  1. Oh, I wasn't aware of that part. Sounds fantastic.
  2. I love you. Say, would it be possible to have rotor tip lights viewable from the cockpit? That's always kinda bugged me.
  3. Great video, but I don't think (hardly) any of that was actually in game. I wish we had effects like that in DCS. Those explosions were AMAZING! It makes things feel much more exciting to have visual effects like that.
  4. Wait, now I'm confused. I was under the impression that Digital Combat Simulator is going to be a collection of flight "modules," and that these will build upon each other to create a more expansive simulator. In other words, as the various aircraft are released, they are added to the overall package and users can fly whichever plane or heli they want in a multiplayer game, the same as in LOMAC. Is this true?
  5. Well, bugs can be worked out over time, whereas perfomance issues (the real problem with all these suggestions) can only be solved by dropping cash on your system and even then current technology can only be stretched so far. It's entirely possible, but not feasible for 75% of the game audience, I would think. The soldiers are static, yes... But you're forgetting to give credit for including infantry at all! Falcon is the only other sim I can think of that implemented actual human units, and they were more static than DCS's; not to mention flat and god awful ugly. I think the level of detail put into the modeling in this sim is nothing short of amazing.
  6. Thanks, looks great; keep churnin 'em out!
  7. You might already know this, but you can set any application to switch to the Basic desktop settingswhen it runs, and it will automatically restore Aero at close. Right click the exe/shortcut >Properties>Compatibility>Disable Desktop Composition/Disable Visual themes.
  8. Oh sorry, didn't see the static texture bit in the original post. So I guess that means it'll look that way even when it's not raining?
  9. Do the windshield wipers work with this as well?
  10. Yeesh! I'm all for realistic simulation, but I gotta admit: I fear a remodelling of SAM systems. I'm having enough trouble already! :surrender:
  11. No that's not right, at least not for me, anyhow. The virtual screen is created to the left of my video output, therefore I don't need to move anything around. I tried your code anyway and it put the shkval on my main monitor and nothing on the left monitor, and crashed. :( It is aligning properly, it's just causing the game to crash. Very frustrating indeed.
  12. Yes, I'm aware of that. I tried both. :\ Anyway, I'm downloading the Windows 7 beta. Maybe that will magically fix this as well as give me a fps boost! *rubs buddha belly*
  13. Ok, I realize this thread's old and no one's really reading it anymore, but I guess I'll give it a shot anyway... So, I finally get this thing working by simplifying it down to the bare minimum: Description = 'Shkval on the left monitor, camera on the right' Viewports = { Center = { x =0; y = 0; width = 1280; height = 1024; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = screen.aspect / 2; } } Shkval = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 1280; height = 1024; } ["multiMonitorSetup"] = "2montest", ["height"] = 1024, ["resolution"] = "3840x1024", ["civTraffic"] = 1, ["width"] = 3840, }, -- end of ["graphics"] } -- end of options The screens appear to be oriented correctly when I run the game, however this happens as soon as I unpause: Vista 32bit, AMD X2 6000+, 8800GT, 4 gb ram I've tried closing all nonessential processes, running as administrator and everything else I can think of and still this happens. Now, I realize the average forum browser will (probably) not be able to help with this crash at all, but I'm hoping ED will see this. Here's hoping, but for now... :crash:
  14. Nope, that's correct. You would think they would have mentioned that somewhere, ey?
  15. Does PPJoy not? I was sure I saw it in there...
  16. Yes, I use it....? No 'tips' for you, though. Just set things up to your liking and play, it's pretty straightforward.
  17. Not even then, actually.
  18. Well, after about four hours of obsession with lua's, it doesn't even SHOW a shkval or abris, it just stretches my main camera and of course crashes the game upon loading. I hate to say it, but this is the kind of shit that made me give up on lomac.
  19. It does all sorts of things, but it's primarily used as an input emulator: it allows you to trick your computer into thinking whatever device you're using is a joystick so you can use almost anything to control your game. However, I think he's using it here to run an advanced input script to automate the trimming system. It's a pretty clever workaround, really.
  20. PPJoy should provide what you need quite nicely, I think.
  21. Yea, that's why I'm not using the stick. I like to keep the general layout of controls similar to the real thing, and there's really no advantage in using it instead of a hat. So, I'm sticking with the 'cyclic' hat switch for my slewing needs. ;)
  22. I completely forgot about Alchemy! It sounds so much better now! I don't even have to do the external view/open cockpit/pause unpause tricks anymore! YAY! :D
  23. YES. Yes YES YES!!! I'm so excited for the A-10, I wish I could be cryogenically preserved until it is released. It is open source as far as you can modify almost any part of it however you see fit, but I don't think third party developers can charge money for their creations. And thank god for that, imo.
  24. It seems to automatically set the trim after you hold the stick in place for a few milliseconds. Not sure on the raw mechanics of it, but that's the general jist of it. Personally, I don't really care for it. It's a handy tool I suppose, but I've gotten pretty proficient at trimming the Shark even without FFB and I guess opening and running yet ANOTHER app before I play just doesn't seem worth the trouble to me; nor do I like the idea of using a system that the heli doesn't actually have in reality. However, I love to see these kinds of user made solutions/tweaks being done within the community. I'm sure this will be invaluable to alot of people, and I applaud your efforts.
  25. No, I didn't care to read the whole thread; only the OP's post and a few other similar comments. And I certainly didn't mean to sound like a "smarty pants," I was just confused because the solution seems obvious to me. I was unaware of your xp assignment woes, but as H-steet pointed out, there are plenty of third party programs to map keys to buttons. Problem solved, fly on.
