  1. I would pay more! A-10 is worth much more then asking price...

    The Cube

And I'm projecting on 5 of them!

    The Cube

Well, I rebuilt the structure ... Full box with a door. Now I'm mounting the projectors and taking my time to get everything straight. Lastly , adding a 5th projector for the aft view... Full 360 degree view with top. Hopefully will have it ready next week sometime, then some videos will follow. On the pit... I'm torn on a triple touch setup for the pit (umc), or a dedicated pit... Just so many aircraft coming out!
  4. Cool, moving so you can have room for the cube!
  5. yes, a 5870x6 2 gb
  6. I bought a 4gb 670 and saw a huge increase running 4 projectors and 1 touch. I can even add a 5th projector now for the aft view in the cube and run 25+ fps... 7680x800. I've seen 2.5-2.7 in mem use, so the 4gb is coming in handy!
  7. No, I'm sure he is on a low altitude military airway.... that is why he is looking at the map!

    The Cube

it's doable, but the cube is much easier for home use... no blending required and can achieve full 360 degree view without rear projecting.

Also, I built a new system to see if it would help performance... I5-3570K 16 gig mem gtx670 4gb ssd I can run high settings in DCS now with 4 viewports plus helios gui 40+ fps... 6400x800 Now, I tested above plus back view (6th view port-- 7680x800) and was getting 25+ smooth in the take-off training mission and generated combat mission. I believe at this point a full 360 degree view is possible with the correct setup.

Hey Peter, I was playing with this file trying to use the back left and right views... could not get them to work in the monitor setup file for some reason, Also, maybe a setup file for 7680x800 with added back view!
  11. Great job on the gear panel!
  12. Well, I'm waiting for my cnc parts to arrive so I can cut seats again... I use to sell a lot of Aces II seats and designed the one Metalwood has. My A-10 seat plans are built from birch and .25 mdf. I'm not going into full business, but can cut a few kits here and there. I'm also in the process of designing a smaller A-10 structure.
  13. Not much you can do! The more camera's you use ... the more performance you will lose. All you can do is turn down graphic settings. Now most use one camera with 3 screens, but you will get some stretching.

    Flim's Pit

Hey ya, This is my pit progress page and will be updated as I go... My goal initially was to build a full working A-10 simulator with 5 projectors, but as I the jumped into kickstarter last year with the Oculus rift my plans have changed. After receiving my rift development kit, I realized that even a 5 projector setup could not match the immersion of sitting in full 3d cockpit with 1:1 head-tracking. After testing for a couple months, I now realize the full potential this will bring to simulation and even military training. The rift will enable a low cost fully immersive training for many applications, and so my decision is to build and provide seat and control mount options for simulation and training applications. My setup for the A-10 will consist of the Aces II ejection seat, VRpit center Warthog mod, throttle mount, and mouse keyboard platform on the right side. Also there is rudder floor to mount the pedals and center stick. Later we will add seat feedback shoulder harness that reacts to in game aircraft g-forces. My plan is to develop different seats for my favorite DCS aircraft such as the F-18,f-35, and helicopters. If you are interested in plans or kits, please see our for sell section of the forums. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=108766 A-10 VRPIT

    The Cube

    This works great btw....
  16. I think if you put them on ebay, then you will have a better chance of selling them in the western world... Looks nice btw!
  17. Anton, do a second engraving at lower power and it will be crystal clear.
  18. It's a special acrylic watery adhesive we use...

    The Cube

Hey Peter... this decreases frames by 12-15, doesn't make much difference in the visual anyhow. Do need the correct zoom for start though, always have to adjust it.

    The Cube

Good post Gadroc, and exactly what I would of said myself. Is it worth the trouble and money? If you want the most complete sim experience available at home... yes IMHO When my setup consisted of a single large screen and trackir, I use to fly the P51 vs P51 quick dogfight mission quite often. Most of the time I would lose position of the bogey aircraft and would hit the ground or get shot down. Last night I flew the dogfight in the cube for the first time and we were in a vertical fight for 10 min until the opponent lost situational awareness and slammed into the ground. It's the first time I've seen the opposing P51 hit the ground! I never lost sight of him in the fight, and was the most fun I have had in any simulation!
  21. Very nice, going to be a fun with a cube setup...lol

    The Cube

Well, it might be something to test... it depends how big you want the visual to be... I might do some research on the subject-

    The Cube

Yes, I'm going to build a full A-10 pit like Gadroc which is a little off the ground which means I will build a new cube frame so my eye point will be correct.

    The Cube

No visual issue imho... you have to realize that a transition of 90 degress is happening and if your not in the center of the cube, it will look funny.

You can make the pit work if you make it shorter for 777. My initial frame was a test and it works, but I decided that a full pit is my goal (with canopy frame) so I will build another frame. I'm trying to build the new one lighter and with less material.
