So Huey and Ka-50 are retired...? PS. Tomcat is definitely retired and still we can't have an ultimate F-14 Sim because Iran has 2 and a half units operational... Geezzzzzzz :(

Is AH-64 (A/D/E ;P ) possible in DCS and why not? Hi, I apologise if a similar thread already exists but my search brought nothing of the sort of a thread I intended to start. If I did miss it, I am sorry. :) So... lately I've been flying the Huey (currently only flight is achievable - no such thing as landings for me yet...) and in the trill of excitement, browsing youtube for some Vietnam War videos showing Huey in action I watched a couple of clips with Mr.Apache. I surfed from one video to another only to realise that an hour has passed while I was reading and watching various materials about that helicopter. I knew it was a great piece of engineering but... Wow! WOW!! W-O-W!!! :D I would love to be able to fly that thing in DCS! The Series already accepts projects that require more than one person to operate so Pilot and Weapons Officer (?) would work, not to mention Coop Mode (Rise of Flight and it's bombers & strike aircraft prove it is achievable on a very high level of realism) where two players could create the crew. Majority of the systems, weapons, hell even the model are already in the sim so all the work would have to focus on flight characteristics and avionics. I know it's A LOT of work but it seems very "doable"... Now, tell me please why I am wrong... :? Thanks for reading!

I don't understand why symbols such as the swastika are "banned" in some countries. I mean, they are only a couple of lines put together.. Being Polish I know very well what WWII and the terror behind that symbol was but we should not forget the past, especially because we don't want similar things to happen again. Germany, Austria or any other country involved in WWII should not be "punished" and criticized forever. The war, no matter how terrible it was, is and always will be a part of our history and using the historically correct symbology in movies or games depicting it should not be seen as an attempt to glorify or bring back the horrible and fanatical regimes of the past. Not to mention the origin of the symbol (Ancient Rome)... PS. Sorry for a slight off-topic... The Dora for DCS is something I'm waiting for as much as you do.

Dora and Gustav? Together again?! OMG, I would quit my job...

Sure. One sunny day, with no apparent reason, the button stopped registering. No matter how I was pressing it I could not get any effect. Something worth mentioning is the fact that shortly before it broke down it was taking more pressure to get it pressed. Also, when broken you could not hear or feel the "click" at all. Hope this helps.

I was not charged for the part nor for shipping it to me in UK. Their previous offer (I didn't go for it) was me sending the whole throttle to them and then having the costs returned but only up to £35... This means no insurance or couriering would be involved as the price then would probably exceed 35 GBP.
-
Hi, Just letting you know that I got the parts from France and managed to fix the throttle button myself. Thank you all for your help! Preparing for take-off... ;P
-
OK, I got them convinced to send me the part. Now, how the hell do you take the old one out??? (I got to it inside but there are two clips holding the button on both sides and i cannot press them simultanously to get it out...) :/

Hi, I have been mailing Thrustmaster since Friday and they seem to be quite OK with helping me, however..... I was told that my faulty button cannot be fixed by me and that I need to send the whole throttle (without the joystick) to their "local" technical support site which is in......... France! I live in the UK and I cannot believe this is the closest site! Has anybody had a similar issue? We all know that HOTAS Throttle is not feather-light and the size of a thumble... Nobody mentioned it so I guess they expect me to cover the shipping expneses... What about insuring the parcel? It's quite a fragile package... I don't know what I should do. What do you thin about this?

Thanks - I e-mailed them and am awaiting response.

Hi, Yesterday, my Left Throttle Button (responsible for Autopilot on/off) stopped working. I noticed that there is not "click" sound when I press it so it's definitely the button only (not wires or anything else). I am devastated... It cost me so much, it's freaking made of metal, I took soooo much care operating this fancy toy and yet... it broke down... The Windows Input Controller Preference page (or whatever it's called) shows button 15 in red meaning it is "pressed" all the time. I opened this part of the throttle and took the button out but I cannot get to the inside of the button (if that makes sense) at all as it's firmly closed shut with snaping plastic locks (sorry, I cannot describe it better). I tried pressing both of the "thingies" at the same time to open the small button "barrel" but they don't react to any force... I don't want to damage them. I bought it off Amazon and it would probably be a real pain to retun it. I feel I'd be able to fix it if only I could open that button... Has anybody done it? Please, help!

See, I think CH is too narrow and thus the input is not optimal.

