  1. Just got announcement that DCS: Kfir is on its way. I figure Kfir is close enough to Nesher to be period realistic in South Atlantic conflict. Kfir is Israeli Mirage 5. Kfir is more advanced then Nesher used by Argentinians in 1982. Gotta say. I did not see that one coming. But I rarely read the upcoming threads. Interesting type. So DCS would have three Mirages as separate mods. Mirage2000C, Mirage F1, and Kfir.
  2. We don't have great CP/G. We got George.
  3. Check Google Earth. Bering Strait is shared by US and Russia. Canada has Arctic Ocean coast. Aleutians is a picket line of radar stations, Naval stations, and some fishing stations. Shemya Island, Kiska, Attu. All vital. Aleutians were the only US territory in North America to be occupied, temporarily, by Imperial Japan.
  4. You are correct. But DCS , IMHO, is not about strategic warfare. More of a tactical battles fought over area with conventional weapons. Aim is to capture and hold terrain for aggressor. Repulsion of invasion by defender. Key terrain (including water) is Bering Straight, Cape Krunsenstern, St. Lawrence Island, Diomede Islands, Ice Road(s) from Canada, and Aleutians. Aleutians is the island chain bridge from Kamchatka Peninsula to AK and North American continent. Ripe for island hopping strategy. That maybe a big too big for DCS. If so just Bering Strait and vicinity. Taking tack of strategic bombers over North Pole penetrating into NORAD airspace, the NORAD interceptor bases, USAF Air Forces Alaska, BMD sites , giant OTH radar sites, all have to be attacked with conventional weapons. Thus DCS: Bering Strait. In defense of Island. Tom Clancy thought it was important, and that's good enough for me.
  5. Also, IL-28 Beagle, Yak-25 maybe, early TU-95, Soviet late WWII and 1950's transports, and Soviet merchants. US helicopters of the day S-58, SH-3, various banana shaped piston engined helicopters. The obvious Soviet IRBM and SRBM (but without nuclear weapons sims), D-30 towed howitzer, T-34, T-54, Soviet half-tracks, trucks. WWII pack should have plenty of misc. equipment. As Pre-Revolution Cuba had hand-me downs from USA.
  6. DCS: Baltic is still my most wanted. However my European theater desire maybe partially fullfilled by Kola Penninsula. But Kola is all water and mountains, which is FANTASTIC, but little in way of urban terrain, and not much of strategic terrain. Water and sky are strategic. Unless I am missing something. DCS: Baltic is chockfull of European urban areas, roads, valleys, cliffs, fjords, manmade ground hazards. In my thinking Baltic should stretch from Kaliningrad (Konigsberg) to Skagen, Denmark and Eastern North Sea. I figure unless forced, Baltic Fleet is bottled up in Baltic, with threats from three cardinal directions.
  7. That would be DCS: Iceland or DCS: North Atlantic. Going off hypothetical scenario modeled on Red Storm Rising. Iceland is key to Atlantic, as it seats middle way between North America and Europe.
  8. CP/G should call out range after pilot instructs to lase/engage. Right now, he only reports out of range. When in range "Lasing target, range 3250 meters". Combined with tgt cross on pilot TADS, builds situational awareness quickly. Its tempting to cheat with labels, as range is displayed, but it degrades realism. Ironic if real world HUD or helmet displayed instant target , range, and friendly/threat color, that would be G*d send to warfighters. My biggest issue with AH-64D module is that everything that has to do with CP/G and threat engagement is far way too slow and unreliable. "Engaging" then 5 seconds later no fire still. There is a trick that I hit upon by accident to get George to fire gun quicker. After selecting the target, tell George to engage. Immediately switch to gun and fire few rounds. Tell George to engage again. He does it within 1 or 2 seconds. Does not always work as advertised, but its an improvement. Rockets fire your self. Leave Hellfires to George.
  9. Civilian traffic that interferes or slows down movement of CA units. Civilian traffic drive through CA vehicles.
  10. Which is not a good idea as Turkish Straits and Western Black Sea littorals are hot potential conflict zones between NATO and RF. Turkish Straits because that is only way in/out of Black Sea for naval traffic, and Western Black Sea because that's where US-NATO ABM sites are. So if ED won't do it, its for other reasons. Which is fine. That is their decision.
