  1. DCS AH-64D Quick Start Manual , Page 348 (see Note below) The most recent TSD point selected as an acquisition source drives the constraints box (point number shown above bezel button B5 after selecting the ACQ expanded menu on the WPN or TSD page) If no point has been selected as an acquisition source yet in the flight, the text above B5 within the ACQ menu will display “?00” in white at Page 103/4 Acquisition Source (ACQ). Indicates the currently selected acquisition source. Acquisition sources include: a. PHS – Pilot Helmet Sight b. GHS – Gunner Helmet Sight c. SKR – Tracking missile seeker d. RFI – Radio Frequency Interferometer e. FCR – Fire Control Radar f. FXD – Fixed forward (0° in azimuth/-4.9° in elevation) g. W##, H##, C##, T## – (## is the number of the stored Waypoint, Hazard, Control Measure or Target/Threat) h. TRN – Cursor-selected terrain location on the TSD There is a YT video that explains this a bit "DCS AH-64D: Acquisition Sources explained" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hU1fiDnVQL4&t=304s Note: Latest manual is updated by DCS with patches and is on your computer at /Eagle Dynamics/DCS World OpenBeta/Mods/aircraft/AH-64D/Doc/ . The manual on the DCS Web site was (when I last looked) out of date
  2. Versus is a good site for these sort of comparisons. I punched in the components you listed Intel Core i5-12400F vs Intel Core i9-9900K: https://versus.com/en/intel-core-i5-12400f-vs-intel-core-i9-9900k And GPU comparison: https://gpucomparison.org/compare/asus-tuf-gaming-geforce-rtx-3060-ti-oc/asus-tuf-gaming-geforce-rtx-3060-oc-edition/ The RAM isn't specified in your list. For the RAM you mostly want a high clock speed and to a lesser extent low latency. For example 3600MHZ (clock speed) and CL16 (or CL18) latency . Latency is typically reported in spec sheet like "Tested Latency 16-19-19-39".
  3. Well that is good news. Thanks for posting your update.
  4. We damn that is no good at all. I don't think I can help you any further. So sorry. Your crash report says that you have a problem with d3d11.dll an ACCESS_VIOLATION I would have expected scannow would have fixed that but it did not. I suggest you log a fault with DCS user support. DCS support can be very helpful. You can do that here https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/ Again, my apologies that I cannot do more for you.
  5. Me too.... but.... it is indeed tempting !!!
  6. OK so what we know is: DCS crashes. You have no mods installed. You use OpenXR Other games work OK and dont crash You uninstalled Open XR, then repaired DCS, then ran DCS. DCS still crashes So, When you repaired DCS did you follow all these : https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/repair/ instructions ? What exactly happens when DCS crashes? Do you get any error message? Can you inspect and repair important Windows files on your computer using scannow? To use scannow, follow the DCS instruction https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/faq/startup/ which is repeated here: How to use sfc /scannow - it will inspect and repair all of the important Windows files on your computer, including Windows DLL files. a) open Command Prompt as an administrator b) type the following command: sfc /scannow and then press Enter c) system File Checker will now verify the integrity of every protected operating system file on your computer
  7. I dont understand what your reply "no chance" means. 1/ did you uninstall open xr ?... yes or no 2/ did you then run repair of dcs ? yes or no 3/ when you run dcs now does it crash? Or are you saying you do you not want to uninstall open xr etc?
  8. So very unlikely its Nvidia GPU drivers or a hardware seating (meaning a not properly connected or plugged in problem such as ram needing to be re-seated) So suggest: 1/ uninstall openxr. Restart the PC. 2/ do a full repair of DCS and test it without open xr. If its ok then 3/ install a fresh copy of Open XR stuff and then test it again
  9. Are you saying that other games, that do not use open xr, crash sometimes too? sorry i do not know about w11 and VR
  10. Some find ddu hard to use. Maybe try this instead... Nvidia offers an easy way to perform a clean installation of your drivers now ...... see here for a good write up of how to do that... https://www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/help/connectivity-and-performance/article/clean-installation-of-nvidia-drivers/000063728?isSso=true&refreshStatus=noLoginData
  11. Does the problem happen in other games or only DCS? if other games too, Did you make any changes to the PC just before the problem occurred... like adding another application, or maybe moving the PC to a different location, adding or changing a part like ram or a daughter board? If no software changes, I would power off PC, remove and reseat RAM, remove and replug GPU, unplug and replug the leads to your GPU. Power on and try again. Failing that, and failing doing as suggested by @dburne ie :first do a full repair of DCS and test it before installing the Open XR stuff and then test it again then it may be a GPU driver problem ( your getting D3DDRED2 errors in dxdiag) so using DDU to remove the existing GPU drivers, then getting the latest drivers off NVIDIA site might be the go. DDU is here https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
  12. Yes its a shame. VKB certainly got put back with staffing loss and I feel sorry for them (and anyone in the same state) for that. I suspect they genuinely were gearing up for a terrific product and its release...but their plans have gone awry. But VKB, (like others in this industry, and even some in the supporting YT community), do themselves zero favours with their sharp, condescending and plain smart arse replies to genuine enquiries. A bit of candid, and polite, explanatory communication would go a long way and probably garner better support and understanding.
