Possible to change the premade ground crew loadouts?
corvinus replied to DarkStar79's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
I think the OP is talking about the roadbase ground crew and not the regular airbase crew. For the roadbase crew you rearm through the kneeboard, which offers a different selection of loadouts than the airbase rearm menu does. -
** UPDATE: Ground Radar 2.0 & Multiplayer Flight Planning **
corvinus replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Actually at shallow angles water reflects almost all waves in the forward direction. There is some backscatter which is not very pronounced compared to hills etc. For radio waves to be absorbed you have to transmit at very steep angles, which typically do not happen in a low flying Viggen. The conclusion does not change though. -
Thanks for the video, great to see another Viggen tutorial!

Dealing with the Data Cartridge over multiple strikes
corvinus replied to Schmidtfire's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Iirc you have to switch to BER and then to NAV, also remember to select LS. That should give you proper take off HUD indications. Can't help you with the cartridges I'm afraid. -
*** FEATURE PREVIEW: MOBILE GROUND CREW ***
corvinus replied to RagnarDa's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
I've posted a host of quick training missions here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=222539 Missions M09 - M11 from the "Take-off and Landing" folder are roadbases with a crew waiting for you. These worked for me, last time I checked. Usually I run from the mission editor, although that should not matter. -
My thoughts exactly.

It's been a while, but for the F-15C there is only one option right? I thought it was the KC-135. For the F-18C I've had some luck with the KC-130, but the Viking was more troublesome. The Harrier, I did not even try ...

If the ship has a track radar on you (or a jammer) you will receive radiation pretty much continuously. If the frequency band of the ship's radar (jammer) matches the frequency band of the radar of the Viggen then there will be some interference. There is not much you can do about it. It is like something is pointing a flashlight at your eyes: you will be bothered. The passive mode of the Viggen's radar does not turn on something, instead it turns something off (the transmitter).

How to evade missiles without countermeasures pod?
corvinus replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
To be fair, the question was how to evade a missile. Of course, preventing a launch is better ;). -
I understand it not being realistic, but ... it took me/ many hours to get a single drop of fuel in the F-15C. I am not able to put the hours into sim that are required for getting proficient in AAR (also I don't have VR and only a half decent stick). While I am probably going to spend sometime practicing AAR in the Hornet, I will certainly not do this for every plane I own. Having a an optional (!) easy cheat mode for AAR would help me a lot.

Thanks for the info!

You are talking about the inertia BK90, i.e. the fact that a heavy object require more force to push it off course. So basically you are saying that due to the heavy weight and small control surfaces the BK90 is not capable to make the necessary adjustments to compensate for the wind? Sounds plausible to me ... The discussion before was whether or not a BK90 had an INS (inertial navigation system, which is basically a gyro and has nothing to do with the mass of the BK90) or not. It should have one, and it should be able to tell the BK90 it is off course. Whether or not it is able to reach the destination depends entirely on the specific parameters of the wind and BK90 (and how these are modeled in DCS).

I'm just guessing here, since I do not have access to the SDK, but I would not be surprised if the SDK provides CCIP bombing including HUD symbology. If the SDK CCIP bombing is implemented with a solid line with no API to change the line style then ... well then you are out of luck as a 3rd party developer.

This is correct, as long as the receiver is on you will see interference from other radars. Since the receiver is on in both active as well as passive mode, you will never get rid off the interference from the other radars.

** UPDATE: Ground Radar 2.0 & Multiplayer Flight Planning **
corvinus replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
The new radar looks amazing! I can even see the electricity masts! Great work! While I can confirm an FPS penalty in the 120 km mode, performance is fine for the other ranges. Since the radar is now showing ground targets and features so clearly, would it be possible to have another look at RR-Radar Release bombing? The 3 km mark is not placed correctly on the radar scope, see: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3592944&postcount=24 -
 Can you explain this?

Chaff works for me if you use program 1 (fast). I do think I have tried that against sa10, atleast against sa11 and sa15. Concerning the flares, does it help to press the fast dispense button as fast as you can? -
[FIXED] TERNAV not functioning properly in 2.5.3.24436
corvinus replied to whartsell's topic in Bugs and Problems
TERNAV is on by default. It does not get beyond mode 2 (rough search) or 3 (fine search). In NAV mode it should go to mode 5 (position determined and sending fixes), but that never happened. You can turn off TERNAV now (TAKT/IN 581). However turning off the radar altimeter does not cause TERNAV you jump to mode 0 (inoperable), which is what I would have expected. -

corvinus replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Afterburner might not be a good idea if you are dodging an IR missile as it increases the signature significantly. -
Maybe I'm taking you too literally, but there is no point in checking everyday. Only every other Wednessday. That way your disappointment increases at a slower pace ;) More seriously, it seems they are holding off pushing features to stable, because beta still contains some bugs. This is a major improvement compared to what they did earlier: push to bugs to stable. So it is sort of a good thing. But I can imagine people getting impatient.

Can't wait to try this out, it looks incredible! What is the impact on performance, should I start saving for a new CPU? ;) -
[FIXED] How do you get unlimited ammo to work ?

Strange, I use thus all the time. Do you enforce the option in the mission? -
** AJS-37 Viggen Update! New Afterburners & Features! **
corvinus replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Nope, but I've seen plenty bug fixes and improvements lately. I'm happy with the progress, not saying that you or anybody else should be though. Just my opinion on the current state of affairs. And it is much appreciated! -

Well, in that case we have the same amount of updates, but not the same conclusion ;)
