Operation Snowfox - Persian Gulf PvE Playground

Version 106 is up to fix the datalink. Be advised if you are in the F-14B and selecting a host for the data link you need to choose Overlord as the host. Changelog v106 - Fixed datalink -
If I have 2 AWACS planes of E-3A type, and one is activated and the other is late activated but not yet triggered, both are selectable as a host for data link from the F-14B.

Operation Clear Field - Caucasus PvE Playground

- Datalink ... yeah looks like something has gone horribly wrong. Will fix as soon as I can. - Do you remember your position on the map when this happened? I am guessing at this point you had not crossed the borderline into 'red' airspace hence they didn't engage you. - Hornet fuel tankers? I'm not sure what you mean by that sorry. I am guessing you mean Tanker Texaco? Did tanker Texaco not turn up for you? -

Caucasus is now live: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4015091 -
Operation Clear Field is an open-world PvE playground for the Caucasus map. It is loosely based on the Russo-Georgian war of 2008. This mission uses the same mechanics that Operation Snowfox uses for the Persian Gulf map. The mission will randomly choose targets throughout the map. You can fly any role you like, and if you are on your own, you can use the radio menu to request support flights of AI planes to assist you. Most modules have been included. You will be flying against the Russians. The mission utilizes Moose functions and custom scripts which have been included in the mission file. Check the mission briefing for AWACS/Carrier Group/Refuelling frequencies etc. Notes on requesting support flights: - CAP/CAS/Anti-Shipping/SEAD and Pinpoint Strikes are available to call in, you can choose the sector they will fly to - Only one flight of each type can be active at any given time, so choose carefully - AI flights will start near Khasab airfield and will await a "Push" command via radio when you are ready for them to proceed with an attack - Pinpoint Strikes will only target specific structures in their target area, if the current target is not a building they will not target anything Other radio options - Check Current Objective will remind you what the current target is - Target Report will give you coordinates and distance to the target, and if the target is a group it will tell you how many units are remaining in the group - Abort Directives will allow you to send support flights back to base As it is based loosely on the Russo-Georgian war in 2008, expect to be flying into the Abkhazia and South Ossetia regions. Due to the West coast not having enough ports for a docks attack, Sochi is also a sector so I could put some things in a port. It is a long way to fly and I will probably have to adjust a few things but that's how it goes. This is a bit of a live test for version 1. Ok good luck Download: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3306039/

Operation Snowfox - Persian Gulf PvE Playground

Originally it was like that, except I saw too many instances where the AI would drive off the taxiway and get stuck and not take off when flying from Khasab. Also waiting for the AI to take off in front of you at Khasab is also super annoying. That is why it is the way it is. Red aircraft take off from the ground, blue aircraft start in the air. Compromises. -

Snowfoxers! Version 105 is now up. Changelog v105 - AWACS/Texaco/Shell will now orbit for 4 hours and then return to base. Once they do that they will utilize technology stolen from Area 51 and will respawn. Magic! - Carrier Group has had extra waypoints added to allow for longer mission running times - Bullseye reference added to mission briefing, and since we DCS pilots don't look at briefings, the Operation Snowfox Bullseye reference is at Shahid Bahonar Port near Havadarya - Various adjustments to Iranian/Russian units just for consistency - F/A-18C radio frequencies dialed in as follows: Comm 1 - Ch1: AWACS Ch2: Stennis Ch3: Texaco Ch4: Shell Comm 2 - Ch1: Stennis Ch2: AWACS Ch3: Texaco Ch4: Shell - F-14B radio frequencies dialed in as follows: VHF - Ch1: AWACS Ch2: Stennis Ch3: Texaco Ch4: Shell Disclaimer: If you run this mission on servers for longer than 5-6 hours and run into weird issues (such as planes exploding when the server has been running the mission longer than 10 hours straight, it's probably aliens causing it. I never get to test this for more than an hour or two at a time and it was never originally designed to push those kind of limits. I had about 4 hours in mind at the drawing board. -

It's getting close to completion, I've jammed in all the changes that I've been adding into Snowfox, just need to give it a solid test out post additions to make sure everything is behaving :pilotfly: If everything checks out it should be out before the weekend. -

