Not sure why you think that, trim switch works fine for me. I have no issues engaging the AP, it's the behavior after it's engaged that is wonky.
-
Here's a video of the jittering stabs and some other new weird behavior that is new to the latest patch and/or hotfix. Stabs jittering at 350 kts with wings swept and in a bank. No jitter in level flight. And I'm getting all kinds of weird roll behavior opposite of where I deflect the stick. And sometimes the roll is accelerated for the amount of stick deflection. The opposite roll direction is the weirdest behavior though.

What is wrong with the TID and canopy reflection?
Callsign JoNay replied to ebabil's topic in Bugs and Problems
Sort of. https://clips.twitch.tv/JoyousAgitatedKathyUWot-4EkgdImJGWXYYS0V I get the same horizontal orangey bands reflecting across the TID but they don't look as intense as in your picture. -
PSA: F-14 Performance/FM Development Status + Guided Discussion
Callsign JoNay replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
So the consensus is the FM is almost right on the money for the A? Are there any diagrams to test against performance with Phoenix pylons? I'm trying to figure out how their weight is modeled and I can't recall seeing an official hearblur answer. The rumor I've heard is that the weight and drag are modeled correctly, and rhe absence of gross weight change when they are removed in the ME is just a false indication (glitch) in the mission editor. However, I have never felt any additional sluggishness with the pylons attached, so I did a test last night on the most current open beta. I tested 3 aircraft: #1- An F-14B with empty Phoenix pylons and 8100 lbs fuel. #2- An F-14B with no pylons and 8100 lbs fuel. #3- An F-14B with no pylons and 10,300 lbs fuel. I chose this fuel quantity because as I understand it Phoenix pylons weight ~500 lbs each plus ~100 for each fairing. Unlimuted fuel set in options so rhe gross weight stayed consistent through the test. I started at 500 feet sea level, 350 kts. Then I accelerated to 400 kts at full military power and began a smooth pitch up until wings symbol was 30 deg on the pitch ladder. I engaged attitude hold to minimize inputs that might cause inconsistent lift/drag. Then I held mil power until the aircraft dropped below zero on the VSI. Both of the 8100 jets seemed to perform exactly the same, stalling out at 26,500 feet. The no pylon 10,300 jet stalled out 1500 feet below them at around 25,000 feet. It seems to me that the weight of the pylons is not modeled. And the mission editor says a clean bird is 44,040 lbs which would seem to include the weight of the Phoenix rails according to publicly available info on the Tomcat's IRL gross weight. So it's confusing. Are the Phoenix rails weightless even though the ME says they weigh something? Is the gross weight as indicated in the ME inaccurate? It seems like it must be if the current FM matches the performance of the 4x AIM-7 4x AIM-9 loadout in the performance diagrams shared in this topic. Video of my test below. Feel free to tell me if I screwed something up, or if any of your own tests indicate something different than mine. Just trying to get to the bottom of this. -
Dynamic gross weight reading on kneeboard?
Callsign JoNay replied to Airhunter's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Except the Phoenix pylons, which are still a mystery. -
I've been getting occasional blackouts during catshots for many updates now, and just experienced it again yesterday too. I still don't know what causes it.

A friend and me used various modes of auto pilot today from a cold start with no issues. You sure you're turning on all the SAS switches?
-
A friend and I were approaching the pattern and called See you at 10. The virtual pilot called an incorrect fuel state. Video attached: https://clips.twitch.tv/RelatedQuaintBobaCeilingCat-94CXEw50cxSsjQV3 Not sure what caused it. We performed AAR during the mission before RTB, maybe the fuel calculation was affected by that?

PSA: F-14 Performance/FM Development Status + Guided Discussion
Callsign JoNay replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I don't feel the pitch nervousness, but I'm finding it harder to coordinate turns during routine cruising. My slip needle is all over the damn place. -
Yeah, what the hell is up with that anyway? I never use the bingo knob for this reason.

Dynamic gross weight reading on kneeboard?
Callsign JoNay replied to Airhunter's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Disagree. It's better to make a solo driver ask Jester for it. If it gets constantly calculated on a dynamic kneeboard (like the F-18) then human RIOs will fall back on it also instead of calculating it themselves. -
Oh, you're probably asking how to do it in the front seat, nvm. If you had a human RIO he could hook the contact and press 8/HDG on the CAP.
-
Press 8/HDG?

Instrument lighting wheel only affects the red backlight, not the white digital tapes. Console lighting doesn't affect it. I like a dark cockpit at night and the tapes are the brightest thing in my pit. I don't know if you've ever flown the F-18 module, but it's similar to flying at night with the Day setting on, and the IEFI panel white and unable to be dimmed.
-
Yes. I've been getting SLOX on nearly every recovery for as long as I can remember.
-
Yep, I had to rebind everything too. I had a feeling bindings would change for this patch and I backed everything up, but loading the backups didn't work.

Bumping this up, for some recent edits and updates. More news to come!

F-14 A&B can't place wheel chucks on ground
Callsign JoNay replied to Buzzer1977's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
That's a real life picture. I assumed we were taking about DCS. -

I don't think it has wheel chocks. -
Autopilot Altitude Hold problem Since Latest Stable Update
Callsign JoNay replied to tmansteve's topic in Bugs and Problems
In the current OB the autopilot slowly descends the aircraft even if I hold a consistent speed with 20 deg sweep. If I depart as per NATOPS at 300 kts, 500 feet, sometimes I descend to 400 before I get to 7 DME. Or during recovery if I establish overhead angels 2 at 250 I will drop ~100 feet during an orbit in the stack. The VSI needle is always a touch below 0. Does that sound like a bug or feature? -
Single-player bombing in F-14B
Callsign JoNay replied to VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
It was fun before they broke Iceman with the autopilot changes. I really hope Iceman fixes are coming soon. It's very difficult to practice backseat stuff currently. Have you tried HUD declutter? I can't remember if it hides "ORD" but I recently started using it to get rid of some of the clutter of symbology at the top of the HUD when strafing. -
Unpopular opinion, but for me personally modex and other options are more important than Jester Lantirn.
