  1. Does anyone know of a way to completely remove all particle effects from DCS? I have a track replay for a cinematic that was spoiled by someone accidentally dumping fuel in the shot, and I'm wondering if there's a way to hack that out of the replay without having to re-film everything. Is there some kind of LUA edit? I don't care if it passes IC, since I'll only use it once to edit a video project.
  2. Hey everyone, The 51st VFW is seeking an experienced AV-8B pilot who is interested in starting up and commanding a Harrier squadron within the 51st Virtual Fighter Wing umbrella, OR an already established AV-8B squadron who is looking for a larger wing to combine and coordinate with. The 51st VFW is a milsim (lite) PVE and PVP modern 4th gen wing. We are primarily American and Canadian, and operate in the evening hours of North American time zones. Our main wing events usually occur on Saturdays at 7:00 pm PST, and can last for 3+ hours including briefing and debriefing. Mid-week events happen at similar times on weekdays. We operate the F/A-18C, F-16C, A-10C II, F-15E, AH-64D, other BluFor support helos, and also have a team of controllers for ATC and GCI. Responsibilities of the new commanding officer will include: -Constructing a digestible 3-5 flight Initial Qualification Training (IQT) syllabus. -Processing Harrier applications, and contacting Harrier recruits to meet with them to see if they are the right fit for the 51st VFW. -Taking recruits on an initial checkride as part of the process of graduating recruits to cadets -Putting cadets through the 3-5 flight syllabus so they can graduate from cadet to a ranked combat-qualified AV-8B pilot of the 51st VFW. -Organizing a mid-week weekly or bi-weekly event for the Harrier squadron for further development and building team chemistry. -Participating in our main wing events with your new squadmates. If you think you are up for the challenge, join the discord at: https://discord.gg/51stvfw and fill out the application in the pinned comments of the General Discussion channel. Or send me a DM through Discord or the ED forums if you have follow up questions before submitting your application.
  3. That's just one problem. Another problem is the BFM standard in the DCS community of using slick jets, and fuel quantity settings with no regard for having to RTB to a potentially distant airbase. It's all a joke until that's addressed, but it never will be because the FBW crowd wants to have their cake and eat it too, without really exploring the nuances of DACT.
  4. Using exploits and cheap tricks in the F-14 was done in real life and are part of the Tomcat's lore/identity. Flaps, emergency swept wings, circuit breakers, and bending avionics all have trade offs and require talent to use properly. I have no sympathy for FBW, slick config, paddle pullers in the DCS community. The immortal pilot, and 20G structural allowance are things that need to be addressed for sure, though. I've also heard there is a bug where if you damage a Tomcat and it appears to be leaking fuel, it won't necessarily be leaking on their side.
  5. Aside from the Display and Autopilot panels..., -The entire ACM panel. -SAS (at least roll SAS). -The Target Designator switch, obviously. -Boost/ATC modes for the engine. -Asymmetric limiter maybe? -Spoiler and anti skid switch. -Fuel probe switch. -Flood lights white and red toggle. -All the Jester hotkeys like TWS, RWS, STT, TID ground and aircraft stabilized, ranges 400-25, etc. -ICS mic hot/cold (if you fly with others). For all radio and TACAN operation, I just use the mouse.
  6. Please enjoy our video from part 11 of our 12-part campaign, Operation: ANVIL STRIKE.
  7. I don't know why. I've heard lots of SMEs on youtube talk about how they pulled breakers to give themselves an edge. I think pulling breakers is part of the spirit and legend/lore of the Tomcat, and I wish HB would lean into that more. I'm sad that we never got a breaker for the main flaps.
  8. Something is either wrong with your throttle or your game. This is with a doomsday loadout, 0x2x6. It took me 300lbs more to climb to angels-35, and I have to burn about 3,800 PPH per engine instead of 3,500 PPH. My throttle is barely any higher than with the 3x2x2 load to hold 0.85 mach at 35,000 feet. Not even close to stalling here. Edited: I originally wrote 0x2x4 loadout, but this climb and cruise was with a 0x2x6 loadout.
  9. I don't have those problems in the B. I can climb from 1000 feet to 35,000 under mil power, only burning a little over 1200 lbs of gas. I was just under 19,000 lbs when I leveled out at 35k. And I could hold a cruise speed of 0.85 Mach at ~55% throttle, 93% RPM, and about 3,500 PPH burn on each engine. That gives me 2.7 hours of cruise time, and more if you consider the fact that the jet gets lighter as it burns fuel. This was with a 3x2x2 loadout. Tacview-20230625-203706-DCS.zip.acmi
  10. There are pilot key binds for TID range. And Jester almost always goes narrow FOV for me.
  11. I agree with the consensus that rudder control above 25 units is lacking. Like Spurts said, you need to cross control it with stick in the opposite direction of the desired roll to get the plane to turn. I'm not sure if this is accurate or not, but it contradicts mission 01 of Speed and Angels which instructs you to max the AOA and "use rudder only for turns". (It's not possible in the current OB to roll the jet this way without some cross control). I believe Paco, a real life SME, advised on the campaign, so that makes me wonder if rudder control should be adjusted.
