  1. New Vid Card Inbound most users don’t even have VL. if it’s required they will lose a lot of sales
  2. Sweviver does a XTAL video - this is a whole new level it may not be what some of us hoped, but i suspect the new Rift will sell very well and be a “successful” product for them.
  3. GPU or CPU? a GPU won’t have enough work to do if the CPU can’t feed it quickly enough. so it’s critical that you have a fast Ghz CPU. that usually means Intel
  4. that’s unfortunate. it isn’t supposed to work that way. perhaps the bug wasn’t found by members using the beta? or for whatever reason, it wasn’t considered widespread enough to fix before release? i don’t like either scenario, but there isn’t much we can do now, other than file a support request.
  5. releases are labeled “beta” for a reason....
  6. what does the silence mean? that’s it’s better than what the leaks say?
  7. on the bright side, in six months all this drama will be behind us and we can get back to flying.
  8. if the seller has a good reputation and they say it works and is in good condition, then, it works and is in good condition. i have purchased quite a few components on ebay and they have been exactly as described every single time. if you get a dud, just file a paypal dispute and you’ll get your money back.
  9. the only way to know is for someone to pony up and try it. ... and don’t forget to post your results.
  10. i wouldn’t disable the windows swap file. that could cause more problems. have you disabled anti-virus completely? you will still be “safe” while you run a test loading dcs and then we will know if anti-virus has anything to do with the problem.
  11. i can’t wait. it will be fun to read this thread in six months and see how close or far our arm chairing turned out to be.
  12. Another One Bites The Dust. RTX2080TI this last nvidia hardware release was a bit of a debacle from day one. features no one can use. for prices most can’t afford, with worse than industry average quality. it’s no wonder their stock price tanked. sorry to hear about your bad luck.
  13. Advice needed: i9-9900K+z390 vs i7-8086K+z370 the way games are designed, a 9600 or 9700 @ 5.1Ghz would provide similar performance. but the 9900 is a great chip and will really come into its own in a couple of years when more software starts to make use of extra processing capabilities.
  14. My experience with RTX 2080 on DCS you do, but the perf benefit is very small. negligible. that’s why they never require or recommend large amounts of it.
  15. are you waiting to purchase hardware for it?
  16. let’s be honest. the amount of money you spent on DCS didn’t even pay for a single developer for a weeks work. let them work on something to pay the bills and keep the lights on. just like you do in your business.
  17. most games don’t do anything special with extra vram, they just don’t compress the textures as much if there is extra room. it looks like dcs does the same.
  18. “connector” decisions are usually made near the end of the engineering proposal cycle. it’s rare that they decide on a connector first, then decide what they can build using it.
  19. Planning a new "Gamer" build - requesting feedback you’re forgetting your business training and case studies. namely “support costs” and the expenses associated with it. as you know, the quicker you can cut costs, the quicker you can bump the roi
  20. don’t worry. with enough money, 180 fps is just around the corner
  21. Pimax 5K+ and Odessa + Terrain Ghosting Issues it might be too high for some systems, but many buy pimax “because” of the high resolution and the dream of being able to see details they remember from the old fashioned lcd monitor
  22. keep in mind threads only run when they are on a core... so even 1000 threads will only run 6 at a time on the 8700k
  23. if you wait until next year there will be other options too.
  24. HP's Reverb VR Pro Headset not everything HP produces is designed by the same 4 people. and some managers use different calculations for target market and product viability. and almost everything in engineering is a compromise. simply put, it’s more likely they can sell more units with a lower price and no IPD adjustment.
  25. maybe it’s like a special easter egg or skill level thing. only a few special or level 7 players get to use it?
