Russian cockpit images used in English printed manual
einar-st replied to MadTommy's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
QFT... That is so friggin true. I felt a bit agitated almost reading through some of the comments. I'm completely at awe at how someone decides to buy/not buy the manual because of some pictures. And especially since the majority (I would guess) plays with the russian cockpit becuase of authenticity. For christs sake finding the buttons isn't exactly rocket science, even with the cyrillic alphabet. I used the english cockpit to get to know the aircraft, and later switched to russian, but I never had any problems matching whatever was spoken about in the manual to the english cockpit. It's not a big deal. -
hahaha.. I know, right! I tend to accidently press a sequence of buttons which somehow accidently will launch some 30mm cannon rounds in their general direction. No, but seriously... civilian boats/ships and also civilian vehicles on land makes for fun target practice and that's just the truth.

hahahahahaha... :D... the way the rudder works feels and has always seemed very natural to me... (and yes I drive a car, too)

I'm sorry, but you're wrong. The Apache will be the pinnacle. :smartass:

As far as I know, this is not possible. I do however hope that someone comes along and proves me wrong, because it would make everything a whoooole lot easier.

You probably have heading hold turned on. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=36246

One without FLIR and operational night-capabilities. :smartass:

That fight was so hyped I had goosebumps the whole 3:14 it lasted.. hehe. Fedor is great. Looked like he was a little startled at Arlovski's boxing-speed in the beginning. Only wish it lasted longer.

How I Think the Controls Should Work
einar-st replied to ericinexile's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
To be honest I don't find the autopilot is fighting me at all. I think it works fine just the way it is. And can you point me to the threads with ED reps saying that's how the real KA-50 behaves. Because that's not how I understand it. -
Landing the Ka-50 on the Neutrashimy
einar-st replied to mkrochmaln's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Here's my Neustrashimy landing. I feel it's a little easier landing accurately when slipping in from the side. -
Opening the emergency door to the right?

What's the point? -
Good tip with the washing machine!! :D... Haha

I believe the stick will want to re-center to the position you trimmed it to last. Other than that, I have no idea. It probably feels great :D

I've heard people say this before.. probably settings on the GPU? Attached is how the cockpit looks on my computer... wouldn't exactly call it unreadable, fuzzy mess.

begging for help - performance in multi screen
einar-st replied to ruprecht's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
A little off-topic but I have to say... that setup looks damn awesome. Fire extinguisher made me chuckle. Best of luck getting it all to work with satisfactory FPS and whatnot. -
Yea.. that's what I do and what seems pretty logical to me. I did however notice that Wags does not do this on his Start-Up producers note. I mean he calls it "enabling the batteries" but he's enabling the generators. The battery-switches remain untouched throughout the video (he starts on external power).
-
I just did some testing and the reason this happens during extreme manouvers is because the power generators will not generate sufficient power when the rotor is under heavy stress i.e. low RPM. It will however only happen when the batteries are off aswell. Seeing as how they are on when "starting from runway", I guess one should always be flying with them on?

Hehe... it's not really a 21st century chopper, though. The fact that it hovers with an upwards tilt is just the way it hovers. As far as I understand your not supposed to use rockets from a hover... attack-run and then break. Guns and missiles work fine from a hover with Shkval. Putting autohover on after trimming it for a "hover" with a speed of maximum 20kph (I try keeping it below 10kph) BEFORE pushing the autohover button has never given me the issues you're describing. Pitch and bank AP-channels can disable themselves if applying autohover when the INU is not initialized. The rest of your issues I can't say anything about because I have not experienced them.
-
If you're just firing a missile or two and do not plan on hanging around long trimmed "hover" with bank, pitch and heading channel holds enabled is just fine. Only problem is some minor drifting..
-
I think I know why I overshot... it seems to become more accurate the more I point the nose of the aircraft at the target.. I still can't notice any difference between the laser designator modes, though.
-
Just a quick question... you're not confused by the two, right?... If you play alot of jet-sims I can see how you might think the collective being the throttle and the other way around....
-
Anyone tried this missile? I love how it kinda throws the Black Shark a bit off balance after launch because of the weight. The few times I've tried it though it overshot each time. And it also seems to work without putting the laser designator mode on "ЛДП".. should it?
-
hahaha... I just tried it... awesome. I love finding out stuff like this. Thanks!

As mentioned this is probably because the INU is not ready. (I knew something was not ready, but before AlphaSix wrote that it was the INU, I did not know that was it) The way I know it's ready is the directional line that appears on the HUD at speeds below 50kph. If it's not there, I know I'm not able to autohover. Does anyone know of another way to see if it's up and running?