  12. Here's the first time I saw it, back in March.
  13. I've seen that once before. I have no idea what I did to make it happen.
  14. I suppose that's true, more speed needed for more lift, but we're talking like 20-30 knots difference maybe.
  15. The Tomcat has a max launch weight of 57,000 lbs? I've never heard that before, is that a real thing? Even so, why would taking off over weight cause the pilot to black out? The jet is not accelerating any faster just because it's heavier. It's clearly an unintended bug.
  16. I'm still getting nothing on Blue 3 in this mission as of today's OB patch.
  17. Well, I am finally able to log in and test, thanks to ED's authentication issues today. I was eager to see what was changed about the EIG. It still looks crazy-bright at night. What was changed about this? null
  18. Hello everyone, We are gauging interest from the community about opening up a RedFor division within the 51st Virtual Fighter Wing. Recruitment is not officially open yet, but we are putting feelers out to see if there is enough of an appetite for it. We are seeking: -English speakers -Probably North America based, (or at least available during the evening hours of NA time zones). -A passion for RedFor weapon systems and tech. -Flanker series (27, 30, 33) pilots are what we are most interested in, as well as RedFor rotary, and Su-25. -MiG-29, 21, JF-17, F-1, etc will also be considered, but the airframes in the above bullet point are the priority. Our goal is not to use RedFor as cannon fodder or punching bags, but instead to create interesting and plausible scenarios where Blue and Red can interact through parallel objectives, weapons hold ROE and rising tensions, communications monitoring/jamming/encrypting, explore elements outside the game like spying and intelligence gathering on discord, and occasionally full-on combat when the tensions hit a boiling point or ROEs are met. Our goal is to create an environment where RedFor can compete, thrive, and stand shoulder-to-shoulder as equals with our established Eagle, Viper, Hornet, Warthog, Harrier, Apache/Helo, and Controller squadrons. With that being said RedFor pilots should be OK with being outnumbered and out-teched by the more developed and more popular BluFor airframes. (That's just the reality of DCS). We already have a RedFor discord role, which we use to bring in friends and guests of the wing to add a PVP element to some of our main wing events, but we are testing the waters to see if there are enough virtual RedFor pilots out there to establish something more structured. Ideally we would love to stand up a RedFor squadron, (or sub-wing?), within the 51st that has their own CO and XO, instructor pilots, their own initial qualification and training program (IQTs), standardized operating procedures (SOPs), and tactics. If this is something that interests you, please join the discord (https://discord.gg/51stvfw) and reach out to me via DMs. There is no official application for RedFor at this time, we are still in the brainstorming phase. Thanks! JoNay | 51st VFW
  19. I'm late to the party, and just doing my first play through of the original Raven One campaign. Is mission 4 broken? I'm not getting any prompt to check in with Blue 3. I've watched some play throughs on youtube, and it looks like there should be a prompt to check in with Blue 3 as you approach WP2/Station. In the brief it also mentions that rig calls will automatically happen on Wizard as you overfly boats. I put Blue 3 on Pri and Wizard on Aux just to cover both bases, and I'm overflying boats at 500 feet and not hearing anything on the radios. Anyone else?
  20. Do they? Or are they finally acting the way they should after removing the crazy ground friction we've had for the last few years?
  21. There's a bug report in the bugs forum about the Cat shot black out. It seems it's caused if you're over 60k gross weight.
  22. I've only done one cat shot since the update, but yeah I blacked out too.
  23. I dunno, I just do. You don't have time to think up there. If you think, you're dead.
  24. Meh. I don't coordinate turns based off the needle or string, I learned to coordinate (as best I can) through muscle memory. I only use the needle to trim out slip from an asymmetrical load, and the needle is responsive enough for that. Your custom view is nice, but we still have to remove the HUD camera to see the string, which I'm not a fan of. The default head position still works best for me. I can see ahead of me, and no part of the analog gauges or displays are hidden from my LOS. As to the OP's post, I would also welcome some increased range of motion in the mirrors. Not that I'm using them to look for bandits at my 6, but the current range of motion is so limited that the feature is basically just novelty at this point.
