  1. Here's another video: It appears that if there's even one rocket remaining in one of the pods on a hardpoint the emergency jettison and selective jettison via Jester works OK. Any hardpoints carrying a pod(s) that are completely empty can't be jettisoned with emergency jett or Jester selective jett. You have to jump into the back seat to do it yourself as demonstrated in the first post of this thread.
  2. I noticed recently that I am unable to jettison empty Zuni pods. Jettisoning full Zuni pods works fine both with the emergency jettison button and selective jettison via Jester. However if the pods are empty both the emergency jettison button and selective jettison via Jester fail to drop the pods. If you jump into the back seat you can jettison the pods yourself if you toggle the MER TER / WPNS switch. You can also see that Jester tried to use the SEL JETT switch as it's stuck in the up/JETT position. Affects both the A and B. Video attached: PS. Anyone happen to know how to fix a USB "Device Descriptor Request Failed" error in the Device Manager? I've tried every fix I can find online and my USBs keep connecting/re-connecting! It's driving me crazy.
  3. It looks more than slightly increased to me. That might bug me even more than the stock reverse angle. Are there any videos available to show the left and right throttles being moved past each other?
  4. It's a tough thing to model properly. The human brain is pretty amazing. We do some complex things without even realizing we're doing them. For example when I'm RIOing for someone and I see a bandit closing from our 10 o'clock and I can tell by its motion that it will pass by our 9 and to our 8 quickly, I can anticipate my verbiage without even giving it much thought. I know that by the time I finish my sentence and by the time my driver processes my call out the bandit will be passing by our 9. So instead of calling "bandit 10 o clock" I call "bandit 9 o clock" so that my driver has time to look to our 9 in time for the bandit to be there. My goal is to have my driver looking in that spot before the bandit even gets there so it passes right in front of his face. Its something most of us don't think about, it just comes naturally, but its gotta be difficult to program into a videogame AI. Unfortunately Jester seems limited to calling out exactly what he sees, and there's probably a lag between what he sees and queuing the audio file, and then another delay for Jester to complete his sentence, and another delay for you to process what he just told you, and another to turn your head. By then the bandit might be on the opposite side of you. I try to think of Jester's calls as if they were coming from 2 or 3 seconds in the past.
  5. This thread. In before the lock?
  6. ■ABOUT US■ We are a North American based group operating primarily in the evening hours between the PST and EST timezones, but we accept applicants from all over the world as long as they can adapt to our schedule. We try to operate as close to real world standards and tactics as we can without the burden of turning our DCS hobby into a full time job. [CASUAL]---------------|-----[MILSIM] ■SCHEDULE■ •MAIN MISSION NIGHT: Typically Friday or Saturday evenings •PUBLIC SERVER RAID: Saturday evenings if no other events are scheduled •DACT/BFM/ACM DROP-IN: Sunday evenings (bi-weekly) •A2G/CAS/RANGE DROP-IN: Sunday evenings (bi-weekly) •CASE-1,2,3 & LSO DROP-IN: Tuesday evenings (bi-weekly) •Impromptu flights and training happens sporadically in between the above events. ■FLY WHAT YOU WANT■ The 51st VFW doesn't have any policy that restricts members to a single airframe. All pilots can fly whatever they feel like depending on theirr mood, but we ask our members to specialize in one primary aircraft so that we can sort them into an appropriate sub-squadron for organizational purposes, and to spend the majority of your time in that primary airframe. ■SERVER■ Our server hosts detailed sandbox style missions for the Persian Gulf, Syria, NTTR and Marianas that feature MOOSE scripting for enhanced naval ops, integrated air defense networks with realistic SAM placements, scripted weapons ranges, civilian and military traffic, as well as persistent weather and save states, ATIS, and LOTATC integration for human controlled ATC, AWACS, and GCI. ■REQUIREMENTS■ •Fluent in English. •Over 18 years old. •Have some form of HOTAS. •Have some form of head tracking. •Latest version of DCS Open Beta. •Simple Radio / SRS. ■AIRFRAMES WE OPERATE■ F-14B AV-8B A-10C II AH-64D and/or other helos F-16C F/A-18C AJS37 LOTATC [F-15E Eventually] F/A-18C and F-16C slots are currently FULL/WAITLIST and A-10C II slots are getting close! 7. Sorry, I didn't mean to discourage you. I don't agree that AAR is equivalent to brain surgery. It's more equivalent to parallel parking. Hard at first but it's easy when you do it often. My tips: - Bomb mode wings. - Stay below the wake turbulence. If you do it right you'll never feel any turbulence. - I use a key binding for yaw trim to re-center the slip ball after I extend the probe. I trim for pitch too with maybe just a touch of aft stick pressure to maintain level flight. - I try to approach the basket as slowly as possible without allowing the closure to become negative. If I can approach as slowly as 6 inches per second, I do. - I don't make very many throttle adjustments as I'm approaching. Every power change affects attitude so I have more success when I find that perfect throttle setting that allows me to close very slowly and I focus on steering the probe into the basket. - Contrary to other common advice, I actually do stare at the basket, not the fuel pod, and then I switch my focus to maintaining the overall sight picture after I've plugged the basket. - As I'm approaching the basket I lean my head to the right and watch it from the side window, not through the jail bars. - You don't need a HUD. I can do AAR just as easily with my HUD turned off as with it on. I also fly in pancake mode (no VR).
