Dude! Its a hobby, not a job or lifestyle. I report my experience. Then I try to work through it. If I can't solve it, then I post. From experience. If problem occurs to others, someone may post a solution. Of not. Then I post. Its not a bug, and I said so. Its weird power issue, that I am experiencing.

OK. Perhaps the Nile delta terrain will make this map more interesting. I haven't checked lately, does ED still forbid placing naval units on rivers. THey allow LARC to cross rivers. Perhaps riverine units will be part of DCS soon.

I am very happy with MI-24P FPS and overall performance in Cypress with Syria map. 120-150FPS 2560X1440 @144hz refresh. Its the simulated engine that is weird in Cypress. I get low power and generator fail, and resulting inability of Hind to fly. It can't hover, and takes off only at 50 kph or greater. I thought that my start manual start up was faulty. But I get power issue that with empty helicopter 50% fuel and auto start cheat. Thank you

I doubt we are gonna get a map of what is almost entire natin of Egypt. It'll be Sinai penninsula with Red Sea and Gulf of Aqaba. May some edge of map territory of Jordan and Saudi Arabia. In short. sand, hills, and sparce coastlines. Doubtfull we will see Nile delta, as that gas to include cities of Alexandria and parts of Cairo. Huge amount urban data. A riverine delta environment would be a new type of spectrum of warfare in DCS. Developers love deserts becouse all they need is elevation data from radar ground mapping satelites. From that they get elevation and texture maps. That can be mixed with some procedural shaders. The scatter some sparce shrubs, and model the roads. But Nile river delta is highly densely populated urbanized terrain mixed with agricultural, and industrial aeas.

The problem with a lot of places where conflict occurs. With some exceptions . Is that those places are not worth fighting over! A patch of sand is worthless, unless it is sitting on top of huge oil or gas deposit. Sinai is valuable for Suez Canal. Which is worth fighting for. Straits of Malacca is worth fighting for. But mine is an American world view.

Is Enguri Dam a destroyable map object?
DmitriKozlowsky replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in DCS: Caucasus
I admit its a dark perversion to savor ability to destroy a dam in game. As long as thats where it ends. Maybe its best not to have be destroyable. -
That dam keeps absorbing 2000lb LGB and cruise missiles, and refuses to breech. I wonder if Enguri Dam a destroyable map object? Did ED make a water breach effect for such an occasion?

Well again. I am arguing that the way that variants of a type available as a module, be offered not as separate modules, but as expansion packs to existing module. So a Mirage2000-5 would be offered as expansion to Mirage2000-C. MirageIII is a very different type then M2K_C, thus that would be a separate module. Westland Apache should not be a separate module, but an expansion pack to AH-64D. F-15E from RAZBAM. Thus F-15SG the E variant for Singapore, F-15EK (South Korean), Baz (F-15E for Israel), are expansion packs for F-15E.

Please, no more sand boxes. Yes, I gather those maps are from real world simulation projects for government and organizations, that are downgraded for civilian use. There's gotta be other more interesting locales, like Aegean. A potential hot spot conflict , not directly involving West, but India and China over Sri Lanka. Straits of Malacca . Awesome we are getting Falklands and Kola, which are mountains and cold weather. Do North-Central Europe and region of Baltic. A modern re-run of War Of Pacific (Chile-Bolivia-Peru). Perhaps an urban heavy terrain. North Sea and Denmark Straits. Kuril Islands (RUssia and Japan), Bering Strait (Russia and USA+Canada+NATO), Iceland, Panama Canal, Bering Strait, Equatorial Africa, Southern Africa Now we are getting Sinai. Hooray. Another sandbox with a coastline. What ever area is chosen, please let it not be another desert.

Turbo boost is ON so CPU does ramp up to near 4.0ghz under CPU load. But that happens with commercial renderers, like RenderMan, Arnold, Vray, Redshift. With or without GPU mode. DCS loads up single thread and stresses GPU. Well it stressed RTX 2060Super. With PNY 3060Ti GPU utlilization is 78-87% with occasional spikes above 90. ETH miner, on other hand uses 98%-100% of GPU. Miner is disabled when DCS is running. I verify that on every DCS session. 60FPS even with syncON is not as smooth as 120FPS I am used to on my rig. Call me spoiled.

Don't know why. I can no longer use rockets in COOP mode. With ACQ in TADS or FXD, I am no longer able able to switch to COOP mode on rockets. I can COOP on gun , but no longer on rockets. ED, IMHO, has bolloxed up fire control. Its just effed up six ways to sunday. I got safing that goes ARMED and SAFE by itself. That is by GeorgeAI. Overiding my commands. So I want to use rockets, but cant, fire control will no longer switch to ROCKETS COOP. G*d I hope this is not going top tuirn into waste of time and money. Really terrible play experience. I'll try with AI OFF. But right now this just sucks!

