my stick (only sideways) and my throttle is "locked" in idle position... Are these bugs or my lack of knowledge?

Hi, I would like to prepare my PC for the upcoming DCS Warthog. My Graphics Card seems to be powerful enough. I also have sufficient amount of RAM memory at decent speed. The problem is my CPU. I would like to get rid of my current AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ and change it along with the Mainboard. There is a wide variety of CPUs available in the price region I am willing to spend, both from AMD and Intel. I am not good at hardware stuff though and would appreciate your assistance in choosing the right "tools for the job". Should I go for more cores but lower speed (GHz) or is it the GHz that matter most and the number of cores is not as much important. Please, bare in mind I will be using the PC mainly to play Warthog and even though we still don't know the EXACT requirements people that know about hardware and have experience in building rigs for previous Eagle Dynamics/Fighter Collection products may know the answer. In case it's important, my other specs are: - Windows 7 64 Home Premium - Sapphire Radeon HD4850 2Gb - ~2Gb RAM @ 800 MHz - Saitek X52 + Saitek Pedals - TrackIR 4Pro As long it's not problematic (GPU vs CPU) I can switch from AMD CPUs to Intel CPUs. These are the CPUs I might be choosing from: - AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition AM3 Processor http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=CPA-AP21090T - Intel i5 670 3.46GHz LGA1156 Processor http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=CPI-I5670 - Intel i7 870 2.93Ghz LGA1156 Processor http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=CPI-I7870 - Intel i7 950 3.06GHz LGA1366 Processor http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=CPI-I7950 I'd be grateful for your assiastance. Thank you!
