As for the question itself, I've never had the CCC installed on my PC, I'm using ATT exclusively. I guess there is no right or wrong way about it, just personal preference, and for me, ATT is all I need.

A screenshot would be helpful to diagnose your problem, I think. Also, the *.exe file for DCS:A-10 is dcs.exe, not simulator.exe (BS, FC2). What are the settings in your profile? Maybe they are at odds with the settings in the game, so that in the end no antialiasing is applied.

Won't help much either .... I would recommend a complete overhaul of the system. Can't afford it? Save your pennies until you can, half-measures from where you are at the moment are not advisable imo. However, if you absolutely must upgrade now I'd say get a new CPU. Of course, this also means a new motherboard, unless you want to stay with your current platform (AM2+, AM3?).

Just did a start with argon patriot - right in the starting sector there is a ship named "Exterminator" hanging around - comm him and this will kick off the "Operation Final Fury" plot (destroying the Khaak). I was also immeditately contacted by some guy to do an escort mission for him - this looked like another starting point for a plot.

There is no plot per se, you just receive a message to investigate a certain sector and that is pretty much it - I got the message a couple of minutes after I started the game, maybe you overlooked it?

AFAIK the steam version is already patched to 1.02, there is no need to install this patch. I'd say just delete the game and re-download it from steam.

Rightclick trayicon - Game Profiles - Manage Profiles. Here's what mine looks like: If you like to have vsync enabled (I don't), you can also force triple buffering: Remember though, that you cannot start the game via profile, but have to use the desktop shortcut for that. This is also the case for Black Shark and Flaming Cliffs 2. As long as there is a profile and provided that it is pointing to the correct *.exe file (the simulation itself, not the launcher) the settings will be applied regardless.

You can still make a profile in ATT and the settings will be applied to the game even if you don't start the game via this profile.

You know that Sandybridge has a dual-channel memory interface, right? You need either 2 or 4 DIMMs to take advantage of that, I would suggest either 2x4GB or 4x4GB.

The pot of my ministick was flakey, it would always start to drift without any input from me. So I got in contact with TM tech support and ordered a new one.