As I said, they all work well but has anyone of you actually tried the other pedals from my list? How can you vote not knowing the "other side of the story"? With all do respect, DCS doesn't require such rudder precision but try your luck in Rise Of Flight and you'll understand what I mean.
-
Gentlemen, All of the available rudder pedals available on the market "work great" - they make the aircraft yaw... The question is: which ones do it best? Now, since precision is the fundamental aspect here I suspect resolutions would be the most important factors to compare; and so: Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals: 1024 (512 each way) Simpeds: unable to find information (I'm at work) VKB: 4096 (2048 each way) --> 4x more precise than Saitek... Knowing this, should the VKB be declared a winner?
-
Let's just pretend for a moment that money is not an issue... Which rudder pedals would you recommend: SIMPEDS or VKB? http://www.dhs-electronic.de/index2.php?id=216&lng=en http://www.vkb-flightsimcontrols.com/produkt/gallery.php?PHPSESSID=5c741cbdae78924a628c734a61818823 (unfortunately, only in Russian) Bare in mind these would not only serve as an exclusive DCS hardware. I'd like to use them in other simulations too. Thanks!

Hi, As soon as I laid my hands on the HOTAS Warthog I knew I needed a new desk... So far, I kept my joystick and throttle in front of me, each to one side. Now, to immerse into the sim even more and to use the whole potential of the new hardware I decided to build a desk that would suit me needs. The aim is to both make it feel more like a cockpit layout (stick in the middle and throttle on the left side) AND to keep the normal desktop usability (good access to keyboard and mouse). I tried to find something to suit my requirements on the internet but all I get is expensive, pre-made designs or projects far more advanced than mine, with multi monitor layout and extra cockpit elements. Finally I decided to design my own desk. The absolute first draft looks like this: M - Monitor K - keyboard Ma - Mouse J - Joystick T - Throttle I'm sure some of you have come across a similar problem. What were your ideas? How do your desks look like? Could you give me any hints? Your help would be much appreciated! Regards!

Thanks for the clues guys! Where does Navigation (CDU) go in this schedule? More to the top, middle or bottom of the list?

Hi, I'd like to come back to The Hog after a loooong break (not that I ever mastered this sim) with a newly acquired HOTAS Warthog. I have printed "The 670-Page Bible" of a manual as some call it and I'm ready to start again. The problem is I've never approached the "Hog Course" from the right angle. I want to do this right this time. Therefore, could you suggest the proper sequence in which I should learn things? Thanks!
-
Exactly! I fly Rise Of Flight where I have my radiator and fuel mixture assigned to those two rotaries on the throttle. God, how many times have I damaged my engine or boiled the water in my radiator because the settings were changed by my "self-propelled, full-auto, moving" rotaries when I wasn't looking... :D

Thank you all for help!
-
Mine has this instead: CameraViewAngleLimits[A_10C] = CameraViewAngleLimits[A_10A] Does it mean I should make the changes under A-10A??

That's why I wanted to keep the max down position as the normal zoom and max up as max zoom in (get rid of the max zoom out while the slider is down). Keeping the slider on either extreemes (edges) would not cause flickers... I think... :/ But since I cannot make it to work like that I'll try the scroll wheel... Thank you!
-
Hmm, but that's where I do my tweaking... in the GUI. Is there any other way to change it? In simple words, I just need to get the half of the "VIRTUAL" movement (from a normal/default cockpit view to a max zoom in) and "stretch" it onto the whole "PHYSICAL" movement of my X52 slider. I can do the opposite (from a max zoom out to a normal/default cockpit view) or inverted (from a max zoom in to a normal/default cockpit view)... The latter is what I want but the slider is inverted and it's very uncomfortable. Please, have a go with this and see if you can do it.
-
Thank you, Sir! I thought that having the "up to date" software ment the newest one. Since it is onle a beta it is not considered as such. It worked after I installed it. Thank you once again!

I am having problems with setting up the zoom slider on my X52. I'd like it to be set accordingly: 0% physical slide = normal cockpit view (not zoomed, which is roughly @50%) / 100% physical slide = 100% zoom in (max. I can get) The problem with my trials is that I can only get 2 outcomes: 1) I get what I want but inverted: 0% physical slide = 100% zoom in (max. I can get) / 100% physical slide = normal cockpit view (not zoomed, which is roughly @50%) or if I "tick" invert 2) 0% physical slide = -100% zoom (100% zoom out) / 100% physical slide = normal cockpit view (not zoomed, which is roughly @50%) I tried this with "slider" ticked. Any chance to make it to work? PS. I'm very sorry. I should have put this under Input & Output... Please, move this thread there. I appologize!