  8. It's actually super easy once you learn the tricks. I can plug the basket after calling precontact within 2 mins every time, no matter which tanker, and I almost never lose contact before taking my desired fuel. Just keep practicing, you'll get it. And if you're getting hit by wake turbulence you're too high.
  9. Works great for me, 99% of the time. Except for once the other day where it was no different than attitude hold. I failed to capture on video and I couldn't replicate. It's doing it every time for you? Record a video.
  10. Yeah the bug mutated after the latest hotfix patch.
  11. He seems to work pretty great for me after yesterday's patch. If you think he's bad now you should've seen him before the patch. Can you share some video?
  12. Bug still present March 30th patch.
  13. Hallelujah, Iceman is fixed. Rejoice! Since...wow July...he hasn't been able to perform multiple tasks without the latter overriding the former, but now he can again. Thanks!
  14. Still a problem after today's patch, although not surprised since I just reported it two days ago. Hopefully it gets fixed in the next patch. I enjoy the auto throttle when it works.
  15. Yessir, we sure are. Especially F-14.
  16. One of the guys in my wing discovered a bug where after using auto throttle control once and then using auto pilot afterwards, the AP overrides the throttle levers in a way that is not intended. See video demonstration below:
  17. You're a genius, that's got to be it.
  18. I've been experimenting with downscaling my resolution from 3440x 2160 to 1920x1080 to help improve performance and spotting, and I noticed that the dashed lines representing the scan pattern gimbals become faintly filled in again at certain FOVs. This is from the front seat TID repeater.
  19. When approaching the ship, (Stennis in this case), the player voice calls out an incorrect fuel state. Can be seen in the picture below. Notice the difference between the 9.5 and 10.7 in the fuel gauge. I know the gauge is not always accurate, but I don't think it's ever off by 1200 lbs. Not sure what causes this bug, or how to reproduce it. I've noticed it for a while now, and just saw it again recently.
  20. Stupid question alert: Do track files from previous versions of DCS not work in updated versions? I had some server side track files that were playing perfectly recorded from the patch before the Apache release, and they no longer work in the current open beta (Apache release vers). It's not even that the track files are replaying inaccurately, but the aircraft aren't even spawning in. I CTRL+Z the time and wait, and wait some more, and no aircraft are spawning in or flying around.
  21. Yeah, same. Heatblur mentioned in the patch notes that realistic emergent behavior can result from improper use of the AP, but if you bring up the inputs overlay you can see the trim isn't being affected, and if you try to trim out the emergent roll behavior it leaves you with an uncentered trim setting in the input overlay. The only way to correct the un-commanded roll it is AP on/off again, which is easy to do, but doesn't seem logical.
  22. 2B - RIO IZLAD marking laser.
  23. I've heard it only happens on respawns but I haven't had computer time to verify.
  24. Noticed this was the default position of my stabs when I cold hot started on the deck today. Swiping the controls wouldn't reset it. Neither did cycling the three SAS switches. Cycling AP - Engage switch on/off before the cat shot reset the trim. Is this working as intended? Edit: I meant to say hot started above.
