  1. Jr is right... your really wasting your time unless you can spec out each panel with the switch you will use.
  2. I would say red is the most common color for fire indications...

    Flim's Pit

Okay, I need to start updating this thread... I have made pretty good progress on my seat and it came out really nice. It still needs the seatpan, limit switches, and arming/emer levers. Lastly it will be painted when most of the pit is finished. Next I will start on the front console which will consist a 27 inch lcd for most of the gauges. I'll post more soon!
  7. I agree with Gadroc... Between him and I over the past few years, we have learned this from experience. Trying to pay for the machines and keep others pleased is really tough with this crowd! I would love to see cheap panels and structures, but cheap is going to be around a min $6000+ for a good quality wood pit with panels and electronics. I would say a 10,000 budget is pretty realistic if you buy all of your parts ready to go...
  8. I guess my question is how cheap is cheap?... The plastic is pretty low cost, but time, painting, engraving, cost of switches ...adds up quickly. I glad someone is taking on the task though.
  9. Ya, your front panel looks a little like my new pit and seat... Not posted yet... Looks good
  10. What are you using for backlighting? Did you make a PCB for each panel?
  11. looks good
  12. Na, he is trying to draw his own version... few of us have 3d printers.
  13. Felt like plastic to me...
  14. I wouldn't mind having a 3d printed version.. it would be lighter
  15. Here is the future!!! lol
  16. Yep... I hear the military is also jumping in head first as well !
  17. I've been playing around with the Rift more... added track IR and got the view matched pretty well. The res is low, but you really feel like your in the plane. I can't wait for a high res screen, because this will be the only way to fly the virtual skies.
  18. I've got one right here... if Matt wanted it--- here you go! I'll be happy to hand it over if they would work on integration... most of the big Developers are still waiting to get this thing!
  19. Well, I wish it worked that way.... but it doesn't. I was a tester like you for a while, and offered to do it again for the rift. Really, it is all software on ED side and it would only benefit them to work on this, but if they don't... it's the way the cookie crumbles. Only reason I'm pushing this is because I love this sim and only want DCS to succeed. I have always thought an HMD of high quality would be most immersive option in home simulation.
  20. ya, you can go to : https://developer.oculusvr.com/ sign up and download there SDK, but no free kits... man, you want something for nothing ! lol I did manage to get 2 viewports sbs working, but not in 3d. It took me a while to get SBS blended in for my eyes. It works great, but without 1:1 headtracking, it will mess up your senses and feel unnatural. Resolution is low for DCS though... you really can't read the MFD's or HUD unless you zoom in, but it still gives you in total in cockpit experience unlike anything else. It's like being in a personal 360 degree dome, like BH was trying to build... you get that kind of feeling.
  21. I wouldn't count on it...
  22. I got the 2 images pretty lined up ( in my Rift) for my eye's where I'm not cross-eyed, but with no head tracking... it will mess up your senses. Can't wait to get this working correctly with full head tracking! Keep posting in this thread for support... without voices it will not happen!
  23. or make you puke, but hey... that's what we want!
  24. No, not entitled to the consumer... There might be a second developer kit towards the end of the year with a 1080p screen.
