  1. does a couple of blasts of compressed air work? that’s all i’ve ever done.
  2. a faster cpu (not more cores) will help. the graph you are seeing is an average of all 8 cores and does not reflect the cpu bottleneck
  3. i agree. it’s amazing how much bad information users can find on the internet. there should be a law against providing bad advice. :)
  4. in dcs there are around 12 threads doing work, 3 of them doing the most of it. you’ll want at least a 4 core cpu. the faster the Mhz, the better. i went with an i5 at 5.1Ghz
  5. +1 i’ve purchased a number of used cards, some with warranty, some without, some of them were even bitcoin miners... and never had a problem. working electronics don’t fail very often
  6. i get that people were exited but other than disappointment, nobody was put out, nobody lost money, nobody got hurt. i applaud their focus and effort on improving the vr experience.
  7. How many fighters on a link16 network 2^(16-1) - 2 test users?
  8. i’m quite sure it has not been abandoned. performance is an ongoing priority for every sim. you can never get enough and it can never be too fast.
  9. process lasso often causes more problems than it fixes. let the operating system manage your computer resources... that’s the whole point. thats what it does.
  10. and Vulkan will be our savior. 32 cores like it was 2!
  11. hmm. i would have thought an enemy plane would be scaled in size, just like every other object in the 3d space, and not depend on how many pixels you have
  12. it’s just like the moon landing, we will never know for sure.
  13. not telling everyone first, is actually one of the BEST to get good unbiased data. the placebo effect is strong in these forums.
  14. I think I'm decided. any “sims”?
  15. Oculus Rift S With DCS World Discussion depending on settings, you can bring any GPU to its knees... in any game. which implies, no game is ever cpu bound. you could run any slow bargain basement cpu and the 2080ti GPU will still be the “problem” lol.
  16. a brand new unit version after 3 years of development is considered a 1/2 generation? that makes no sense at all.
  17. i think you mean Gen 3. these headsets are the Gen 2’s. Gen 1’s were 3 years ago.
  18. how is the performance? no i/o contention with that many drives and pci controllers?
  19. ^ this it’s difficult to argue with facts.
  20. SSD for game folder? and they often go on sale. 1TB for $99-$119 is common. i put my whole c:\ drive (including dcs) on there and have lots and lots of room left over
  21. I think I'm decided. we’ve had 4 core cpu’s for a decade... and nothing has happened yet. but maybe next year they will be supported? fingers crossed.
  22. nice. thanks for posting those.
  23. Which VR Headset Did You Own Or Are You Buying This Year? gen 1 was 2016. now after 3 years we are at gen 1.5. when is gen 2 expected, in 2022 ?
  24. where’s the fun if it “just works”? that would be boring and unsatisfying.
  25. so you rolled the dice and lost, and now you’re upset? you had days and days and days and days to pull the trigger....
