  2. I personally don't see how CA would fit gunner stations. CA is Combined Arms. That is the cooperation between air and an other type of combat. Like ground troops. Gunners are not ground troops. They are air troops. I feel like that would just make CA an even more weird module then it already is. I always saw it like the FC3 of the ground. FC3 doesnt have ground troops included, so CA should not include air troops.
  3. I personally dont think this would be a good idea. With the door stations becoming free anyone who already has the huey module would still be able to use it. If you would lock it behind a paywall it would suddenly be locked for everyone that has the huey and not CA. I think the door stations would need to be free or just as they are now. CA (in my opinion) should keep it at ground units and not planes.
  4. I have spend some time arguing with some friends and there are some things id like to add: Community feeling scammed: Now, I do not know everyone in the community. Not even close. But I personally don't know anyone who has bought the huey just to be a gunner. Making the gunner positions free would most likely not anger many people. Seeing as the most features are in the front 2 seats (pilot and co pilot). Why do you buy a module? My guess is that most people buy it to fly it. So I personally dont think this would be a problem. If you are someone who has bought the huey just for the gunner stations please let me know and if you would dislike it if they would be made free. ED would miss out on money: As I said, I think most people buy a module to fly it. So I don't think this would be the case at first glance. I think it would do the opposite. People wouldn't have to spend a penny to fly gunner stations. And I think most people would like to fly the huey themselves at some point. So it might create an easier way into DCS. You will already have someone to play with that knows his way around DCS. So you would instantly have someone to teach you. Possible piracy: DCS already knows what modules you own and don't own. The gunner stations would "just" be a free part of the huey. Players that bought the huey would be able to switch however they want and players that didn't buy the huey would only be able to switch between gunner stations. DCS already has all the data that would be needed. So ED would "just" have to make a check between switching to and from pilot stations.
  5. I think ED should allow stations that do not require advanced system handling to be open to everyone. Why? Look at il2 (the sim). It is really popular with its bombers and larger planes. That sim also has multicrew. Every gunner station can be used by ANYONE. It is not locked behind a paywall (you do have to own the game). Why doesn't ED do something like this? I understand the co-pilot has to own the module. And if it was a more modern plane I can understand you would need to own the module if you want to use, lets say a radar or whatever. But stuff like gunner stations or other stations that just don't justify buying the module for that. So i think it would be a good move to allow players that don't own the huey to operate the gunner stations. Some examples with random planes: Chinook: Pilot: has to own module Co Pilot: has to own module Load master: doesnt have to own module any gunner station: doesnt have to own module F4: Pilot: has to own module Co Pilot: has to own module B17: Pilot: has to own module Co Pilot: has to own module any gunner station: doesnt have to own module
  6. I am glad you like my idea! I will keep improving it. I hope to have a semi fleshed out idea within a month or 2. A lot of work will still need to be done however before i am really confident in the idea though.
  7. I made a quick example of how it would look inside the ME. This could be the "banned weapons" tab. The image on the map is just a placeholder. I will try to make more examples for the countries and aircraft tabs. This idea is still really young and would need a lot more thinking before it would be ready to be implemented. There are still some problems that would need to be fixed like radio channels. Ill try and come up with solutions for those as time goes on. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