  13. @104th_Money As I understand it the classic recovery is to lower the collective, cyclic in a direction usually pitching forward, gain air speed, this sheds the rotor tip vortices but at a loss of altitude. The Vuichard Recovery differs from the classic technique, and somewhat from the technique you describe. Claude Vichard says "you immediately pull up the collective to provide maximum available power, apply counter torque with the pedal (left pedal in Apache) to maintain your heading, and push the cyclic in the opposite direction (right for Apache) for a 15- to 20-degree bank." (For a counter-clockwise main rotor system, you should bank to the right; while a clockwise-turning main rotor system requires a left bank to exit) The average height loss during the recovery procedure is 20 to 50 feet, depending on the duration of the maneuver. Cool eh? This is a really excellent article in which Vuichard and former Robinson chief flight instructor Tim Tucker tell how they brought the Vuichard Recovery technique to the world : Claude Vuichard & Tim Tucker tell the story behind the Vuichard Technique https://verticalmag.com/features/claude-vuichard-tim-tucker-tell-the-story-behind-the-vuichard-technique/ Tim Tucker has a video from a presentation at RotorTech Australia 2018, held on the Sunshine Coast (that @Volk. linked in his YT video) that explains it too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euHFD
  14. Well that will do the job ! Should make it much better. Looking forward to hearing how you get on with it.
  15. Really! Thank you for posting that
  16. Seems they have something in mind... though the teaser ain't really full of detail : https://forum.virpil.com/index.php?/topic/11807-welcome-to-the-pilots-seat-virpil-controls-teaser/ .... guess thats why they call it a teaser. I wish they would fix or redesign their collective. The dcs thread 'Virpil collective base plus - had to increase friction after 2 weeks use' has been helpful. There are solutions using counter weights or motor cycle steering dampers that one can buy elsewhere and retrofit. So there is that.
  17. Well damn, that's very good of you. Thank you.
  18. Good to read your post. I had a warthog for over 6 years and it worked well the entire time. I know that lots of folk reported stiction problems so I may have been lucky with my Warthog. There are a few awful photos on the net of the Virpil with hot glue excessively used but these are really quite out of date now. There was discussion on this forum back in 2018 https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/39048-vkb-still/?do=findComment&comment=666552 I found it worthwhile to take a look at TheNOOBIFIER1337 channel on YouTube. He did a few teardown videos in 2019 (search for the term 'exposed' on his channel) Its pretty clear that even back then Virpil build quality was improving at a pace. The most recent in his exposed series was April 2019 and might be worth a quick look here https://youtu.be/K0HY9UJ8ZCE?t=76 as he comments about the improvement in manufacture standards back then. He has done other YT vids on Virpil products but I did not find any more recent teardown (exposed) videos. The VKB Gunfighter Mk.III Modern Combat Edition Ultimate which I own now, is, as would be expected, a vast improvement on the Warthog. That said I have no personal experience with Virpil sticks. But the Virpil CM3 Throttle I have is seriously excellent in terms of build, quality software and support. Even their forum is helpful. I think you would not be disappointed with VKB's Gunfighter or one of Virpil's Flightsticks. I have quite big hands and the GF is comfortable for me. Yes, not so good.... VKBDevCfg (0.92.33) is still unsigned.
  19. That fella is now selling a version with the counter weight included...so thats easy. sorry I cannot include the link here cause i get a forbidden error... why ...who knows....but you can get to it from the link listed previous in this thread.
  20. Thanks for posting that. Looks good. What mount dd you use for the stick?
  21. I came across this video "AH 64D Vortex Ring State (VRS) & recovery techniques" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I7PZAAiMhM from @Volk. He suggests method to recover (Vuichard Recovery) when you have very little altitude to work with.
  22. It makes me think, if Virpil have redesigned their flagship MongoosT-50 Base, with apparent emphasis on smooth movement, will there be a redesigned collective coming too. I think, especially when compared to the excellent quality T-50, that the collective's somewhat suboptimal friction axis is crying out for a redesign. Of course any collective is a less popular sim controller than a stick, so maybe it wont see a quality treatment for a while yet. Would be good if it did though.
  23. Sure do agree with that Absolutely. What I dislike now, especially given the obvious erratic behaviour of the Apache, is the condescending 'I ain't providing tips; your an idiot just practice' attitude prevalent on some dcs discords. The software has moved on since release and out of date, 3 and 4 month old YT vids don't cut it. I do hope ED does not move onto the next module and the FM we have is the end state.