  11. Expand existing Black Sea & Georgia to Western Black Sea coast and Turkish Straits
  12. DCS: Caribbean & Gulf Of Mexico.
  13. Aleutian Islands , Bering Strait, maritime Alaskan area, and Sakhalin Island Could just be called DCS: Bering Strait or DCS: Aleutians. Strategically Aleutians and Bering Strait are super-strategic.
  14. Second that. Those are called 'expeditionary airfield'. Bunch metal plates secured to graded terrain, with arrestor cables on each end. Or expedient road strips with surveyed positions for expedient shelters and tactical ILS/TACAN for all weather operations. Right now those can be cheated , to a point, by new FARP plate static heliport pad object.
  15. Ability to place active MANPADS and INFANTRY on naval vessels. if feasable allow wheeled active APC and IFV to be placed on deck of carriers, LHA, and amphibious ships like static objects linked to units. In 1988, after U.S.S. Stark attack and downing of IranAir Airbus, USN had Stinger teams on decks. Marines have been doing this in PG to augment ship's firepower against small surface threats. Unless this has been solved by mod script. Cheers
  16. Well thats an interesting point for special ops mission. Abandoned Trident at disused Nicosia airport. BTW real Nicosia airport is much more heavily disused. Ruins really , fit for survival horror game or film set. MGRS grid 36 S WD 24896 91093 Curious if there is an undamaged version static peaceable of Trident. European passenger jets from 1960's are so lovely. Trident, Sud Caravelle. So rare to see them flying today. Add Boeing 727 to the list. 727 is my favorite Boeing jet.

  17. My apologies. But how am I spamming? I am not selling anything. I am a user and player just like most of the rest here.
  18. Yes it does. But I would submit that 10 Hellfires impacting a corvette sized surface combatant or patrol ships, will do sufficient damage to slow it down, stop its propulsion, and kill its weapons to a significant degree.
  19. I do know that. I am hoping that ED reworks the code of missile and accuracy of damage model on a vessel. In effect giving Hellfire more punch in DCS.
  20. Tried it with 8 AGM-114K against Molnyas. CP/G was a good tropper this time out. All 8 connected. But the point of impact was always amidships on upper hull or lower superstructure. Centermass target. After absorbing 8 Hellfires and damage reported at 53%, Molnya could still book at 33 knots and still fired its AK-630 (but missed at 3.8 km). I closed with it after expending Hellfires to see what gun can do against. George did let off 50 burst, and some may have hit, but those AK-630 is a like waterhose of AAA. No way could I get close enough. Good thing is that I can see tracers few seconds before they arrive, giving me time to evade at 3.8 km slant dist to tgt. Regardless of skill level of Molnya , it never uses its SAM or MANPADS (if it has them). The Aligator landing ship, on other hand, do use MANPADS to defend themselves. Thus a Molnya and Alligator task force presents a credible AAA and SHORAD threat. So sad conclusion, is that given DCS damage models and power of Hellfire K, DCS: AH-64D is not an optimal anti-surface platform. I gather others already knew that, I expect promotion to Cpt. Obvious or even the Major AH as a reward . But I had to experience it for my self. AV-8B still remains my all time favorite CAS/light ASW platform in DCS followed by A-10C. To sink ships bring a Hornet and Harpoon. Hoping that FCR Hellfire L mmw radar variant gives more punch.
  21. What you wrote may be correct as developed. But JHC! it is utterly confusing as to what is happening. If CP/G puts gunsight on target, and I want to press the trigger, while George is fiddling after "Engaging" or "Firing", the gun should fire on target. The gun fires, but rounds go somewhere else. IMHO, right now, as it stands. The interaction between pilot and GeorgeAI is ..e..ef ^ top to bottom. The thought and logic behind it is poor. As I am not a programmer, not a developer, just a user. As end user, it is messed up. There is no realistic chance of victory or survival a high intensity battle with player pilot and GeorgeAI. I have not yet tried to play this mod as both front seat, effectively turning Apache into a hypothetical single seat variant, thats for later. Maybe. The requirement to hold steady hover or slow fwd flight with LOS to target for 10 or more seconds, while AI fiddles with target system and weapon time of flight, is in itself almost a deal killer.
