  1. How's the (as it comes off the roll, so to speak) side by side coming along?
  2. Well, I was asking you that :) besides which, you asked if you were "missing something?" Have you read the link supplied?
  3. oh, oops... none of those are "modern sims" though Did you read the link?
  4. Which "Modern Sims" do you refer? and did you read the link supplied?
  5. Sorry Bliss, but I think I may have pointed that out? If you're physically changing things around, its bound to screw something up (as well as place many, many ghost entries in your Device Manager. Using the CH Manager tie function is part of the problem It can only work from what its fed, yeah? (Stick ID 1 is now reading from Windows, after swapping things around, that it is now ID 4? Well, at least it can set up more than four ;) I don't see that one for JS another Throttle, etc and so forth is a problem look outside the box and back in how you're going about things?
  6. I did read what you said, and the "problem" is not the sim... its the CH Manager. You can do exactly as you seem to ask, by not using the CH manager and assigning in game, which is the better place to that (I' haven't used CH gear or manager since FSX days, and that was quite a while ago - inaccurate gear and painful manager)... also, I've never had Windows bounce controller ID's around without physically removing and re-connecting them
  7. @Bliss... You get one column for Throttle, one column for Pedals, one column for Joystick, One for Keyboard, another for Mouse, and then another for Headtracker, and then another for other control devices as detected and a section under each plane type for HOTAS (where "axis" are selectable). Look at the second item down (highlighted in different colour) in the pulldown for the particular plane type you're trying to assign for. Not that its that hard (as it does, from memory, seem to be an asked for situation in other sims) but its not a one configuration for all planes... each must be done for each plane you might want to fly - which can be a good thing :) Its not that bad once you get used to it, only bug is some updates might wipe any ingame assignments made and some cross entry across columns.
  8. Smooth as silk, this side, before hand put up the "side by side', in real time, without any modifications... you might "re-think" the Church comment though, as it leaves you wide open ;)
  9. err... your "video" (Shoulder size on) shows the same stutter effect Listen... what is trying to be recreated is the use of RL peripheral vision, and until a two point pivot, with a goose neck (for clarity) between the two points, it ain't a "proper neck", and that's in no way, no shape and no form. You don't like what I'm saying? fair enough... just call it a View Point mod and be honest about it, because that's all it is. Now.. if what is a "true" Over the Shoulder Look , the view would tilt slightly (headroll).... the eyes don't stay level when looking behind with moving the head/ shoulder/ spine to see... the eyes are then on about a 15 - 20 degree angle.
  10. @ Lange... Totally agree - you're not alone
  11. Yes, it is a good idea to keep talk of things commercial and gaming separate. One thing which worries me, with regard to the screenies... understood it is that everything is in very very early stages - very early stages, but the terrain (noted is the qualifier of NO COLOUR CORRECTION) shown is eerily familiar. If Speedtree is being used... let's hope the LOD side of things scales well
  12. Glad the realisation of what I have offered previously :music_whistling: , is finally getting through... well done
  13. yeah, I can see that keeping the time periods consistent would take a fair bit of under the hood code rejigging to achieve, possibly even to the point of having to create a whole new interface to World. Perhaps this will happen time, as it did with the pre DCS:World environment (legals permitting?)
  14. That actually does happen and doesn't stop it @ P*Funk... if you hold your breath too long, you go blue in the face
  15. well... patience is a virtue well worth the acquiring +1 @ Kuky :)
  16. AF makes a huge hit on grass/ shrubbery, etc
  17. Monthly updates are fine... they'll be much meatier that way
  18. A few things to look at and consider... Was the sim installed in Administrator mode? Was it installed to a root folder outside of C drive? if yes to above, has the Root Folder been given Full Permissions? (slightly different to running As Administrator) Turn off CPU Core Parking (Core Parking shuts down cores to save power... true DCS isn't truly MC aware, but the operating system is) another for NVidia users... turn Threaded Optimisation (in NV Control Panel) to Off
  19. mmmmm... Battle of Midway >drool<
  20. Completely different genre, as far as software goes between the two... completely different mechanics happening under the hood, between the two... and highly unfair and ill-considered to compare one to the other. With the creation DCS: World and the addition of all the new modules, it takes a bit to process all that information in an on-line situation... more modules, such as Combined Arms = more information to process. The sim has been, and is being, expanded on from its early original beginnings and code needs to be developed as the sim grows. Its not like the developer just gets a tried and tested template, puts the pretty pictures in and sets it up to a series of servers designed for mmo, of which pretty much all information/ engine, etc, is held on the servers - the end user just gets a cookie and couple of levers to pull and a few buttons to press.
  21. Warthunder? is that the mmo Warthunder you mean??
  22. you need to take into account though, the many and varied systems there are out there (its not like Xbox for instance, where all developers write to the one platform) and also how the many varied owners run them (ie what they may or may not have running in the background, the many varied operating systems, etc)
  23. Instead of just "rain on the glass"... I'd like to see rain (and snow, etc) fall over an entire area, and relevant effects (puddles forming and water drops splashing up as the rain hits the ground. Look off into an incoming storm front for instance, to see rain and lightning more like lightning - and yes, complete with a Saint Elmo's fire effect :)
  24. In the meantime, try a Clean Boot
