  1. A customizable picture in the cockpit is an awesome idea.
  2. In DCS sometimes you have to wake the axis up with some movement before it responds. If you just put your IRL throttle to cutoff position and jump in the HB Tomcat, the throttle might not be in the correct spot initially. Sometimes I have to push the throttle to idle and back to cutoff before I begin starting things up to wake up the axes. I've never once modified my key file lua in DCS, and I can assure you the cutoff/detent works for me with no modifications necessary.
  3. You have to wait for the horizontal authority warning light to go out.
  4. I love that suggestion. Too bad HB considers Iceman feature complete.
  5. They glove pylons were absent in some ACM training, too.
  6. I just checked out my controls. The only thing you need to do is set right and left engine cutoff to the mechanical cutoff position (behind the detent) on your HOTAS throttle. Pushing the throttles back over the detent into the mil power range automatically pushes the DCS Tomcat's throttle levers into idle position. So you didn't have to adjust any keybinds, it's already built into the engine cutoff command as an "on else off" type command.
  7. Update as of March 5th 2023! Recruiting has re-opened for the F-14B and A-10C II, along with F-16C, F-15E, AV-8B, and AH-64D. Of all the modules that we operate, only the F/A-18C and LotATC are closed enrollment.
  8. Only server side tracks replay correctly. You wont be able to view from the cockpit, though.
  9. Isn't there a known bug with the AOA indexer lights at night if the brightness knob is not above 6, or something? Did you try maxing the brightness knob to see what happens?
  10. Jester holds your requested FOV zoom level when you are using head control and Vaicom? And when you are Qing to waypoints?
  11. I don't know why you're looking at it that way. I tell Jester to use RWS vs TWS vs STT all the time. I manage his TID range, his az/el, I am the one who shoots the missiles, etc. You would have a point if I asked Jester to search for ground targets or something, but once I've taken direct head control it should be my LANTIRN not Jester's.
  12. He never leaves the zoom where I ask him to leave it, even when I've taken direct head control. I think the Vaicom function is bugged.
  13. You don't need to add anything, it's alreay there. I use my winwing throttles to move from cutoff to idle all the time. I can't look up the name of the keybind because I'm traveling away from my PC, but it's in there somewhere.
  14. News update, Feb 26th 2023!! Recruiting is currently open for the F-16C, F-15E, AV-8B, and AH-64D. We are not recruiting for the F/A-18C, F-14B, A-10C, or LotATC at this time.
  15. I believe Jester is a bit bugged. He IDs NATO aircraft as friendly even if they are enemy coalition. He IFFs them properly, and so does the AWACS, so just ignore those "we locked a friendly" call outs, and reference the HAFU symbology.
  16. Are you playing an old build? It got changed somewhere between 6 months to 1 year ago, I believe. The AWG-9's PDSTT is only notched by the zero doppler filter now, not the MLC filter. (PD search modes can still be notched both ways though). When I asked HB why the 54, which has a PD radar, can be notched by perpendicular aspects but the AWG's PDSTT can't be, I was told it's because HB controls one while ED controls the other. So we can chalk the 54's behavior to notching targets up to either 1. API limitation, or 2. ED game-balancing the Phoenix. Combine that with the evasive pull up maneuver I reported in ED's forum, and the Phoenix has a major problem aside from its nerfed overhauled kinetics. PS. Thank you for the server recommend.
  17. It's a double edged sword. Human opponents can't detect the missile from as far away, but they can anticipate it and preemptively defend it earlier. And you don't need AI-perfect notching to break the AIM-54's active lock and send it into its evasive pull up maneuver. Human pilots can do it easily too of their RWR is good. The AIM-54 is not easily defeated because the AI is too smart, it's easily defeated because of the current guidance limitations. It's a PDSTT lock that can be notched , (and once it's notched even once it's toast), while the AWG-9 is a PDSTT that can't be. It's illogical, but an unfortunate limitation apparently. New API can't come soon enough! By the way, what servers do you recommend? Seems like everything these days is either air Quake, or cold war (Fox-1 only), or PVE.
  18. I seem to recall a recent patch note about fixing some missing reflectivity textures in the cockpit. I thought it was the VDI and HSD, but maybe it was the HUD too? I just went back through the last few patch notes, but I couldn't find it. Another reason why people might be noticing it more lately is the extra performance hit that came with 2.8, and many people downgrading their settings to maintain FPS. I just don't see how flat shadows would work in the pit. Would it be like a 2D gray shadow cutout half way between the virtual pilot's head and the consoles? What would happen if you used your head tracker to lean forward? Would your head go through the shadow? Would the shadow follow your head position forward and start clipping through the front consoles? How would it work with the seat and floor? Would it slice/clip down through them vertically? I don't ever recall seeing flat cockpit shadows in any version of DCS, or even in any youtube video.i don't think it was ever a thing, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong if someone has a video link.
  19. Just wondering how everyone expects flat shadows to manifest over all the different surfaces of the cockpit. I can't even begin to visualize how it would work.
  20. Interesting. This has been happening to my Winwing throttle lately. I upgraded my PC recently, so I assumed it was an issue with a USB port or my USB HUB, but now you've got me wondering. Rescanning devices works for me as well.
  21. Just checking in to see if any progress has been made. Are we still on track for the beginning of 2023?
  22. Are you flying with shadows off? I don't see any shadows in the picture, and your seat and head can't block the sun if shadows are disabled. That might be the issue.
  23. Finally a picture. I've never seen it that bad. Screen cap your graphics settings?
  24. I wouldn't mind the 6 button presses to center the NAVGRID if Jester was smart enough to keep it centered. (And to re-center it after you've come back to it from an aircraft stabilized mode). Basically he should keep centering it until you ask him to do otherwise. The center Navgrid function is probably the #1 reason why I switched to using VAICOM, becsuse i do it probably 20+ times every flight. The hilarious and ironic thing is the entire Navgrid category in Vaicom is borked by default, so you have to fix it on the user side. It's a pain in the butt, but it's worth it in the end. But now with the new pure scripts IC option, many servers (like Hoggit) don't allow it. Hopefully Jester 2.0 is better, smarter, and allows an easier way to interact with voice commands.
  25. You don't like making 6 button presses to ask Jester to do it? /s
