  1. Stop it! You are spoiling the sim! ;)
  2. I had a quick peek around online, the E0 is a later and updated C0, which results in slightly lower temps and Voltage req's. As far as i'm aware there are a lot of conflicting opinions, but when OC'ing the E0 has higher potential simply because it's more efficient. I'm don't see how the C0 would be a danger to the mobo or be less stable, it'd just take more cooling to match the E0. But even then we're not talking any massive heat output difference, surely? There must be far more important variables on heat than the extra small % increase that the C0 might give.
  3. Sundog you've set me off. I know it's off topic, but.. Oh god, I can't help myself: http://www.arrse.co.uk/wiki/Walt (Wiki of British armed forces' forums) Good for a laugh any day. Scroll down a little bit. 'Don't worry Sir, i'm from The Internet.'
  4. Realtemp & hwmonitor. My case has a 21cm fan blowing onto the mobo though, and as I built the comp myself I used some good thermal compound instead of the horrible white goo that i've seen. Not sure if that will make much difference though, as i'm presuming most people OC'ing use that too. When running BS (Med-High)i've found I run at 100% when @ 3.16, hence wanting to OC. Does anyone know just how many GHz BS tops out at? (I know that's a very simple question with no right answer) PS. Is the only practical difference between the E0 and C0 the lower power consumption and temps on the E0?
  5. I'm at 3.6 atm with my E8500, stock cooler. Haven't really seen any major temp increases. If i'd known OC'ing was this simple (still need to sus out all the voltages), I would have dibbled a long time ago.
  6. Brilliant. I'm not bumping this, it's just the problem has re-occured, only this time it seems the FSB ceiling is 380MHz. 380= ok 381+= no POST I've sorted the RAM ratio as well, cheers rapid. EDIT: All sorted now, it was a low NB voltage as well as the CPU voltages needing to be raised a little bit. Ty
  7. Good lad. I'm sure you understand what I mean - There's quite a few 'armchair warriors' online who've never been anywhere near a recruiting sergeant, who adopt various 'favourite' unit insignias etc lol. Mainly airsofters, hahahaha. 'Weekend Green Beret'
  8. note: Fixed, methinks. Updated BIOS and #wallahh# it works! Cheers for advice/time, thanks a lot for the file as well Axion. At the mo OC'd at 3.42GHz with stable temps ~50C Might even buy a non-stock HSF! Regards all, MM
  9. I see, cheers Rapid, i'll have a proper look now whilst gf has something on the Eurovision song contest on. I'm running a divider of 1:1 for FSB:RAM, as far as i'm aware. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Having looked in BIOS, Working Settings are: FSB Freq: 350MHz DRAM Freq: 933Mhz That's with the CPU at 3.34Ghz speed, total FSB of 1411MHz And Non-Working settings are: FSB Freq: 360MHz DRAM Freq: 959MHz As for RAM ratio's, despite understanding the concept I can't see any BIOS options related to them. The nearest thing to it I can think of is the 'CPU Ratio Setting', which is at 09.5 (My CPU has a 9.5x Multiplier as standard)
  10. Thanks mate. When I turn the ram freq down to min (667Mhz or close) it POST's, then shows the 'Windows' loading bar for a second, then reboots. So the RAM Freq did make a difference, but I fail to see what difference is between 350Mhz and 351Mhz fsb lol At the moment i'm on 350Mhz with RAM at 993 or near, working fine?! Core 2 Duo E8500 (3.16Ghz stock speed) P5K-Pro PC-8500 Corsair Dominator RAM (5-5-5-15, 1066Mhz, 2.1V) Vista-64
  11. Hello everyone, I've been trying to OC my e8500 Core 2 Duo and every time I set the FSB to over 350mhz it fails to post. I've googled all afternoon but can't find anything like this. 350mhz is all happy, 351mhz will not post. Temps are all ok, 32c at idle. I have a feeling there could be an obvious answer, but this is doing my head in! Thanks in advance, Mike
  12. I noticed the Airborne theme in a couple of you fellas' names. I started Basic with the Parachute Regiment last year and the Cpls were not too impressed with the release of a book called 'Apache!' over here in the UK. Sore spot being that the pilots are indeed 'In the s**t,' but most of our Toms on the ground don't have the reassurance of sitting in a titanium bathtub whilst under fire! (DAOR'd from Basic btw, military life not for me. My full respect to the few who make it. I do feel though that people shouldn't adopt insignias as sigs unless affiliated with the unit. The men really do earn the right to wear their badges.) As for the comp... lol, what mobo do you have? If it's a decent quality you'll only really have the PSU, CPU, GPU and RAM to upgrade (one at a time and in priority/price). It won't be a problem if you keep your eye open for eBay specials! We'll help!
  13. Stole the words right out of my mouth Flanker! Gunship! WAAAhhhhhhHH!
  14. On my Application Profiles I added the shortcuts as well as the DCS.exe, not sure if that will work? Under 'File' I can see: Launcher.exe, DCS.exe, KA-50
  15. A sticky subject, but a dynamic campaign would bring the sim to life for me (Being a Falcon 4 player rather than a LOMAC player). Edit: And solid trees that the enemy cannot see/target you through. ;)
  16. TaskAssign worked perfectly for me - Thankyou very much OP! Vista x64 Core 2 Duo
  17. When I was researching buying my TrackIR4 I saw that on a couple of European sites, but apparently not very common. Having seen the simplicity of TrackIR/Freetrack though I don't see this product necessarily being worse. Suppose it'll just need a lot of research before you decide if it's worth getting? Looks a bit like it's only worth it if it's considerably less expensive than TrackIR.
  18. I'm also running a 1900x1200 monitor and reading everything seems fine to me (I need a new GPU though!). This serves you right for having such an enviable hardware setup in my opinion, so you're getting no help from me! Haha joking aside, do DPI settings (Win Ctrl Panel) make any difference to text size? I know it's a long shot. Good luck!
