  1. for one thing. VR is a lot cheaper
  2. The 50% question! i’m sure they achieved 50% or even 100% improvement in their test scenarios with their test hardware. but how that translates to a mom and pop game room with all varieties of OS installs, patches and shoddy drivers is anyone’s guess.
  3. they say improvements are coming. but until then, we have to use what we have.
  4. if Oculus is installed and configured to run, DCS will try to run it. what do you use the Oculus software for with the Reverb?
  5. your test is CPU limited, right? doesn’t Vulkan offload the GPU and push the most of the “work” to the CPU? how will giving the CPU even more things to do, speed things up?
  6. VR Friendly DCS 30 years is a long time to figure it out. you’d think it would be a solved problem by now. yet none of the sims do it. maybe they need some help? or maybe they are just being stubborn.
  7. Thanks to the devs, 2.5.5 is apparently much more smooth maybe they added more polygons, more textures, or more sharpening.
  8. HP's Reverb VR Pro Headset what is this comparison based on? number of processing cores?
  9. Are there any plans to allow DCS to use multiple cores? Vulkan is always the answer. Vulkan forever.
  10. where’s the deadlock ? thread and module please.
  11. Are there any plans to allow DCS to use multiple cores? oh, i totally agree. but it’s also difficult for sims on new engines to leverage multi-cores. do any of the new sims created in the last 10 years take advantage of and use multiple cores well?
  12. your happiness depends on your expectations. most of us enjoyed the v1 headsets and never looked back. so the v2’s are just a bonus
  13. i get what you’re saying, but that doesn’t explain why consumer multi core cpus have been around for 10+ years and almost no (none?) sims break down the workloads like you and others have suggested. there must be more to it than that
  14. Custom built router are the overhead and header bits included in the 300Mbps ISP account limit, or is that actually 300Mbps of pure data?
  15. hmm, something is still not right. if 1 byte is 8 bits, and you need the occasional overhead bits, i still don’t see how you can get 42MB/s down a 300Mbps link, regardless of the size of a K unit.
  16. Are there any plans to allow DCS to use multiple cores? thanks for the post. maybe i misunderstood the win docs, but they indicate that thread execution time was the length of time the thread ran, regardless of which cpu core it was on. if true, then threads with significant execution times, would be an indicator of how much processing that thread is contributing to the simulation (no matter the core).
  17. but with the 1024 calculations you mentioned, isn’t the 42MB/s downloads significantly more than theoretically possible maximum? according to the earlier posts, we should get less than, not more than
  18. Custom built router a friend has a 300Mbps connection to his ISP, but he often sees 42MB/s downloads via Steam (stats shown in the steam client). how does that work? is that the 1024/1000 conversion ?
  19. Are there any plans to allow DCS to use multiple cores? ok. they may they have consolidated some of the work recently. the last time i checked the thread execution times (a few patches ago), there was more than 2 threads doing all the work.
  20. Valve Index Hands On i prefer to see what i’m looking at, before i worry about what’s around me.
  21. this thread is hilarious. VR fix is in! VR fix is not in! Maybe they snuck it in? They did not sneak it in. It is faster! It is not faster!
  22. they already use 3 or 4, but there is nothing preventing them from using more. the trick is finding tasks that can be offloaded without adding latency and locking. it’s not easy and most sims don’t do it, either.
  23. and some of us learned this the hard way... purchased on specs and a bit ticked off afterwards. lol.
  24. cool. nice project. i did something like this a few years ago and it worked great. these days i’m lazy and just use a retail unit.
  25. dang! you guys had a party! i can’t believe i missed all this excitement yesterday.