Many of those 'professional' designed missions with extensive LUA scripting, have 'popup' threats. They popup at worst times at worst places. Choice is engage, mask, or separate.
-
"Don't rush him". That is not compatible with with modern combat even on DCS's reduced level. GeorgeAI "Engaging" or "Firing" cannon, with cross on target, video is TADS with ZSU-23-4 traversing to you, and 3 seconds later he is still not firing. That's is a problem. Being a flying stable rock, as pre-requisite for AI to rounds out, is non-workable requirement.

When I allow it to mine ETH, that 3060Ti GPU usage jumps to 98-100%, and stays there with temp stable at 66C. The 2060Super was averaging 73-75C temp. Lights on 3060Ti are nice purple blue. No strobing red to indicate power issues. Seems system and GPU are OK with each other. I would not be surprised if, in fact, my CPU or ECC 2666 DDR4 ram (4X16gb) are bottlenecking GPU. The MB slot is the correct widest where GPU is plugged into. All power cabling seems OK. Game engine stress tests, no problems, knock on wood. Maxon Cinema Bench ran OK. Vray GPU test ran OK. 3DCoat is running pretty. In hindsight, I think that maybe that RTX2060Super was as fast as 3D would get on this particular rig. HP Z wkstations are renown for build quality and long operating life. Not for their OC abilities.

Thats native rez of my panel. QHD. 2560X1440 @ 144Hz refresh rate on Asus gaming monitor. I benchmarked my system with Unigine game engine. 2560X1440 High textures, high shaders. 98-120 FPS. Medium shaders, medium textures. 128-135 FPS consistent. I could not see any appreciable difference between medium and high setting for shaders and textures. Now when I benched with 2560X1440 Extreme, went down from 48to 62 FPS. Which is OK, but is overkill with DOF and motion blur. Great for DCC with GPU renderer like Redshift or Vray, but non needed for gaming. 4K bench with medium shaders and textures held up with 74-90FPS consistent. Which is great, but I have no plans for panel upgrade.

Harrier, Mirage, Hornet, Gazelle, UH-1H, BS2, all perform great. My take is that Apache is not optimized yet. Mirage and Harrier are my fastest modules, triple digit FPS 95% of time. In Apache, external view is 120-132 FPS on a given mission. FPS from pilot's seat 60-72 FPS . Slightly slower or slightly faster from CP/G. But I play Apache as pilot. Worst map is Syria, with Cyprus area being slowest. Fastest is Nevada. Georgia is 2nd slowest. English Chanel with winter textures is best performing with , after Nevada, with Apache.

Could not agree more. GeorgeAI is a elfing more-on! Single player is just as frustrating. GeoAI either does not find targets, takes forever to find any target, finds any target except the one in front , claims to be firing or engaging without doing so. George also fires without consent. George overides weapons safety. That is a new issue, and one that I find unacceptable. In short GeorgeAI is retreat-ard. Overall I kind of regret getting into AH-64D this early. It flies weird, it has uncommanded left rolls above 124 KIAS, left roll dips that require significant opposite roll correction, extremely sensitive pedal work, IHAADS boresight that does not stay bore sighted resulting in odd highly inaccurate IR overlay. To top it off, AH-64D is lowest performing of my modules, with lowest FPS, especially in piliot's seat view. I am not getting any more early access modules. Not worth the aggravation. DCS is a hobby not a job, not a lifestyle. UH-1H is the only module , I have, where AI crew behave as they should.

Performance compared to other DCS modules
DmitriKozlowsky replied to mikek1358's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Unfortunately, on my rig, AH-64D has slowest performance of all modules fixed wing or rotary. With given graphics settings being HP Z440 Xeon E5-1630v4 3.7-4.0 Ghz, 64gb ram ECC 2666 , PNY RTX 3060ti XLR8 LHR, SSD. 2560X1440 @144Hz Just noticed new setting 'Secondary shadows'. Not certain how it effects performance. Average FPS is above 48 FPS from pilot cockpit, at times climbing above 90, but sometimes dropping to 37 . Slowest map is Syria. Fastest is PG, then Nevada. FPS climbs by 30% for external views of AH-64D. CPG seat is slightly slower then pilot. On same mission with same settings. Gazelle is 120 FPS avg. Mirage2000-C 120-140, AV-8B 90-120, UH-1H 125 FPS, F/A-18C 75-95 FPS. Overall Mirage and Harrier are fastest performing modules , on my system. DCS settings attached -
Yeah, I saw that movie. Bag kicked Nicholas Cage's butt . Thankfully a senior VW4 Tommy Lee Jones rescued him.
