  1. Try turning CPU Core Parking to Off and (NVidia users) turning Thread Optimisation to Off as well Don't know if AMD/ATI VGA's have a similar (Thread Optimisation) function
  2. Good point johnv... My system works better with Triple Buffering off (?)... the program needs to be set up for the halfrate you mention to take effect when the normal Vsync (not the NVidia Adaptive Vsync) to take effect. The only program I have seen (and not saying others, which I haven't seen, don't) limit to half is the Heaven benchmark. According to the description in the NVidia CP... Turning Adaptive Vsync, only has the vsync on, when the frame rate is higher than the refresh rate, at lower than refresh rate, the vsync is off.
  3. and a little offtrack, except for the information on not turning the Page Off (which I never said) completely... basically, what works on one person's machine, with their unique configuration, may not necessarily work on another person's. 1.5 x the memory size was the usual recommendation for a fixed size Page File (on the same disc as windows, or preferably another disc) and was useful for Windows XP and earlier operating systems. The Page File was instituted very early in the computer world, and Platter Drives, to cover the cost, and through that, the small amount of physical RAM available... with the idea of setting a "Fixed Size" to prevent the dynamic nature of the File itself. It was also to help prevent it becoming fragmented. How things have changed since those halcyon days. I've tested SSD's with "automatic windows" (ie Let Windows Automatically control the Page File) setting, Fixed size" on the same disc as Windows, and "Fixed size" on a separate disc... only to find no real improvement running Windows 7. If moving the Page File to a separate disc, it is imperative to leave a (minimum) 200Mb size Page File on the System Disc in case of a Blue Screen.
  4. On occassion taking the Page File out of Windows control can cause issues... had an FSX addon once which required the Page File be set to Windows control or the FSX would crash
  5. Looks like a problem for Dependency Walker to run on, to determine which of the 32/ 64 bit files have gotten mixed around.
  6. just look at it this way.... it might make it, it might not but in any regard - its all subject to change
  7. seems we're all having memory lapses this morning... back around page 2, Sith (I'm sure it was you, I could be wrong though) in a could be related sense Anyways... I'm sure RRG will pick a convincing point to start from and work forward from there. Given success and time we'll all have our wishlist see reality
  8. Well... you have your opinion, it doesn't necessarily make it right though :music_whistling: or one which constantly needs to be repeated  RRG are putting a KS up? iEDIT KS as mentioned earlier in the thread and accidentally released 'tube video as seen by Sithspawn
  9. But that's just it... no-one has said anything about getting anything out "as quick as possible", or for that matter, about taking "as long as it takes". Foolish it would be, to have a roadmap containing "release as quick as possible". Impatience caused the what was was not so long ago... We can wishlist 'til the cows come home... let's see what they come up with, afterall it is their creative energies which will need to be utilised
  10. I would tend to disagree three there, as others may as well, considering the PTO is a huge drawcard (provided the necessary and requisite carriers are included) il2 Pacific Fighters was quite popular Yeah... termination conditions... was there one? if so, it looks like it is past the use by date flight sim history has; going back to the Western Front = disaster There's quite a few PTO planes available in various museums It'll have to expand to continue the (which many bang on about) "business model"... Spits, Zeros, Corsairs, etc, etc, carriers, maps (incl buildings, assets, etc) and shipping. Really... its all speculation until official word arrives, on (scheduled: Sept 1)
  11. Also, cloning a previous system hard drive onto a new system generally isn't a good idea. A good practice is to completely set the new system up from scratch, with a clean install of the operating system. (I'm surprised windows hasn't flagged a re-activation request as well) Remember to install the DCS to a directory outside of the Windows Program Files Folder
  12. @ Jar... yes, many just get too excited Having such a high Kickstarter target for the F35, was always being hopeful at best and realistically, I'm sure it made a good marketing guide - hype doesn't sell
  13. @ Zaelu... I'm sure Westr appreciates your helping with the enquiry made :smilewink:
  14. On first reading, it appears to be a new branch of the DCS... meaning (possibly) the current jet age which is combined with the piston era of the air combat genre. The Combined arms, could well be considered the ground war branch(?)
  15. Welcome! Good news and waiting patiently for September DCS: PTO ? :smilewink: :)
  16. RRG seems to have been around for quite a number of years now (pre Pacific Fighters?)... at least, as a sideline to MG
  17. Excellent news indeed ! (It would be real nice if Oleg was involved as well... :) )
  18. Actually, you've missed some that you should have deleted and kept some you should have... keep it up and you'll lose customers
  19. and some get overly excited and behave in the opposite of what you describe
  20. @ Sithspawn... Point taken  and (here comes one of those "in general" statements :) ) perhaps better to put the confusion, and possible upcoming confusions to bed now with a resorting of the "wording" and clarification of what is to be what? Its sort of what was said earlier about "pitching in the boardroom"... making things sound better than they really are, generally comes back to bite. yes, there is that... but, being forced to buy it without wanting to fly it, because a mission designer has included a particular addon into their mission would be a very sad state of affairs. Also, the fly the ai mod don't have the particular model specific cockpit, etc, to use... they're only flying a skin
  21. also to Sith, Viper, others... That isn't "standalone" though... (unless "standalone" is being morphed as well). "Stand alone" is; it stands in its own right - one .exe and no need for another program to be installed for it to work. ie there is/ was the original DCS A10-C which required just one install... there was also the Ka50, as compared to DCS: World which has the A10-C as a module. stand-a·lone /ˈstændəˌloʊn/ Show Spelled [stand-uh-lohn] Show IPA Computers. adjective 1. self-contained and able to operate without other hardware or software. noun 2. a device or program with these characteristics. Origin: 1965–70