  22. Where on IHAADS or TDS screen is distance to lased target (by George CP/G) is shown? Right now the distance to the right of W# in IHAADS is distance to route point , not target. Switching TDS to ATK from NAV does not resolve question. Nor can I make out the distance to target on TADS display.
  23. With ACQ set to TADS, target in view by CP/G. If CP/G fires the rounds go to the target. But if pilot (player) fires gun, the gun fires boresight. Despite that TDS is set to TADS, WPN page ACQ set to TADS. Gun operation on monocle is COOP. That can't be right. Example Target is sighted and on TADS WAS set to gun by CP/G and is shown on GeorgeAI popup in pilot seat. ACQ is TADS on WPN page CP/G fires, and rounds splash around target. Player activates gun to COOP and fires gun. Rounds are fired boresight without any relationship to any IHAADS symbology and impact somewhere far off target. That is confusing. Becouse a second later the CP/G fires gun and rounds are on target.
  24. That could be caused by high speed, or over pitch for headwind and gross weight. I imagine the aircraft uses the uphill portion of runway as a ramp of sorts. Thats pilot aircraft handling skills. I've done that. Its part of the learning curve. Anyways, Andersen runways are long enough and forgiving in their current state. If ED agrees with you and tessellates the geometry or adjusts their code for body collision behavior, I am good with that. Came up under search Andersen Air Force Base GUAM AAFB.
  25. Thats how it is IRL. Look at Internet images of its runways. https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=DKqvRNSd&id=93765228A3C9DEDC07DB40B7BCDFED410F75FEC5&thid=OIP.DKqvRNSdSjPDk3LLwZdfYAHaE6&mediaurl=https%3a%2f%2fth.bing.com%2fth%2fid%2fR.0caaaf44d49d4a33c39372cbc1975f60%3frik%3dxf51D0Ht37y3QA%26riu%3dhttp%3a%2f%2fphotos.wikimapia.org%2fp%2f00%2f03%2f96%2f89%2f69_big.jpg%26ehk%3dvdoYQqK5TiASnf0nNAEwwI1N%2bvGV6DCx%2bM4V4YOGET0%3d%26risl%3d%26pid%3dImgRaw%26r%3d0%26sres%3d1%26sresct%3d1%26srh%3d799%26srw%3d1204&exph=401&expw=604&q=Anderson+Air+Force+Base+GUam&simid=608017080034926908&FORM=IRPRST&ck=03C5E9D9CC4FEE486FD6611242EC9A84&selectedIndex=17&ajaxhist=0&ajaxserp=0 I think its great. All airfields have some amount of uneven flatness. I disliked total flatness of DC fields, and in other flight sims across nearly 30 years of flight simming since I was early teen. I've landed DCS: A-10C, A-10CII, F-15C, SU-27, Mig-29, Mig-21, SU-25/T, Mirage2000C, Hornet, and helicopters in day and night from both seaside and land side. Easy runways to land on. Very long. You can hang in GE and allow gear to rest on its own, then let aircraft run with minimal braking. Runways on Guam were made to take max grossweight T/O and landings, with emergencies, of largest types of a/c in US and allied forces. C-5A/M, C-17, B-2A, B-1B, B-52A/B/C/D/E/F/G/H, KC-135, KC-30, VC-25(AF1), 747 Doomsday , SR-71. F-16 , F-15C/E, F-22A, and F-35A squadrons and wings demonstrated elephant walks. Mass emergency takeoff . 3 or 4 aircraft a breast scrambling on the ultrawide runway. Although not done in DCS, inRL, USAF cadets demonstrated landing the soar glider on width of runway or slight angle off. Guam AAFB is gigantic and its runways are loooonnnngggggggg. Now other runways on Tinian and Saipan, are short, and require handling in fast jet. But my favorite is Harrier so , few worries. Hornet can come in at 135 knots IAS, A-10C at 115-120 with t/d at 110. But with Mirage and Mig-21bis, without drogues is more problematic. I got Mig-21bis in 2014 and its still the most challenging to land safely. With or without drogue. Both like to keep their nose up, while aerobraking. I have had Mig-21 and Mirage overrun Tinian and Saipan runways. If I made approach errors and came in at 150-180 knots IAS at T/D.