No of course not. There are 100 missions in the current build. You are not supposed to finish all of them in one attempt. -

Tankers and AWACS are out of fuel. I would suggest restarting the mission after about 4-5 hours to avoid things like this. -

New version is up: Changelog v104 - AI Support Flights can now be told to abort their missions and return to base via the radio menu under 'Abort Directives' - Khasab F-16 Defenders will now be silent on radio so we don't get spammed with 'pushing from waypoint 0' etc. -

Sorry brother, I can't replicate this. I flew a bunch of take offs and landings at Khasab and also taking off from Ras and landing at Khasab and this doesn't happen for me. -

The EWR radars are set to immortal/invisible so they don't get destroyed (which would break the way that the AI A2A Dispatcher works). That is only for EWR radars, SAM sites are all standard stuff, like being on alert and weapons free, and they are set to engage air weapons if they can. I will take a look at whether I can extend the CAP engagement zones without completely breaking things. -

Do you mean the auto-spawned CAP planes around Khasab or the CAP flights from the radio call in? They operate very differently. The CAP planes from radio call in will search and engage in the zone that you are sending them into once the push command gets sent. They will defend themselves along the way. The auto-spawned F-16's only protect a small zone around the Khasab airbase and use Moose AI A2A dispatcher. Air defences will attempt to shoot down incoming air to surface missiles. Because of this, it may take a couple of attempts to break into the Havadarya/Bandar Abbas areas. If you are having trouble with that zone, I recommend calling in absolutely everything into that zone at the same time, plus flying in it yourself as a distraction. With the addition of the anti-shipping planes, you should be able to break down most of the defences in one or two waves. With my not so great coding skills i'm having some trouble working out the best way to get the planes to immediately RTB on a radio call. As soon as I work that out I will add it. Meanwhile, I've decided not to go down the Moose Airboss path. I'm just going to wait for the Supercarrier module. During the week I will hopefully find a solution to my RTB problems ... I don't want to just 'delete' them out of the air mid-mission. I could add in a 'skip mission' function if you think that would be helpful. I am very happy you are enjoying it! -

Version 103 is now up, which should be it for a while. - Anti-Shipping Strikes have been added, Viggens only at this point due to some issues with AI using Harpoons. - Adjustments to AI flight paths so they don't 'over fly' the target as much - Fixed Radio Menus -
Fair deal Grimes, will do

[REPORTED] AI ignores tasks?
Surrexen replied to Reflected's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
I've had some interesting things happen lately with Pinpoint Strike groups using F-117's and Tornado GR4's where if the unit has RTB on Bingo Fuel as part of their tasking options, they will do their bombing task and then stop following the flight plan. Maybe try removing RTB on Bingo Fuel and see if things go back to normal? -
Is this also related to this thread? https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=219083 I suspect it might be.

Aren't you supposed to get about 25 knots of wind total over the deck? I usually point the carrier into the wind and calculate the boat speed plus wind speed so it equals 25 knots and it works well.
-
I've just tested this a few times and it looks like if I have some AI Hornets launching Harpoons the missiles head towards the target and fall just short of the target, landing in the water about 10-20m short. Can someone confirm this? Edit: Track attached AI Harpoons.trk

Ok so version 102 is now up. I found a big problem with the pinpoint strike missions where after their bomb run the planes would totally forget their flight plan and crash into the ground. This has been corrected. Larak Island has been added as a sector for AI support call-ins. Anti-Shipping strikes will be next. -

You don't need to add anything. I will look into adding the Airboss in a later version when I can test it properly. I'd suggest using the 'real' version. -

Some good feedback here guys thanks! I will see what I can do about adding target elevation data to the target report. I will also see what I can do about moving the A-10's to Khasab. I will remove the centreline fuel tank from the F-15's loadout. Yes I'm aware the AI flights are not Top Gun graduates. They seem to do fine under most circumstances, but when being sent into Havadarya/Bandar Abbas they do struggle a bit. That said I've had times where they do manage to knock out the SAM radars and open up those sectors ... sometimes it takes them a couple of SEAD flights into those sectors to get the job done. Edit: Target Elevation has been added to the Target Report and will be in the next version
