Hi, I would like to know more about the combat helicopter tactics on the modern battlefield; how manoeuvres are performed, how they attack and what are the techniques of e.g. taking off, landing, disengaging or evasion etc. I have some basic knowledge on this but I would like to know more, especially because the Russian methods are different from the Western ones. Someone once said that the Americans build their helos like dragonflies, the Russians build them like tanks... Any idea if there are any interesting articles or manuals on this topic I could acquire from the net? Something similar to the pdf's of the good old Open Falcon? Please, don't send me "googleing". I know I can try to look for them myself. It's just perhaps some of you know them already and since our hobby is sort of "secluded", not many people and not many sites offer such information... Thanks!

My God, I have just realized I spent 100 hours learning to fly, only lost my "combat virginity" yesterday AND I STLL HAVENT EVEN TOUCHED LEARNING THE RADIO, DATALINK AND ABRIS.... I'M DOOMED ;)

I've just got to tell you this! :P I have spent about a 100 hours learning to fly the Shark and slowly but fairly acquiring skills on weapons deployment on stationary, friendly targets... Yesterday I tried something different... OMG! - the pace of action, the threat warnings, the shells flying meters away from the cockpit, the sound of explosions and ricochets bouncing off enemy armour... the destructive power of the Mi-24 and the burning wreckages of the destroyed vehicles... That is amazing!!! I mean it was just an Instant Mission but it blew my head off! Four choppers annihilated a convoy and it's defences within minutes! Total havoc! And we all lived to tell the tale... I know you guys have done it months ago and that the AI cannot be compared to a multiplayer game but I had the best 10 minutes in Black Shark so far! :thumbup: Going back this very afternoon... :pilotfly:

BTW, I don't intend to criticize the SimMod's A-10A (I fly it myself! :D) and I'm not an A-10 expert BUT isn't the nose a bit too flat just before the cockpit section when looking from the side? I think someone's mentioned it ages ago but I am not sure if it was regarding SimMod's A-10A...

Since you're using a verified controller setup it is most likely NOT the case... :huh: The "O" key uncages the Shkval but used together with the Helmet Mounted Sights and Automatic Turn To Target would point the nose of your Shark towards the direction you are looking...

Check if you don't have the "O" key mapped to something that keeps it pressed or pressess it all the time as it looks like the Helmet Mounted Sight (and turning your head) started the "dance"... :noexpression:

Hi, If I just want to modify one of the ALREADY EXISTING, DEFAULT skins and add a tiny little drawing to it, does the process involve modifying anything else than the .cdds file containing the texture? Thanks!

Hi, I'm looking for more skins for my BS but I can't find anything INTERESTING... I mean Mitch and all the other skinnesr have done a GREAT job but I am craving for more... ! :D Where are those really cool skins, e.g this one: ??? Sorry for using this as an example but this Shark looks awesome! ;P Any ideas if these skins are available for certain SQUADRON MEMBERS only??? Or prehaps anybody knows where I could find a paintscheme similar to this (one of the youtube videos): Thanks!

Have you guys tried exporting the 3d model out to 3d Studio Max and checking the progress there? I mean, yes - U need 3d SMax for that and yes - it's only to verify if things are well alligned but still... better than nothing... :/

Hi, 1. Is there a way to set my X52 Mode Selector (three-stepped rotary on the joystick with green, yellow and red lights) to actually work as a button? So far I have used it as a.... mode selector... :smilewink: 2. Is there a way to map the big rotary2 on the X52 throttle to govern the TV targetting box size? It is not present among the programable Axes in the config screen...:cry: Thanks!

Thanks All for answers! Athelophobia - that's strange because I use 1680x1050 as well and REALLY, touch wood (knocking in his forehead) I get 25-30 fps above cities with med-high settings (heat blur, traffic, water on med...) TBH, I don't know why! :) This game SHOULDN'T run that well on my rig but I am gratefull for it! ;)

I think DCS:BS is made of two separate "engines"... The menu is the first and it doesn't support 3D graphics and the game itself is the second and only there a render is possible. So, no way we will see textured 3D object in the menus unless they are heavily modified... :/