  9. Why? Sandbox This idea comes from a inconvenience I have had for quite a while now. I like to make a "sandbox" mission for every map. Just for me and my buddies. So what I would do is put 6 of every playable aircraft in the mission. You might already see the problem. There are almost no (if there are some) airfields that can accommodate for that many aircraft. If we make a quick calculation we know that there are roughly 40 playable aircraft (I don't have access to the game at the moment so I cant count in game). If we take that 40 number and multiply it by 6 we get a whopping 240 aircraft that need to be placed. No airfield in DCS can take that many airplanes. Multiplayer DCS is a simulator. So DCS is not about balance. Some servers however, want a fun PVP experience. This means that some sort of balance needs to exist. These days its done with scripts. But that could break and prolonged support is not something you can expect. There is also the problem of liveries. Lets say a server doesn't mind Turkish F-16s flying about next to the US F-16s. If this wants to be implemented right now the server owner needs to add sperate Turkish F-16 spawns. This means that players that want to fly US F-16s cannot use those spawns. My solution Briefly explained A new "universal spawn point" (USP from now on). This spawn can be edited in quite some detail. It would gain its own settings. There would also be 2 separate USPs. One for fixed wing and one for helicopters. You can also select aircraft types that can spawn on that point or a simple "ALL" button. Country selection Within this USP you can set what countries can use that spawn. You will also have broad options like "ALL COALLITION MEMBERS". This option allows all countries that belong to that side to use that spawn point. If you only want a few specific countries to use that spawn point you can select them individually. So now everyone can fly in their F16 with their nation's roundel on the side whilst still using the same airfield! Banned weapons Not every server wants all weapons to be used. (This screenshot was taken from a normal aircraft spawn and it would not be green) A new tab would be added where the mission maker could ban weapons. But not just flat-out ban them! They also could set a maximum amount. This would prevent stuff like a F-18 with 12 AIM-120s. But still allow them to carry them. If you want to go all the way you could even make it so you can set specific pylons. For players trying to rearm it could look something like this: This would indicate that the weapon is not allowed on the airframe. This is dynamic because if only 2 AIM-120s are allowed you can select them in the beginning, but when you have selected the maximum amount (or what you want to select would go over that amount) it would go red. In preparation of a possible logistics implementation: This picture could indicate the weapon is out of ammo. As you can see they are different enough so players wont confused them. If this image would better suit the role if displaying that its not allowed that's also good. Its just an early idea after all. !Keep in mind I am in no way a graphics designer! Quick bit about hit boxes I have experienced spawning inside another plane. I don't know if its been patched or not. But if its not, this is my idea. If the red box detects an aircraft that spawn will go to "inactive" and players will not be able to spawn there. If the yellow box detects an aircraft the player will be given a warning before spawning. The yellow box is there to inform the player if leaving the parking spot might be difficult. These boxes would be the size of the larges aircraft that can spawn there plus a bit. The yellow one would mainly extend more to the front. Helicopters would have a slightly different hotbox. Their hotbox would go up higher. And the normal spawns? These would not effect normal spawns. This is mainly meant for multiplayer servers and sandbox missions. I don't think my idea is perfect. I do however think its a good place to start. I would like to make a helicopter base with only 10 spawns instead of (amount of helicopters * amount of players). TL;DR one spawn point that can spawn selected countries and aircraft types to make mission design easier. Can also limit weapons choice so PVP servers can balance without using scripts.
  10. If possible at all i think it would be nice the have them both as free modules. It will still allow new players to get a taste if SEAD with the 25t and give people access to the oh so iconic a10. I know this is a long shot, but i still want to put it out there. EDIT: spelling error
  11. Wouldnt CA players think this is screwing them over? I do think this is a good idea, but we should take CA owners into account. It is similar after all, even if it's more realistic.

  14. Hello, I am trying to get something to work in the ME. I have this code in a Switch waypoint command Condition (LUA PREDICATE) It doesnt give an error but doesnt do anything else
  15. We started a mission 2 times, rearmed with a TGP but it did not show up for the RIO. It only did not show up on the external model, the RIO could still control the TGP normally.
  16. Change is site behaviour for modules Hello, I think it would be a welcome addition to the site if the person looking through modules would not see the ones he already owns. The site would need an extra page for all the modules (a page where all the modules would be listed including price and all). This would make it easier to look at modules that you might want to buy.

  19. F16 Dutch skins? I would love to see some Dutch F16 skins. As far as I know, there aren't a lot of Dutch skins in DCS. Id love to see this skin in DCS! And of course a normal service skin!

    Custom skins

    Hello, Me and a friend of mine would like to create a custom server for the 2 of us. We would also like custom skins on that server, we, however, do not know how to do this in the slightest. Also, if someone knows how to set up a server, please let me know :D. Greetings, Tom
