Unoriginal and ineffective Ethereal, you lose 10 Rep points. Far too vulnerable to AA weapons, as has been demonstrated by the good old patron of Blowing Stuff Up, Jeremy Clarkson: (Let it get going, or skip to halfway)
-
DCS: Volkswagen Beetle Cost effective and repetitive.

^ Thought your sig was one for a mo lol

Probably less than the gun. EPIC FAIL

I think it would be very hard to explain if the boss caught you just as you scrolled past the NSFW image, on a page of full-colour photographs of Nazi rallies lol Brilliant find, for me somehow the colour makes it more immediate. Never again.

That's a very good point, well noticed.

With regards to the above that's what I do Newt, but i'd prefer a formal briefing done how the RuAF do it (ideally that is printable). I have no idea what the briefings are like in RL, just would like to get as close as possible. If they are like the ones in game then great! All that's needed is a larger map (tiny on my screen).

Now I see what is meant by 'The A-10 was built around it's cannon' (or something along those lines..).. Amazing pic, well found. Imagine mounting that on Bradley or Warrior lol, they'd become area weapons. And even louder.

The amount of accidents we get in the press the Royal Navy ought resort to a stealthy sponge coating. Cork would be ideal, but tends to add buoyancy.
-
I thought that, a Tucano with Stingers. Practical and exciting (like the Skoda adverts). AA cannon would be a no-no though in a city?

Yeah heard this on the radio today.

Hehe  It's ok, they had Immortal set to 'on' .

Ten Minutes of Apache Madness
CE_Mikemonster replied to dirt-torpedo's topic in Military and Aviation
I was only saying have some respect, it's a real weapon system and those were real lives. (Someone without an AK is just as dangerous in terms of setting off a roadside bomb with his mobile phone then running home). -
Ten Minutes of Apache Madness

Unless you're one of the guys who has to clean up the area afterwards and identify the bodies. C'mon a bit of respect? No running from that helicopter though, nasty. -
OOoooooohhh the Sea Harrier FRS.2 (FA.2) http://www.wingweb.co.uk/aircraft/Harrier_VTOL_Jump-Jet_part3.html Single seat, AA capability (including TWS and AMRAAMS), AG capability, carrier borne, V/STOL for dirt strips in Georgia. Limited but effective, with (I presume) quite a lot of declassified technology. EDIT: I know that the wingmen AI is being looked at, but please can we have more informative radio calls? For instance, instead of simply 'Tally bandits', we have; 'Bandits, 3 o'clock, Su-25 two ship, 2km' And when engaging ground targets, instead of just 'missile away' a target type is called, for instance; 'Two - Missile away, Igla MANPAD, 4.5km' I just think it would help with co-ordinating missions as the formation lead, as well as adding immersion. After getting wacked a few times by Su-25's it'd be nice to get some warning - if not from the mission brief, observers on the ground or AWAC's at least from the Wingies who spot them. As for the ground target being stated it would help a hell of a lot with situal awareness following the Engage Air Defences command, and many others. Regards! MM

The Ka-50 hardly exists, hahahaha

70% Of Russia's MiG-29s Unflyable.
CE_Mikemonster replied to morsmortis's topic in Military and Aviation
Even if 70% of Mig-29's ARE unflyable, exactly how many do Russia need? I can't imagine them needing any significant number seeing as they don't have an immediately close enemy with an 'offensive air' capability. Maybe it IS true that 70% are unflyable, but it's a bit superficial seeing as they don't have an immediate need for them? Suppose that's one way of looking at it anyhow, just some input. Operation seelowe is very interesting, one of many 'possible' turning points during WWII. . (Wiki) A slightly more significant one I personally believe was Dunkirk, which allowed the PROFFESSIONAL core of the British Army to remain (and to train the wartime army). It meant that Hitler still had a land threat to deal with [immediate or not]. Even more important is Hitler's bluff that started the war (invading Poland). The Wehrmacht wasn't planning to fight a war until ~1945, as far as I know. On countless occasions (including the BoB) Hitler fought the Generals for control, which obviously meant changing the [extremely effective] priorities and targets of the Armed Forces. Examples can include halting the panzers at Dunkirk, and switching to bombing cities in the BoB, as well as the aforementioned fixation on Russian cities. Hitler did indeed demonstrate his 'fuhrerprinzip' - by effectively paralyzing the most dynamic and adaptable Armed Forces in the world. -
Hahaha yeah the shrinking dot? And later on we had the consoles you had to tune into lol, priceless. That was what Channels 5 to 7 were FOR lol (only 4x terrestrial TV channels over here back then :()
-
Hahahaha, for me it meant 'aaaaaaaaages till cartoons come on' I still remember our old TV with 5 'clicky' buttons on the front, and manual tuning for each seperate channel lol.

I've just fallen in love with the A-10, looks amazing. Out of interest what facts do we know about the scenarios planned for it? Nevada [as a location] is certain, anything else? rgds, MM

ALT + F4 is AA mode, with Iglas. Saving that there's the search function lol
-
Does anyone remember a similar screen being on in the night when TV 'stopped'? Aaaahhh the good old days (UK)
-
Escort fighers and SAM envelopes, as a guess? I'm preeeeeeety sure a 1v1 multiplayer match between an A-10 and a KA-50 wouldn't be worth it lol
-
At the end of the day the hardware really comes second next to tactics, morale and training. If your M1A2 was worse than the opposition i'm hoping you wouldn't use it in the same way you would against T-55's lol
-
Yeah it's not so much 'cycling through', but more 'selecting inboard or outboard' pylons. I know there's a lot to learn but make sure you read the manual and then you'll get the basics and work up from there.
