known Glass cockpit layer doesn't enable to see anything outside
OLD CROW replied to OLD CROW's topic in Bugs and Problems
The third one is looking to 3 OC, not all them are looking to the rear. If I wanted a guess I would have written this post in complains or wherever, but I came specifically here just to get any kind of official explanation. Even that thanks anyway. -
known Glass cockpit layer doesn't enable to see anything outside
OLD CROW replied to OLD CROW's topic in Bugs and Problems
Could you tell me in which part of my initial post I've refered specifically only to the rear? Pictures show the rear, also the sides. This layer is anoying in 360 degrees, but in the rear part is even more noticiable, of course, due at the front you got a flat windshield. I'm talking all time to the visual layer they've implemented to create the sensation you're inside a cockpit covered by a piece of plexiglass: that one generates too much "inside light reflection shadows" or "too much view distortion" (using your words), even can block your visual at very short distances, even the weather is overcast (Pictures attached). This layer has been recently implemented with this point of non transparency, and now Mustang have same visual issues as Spitfire had in the past. Basically I don't need another more element to add to eliminate any possibility of seeing outside the A/C beyond the Propeller... or my next complain would be "why labels size are so small?" LODs of small size like WW2 Fighters in DCS can be anoying (if not impossible to find) for any kind of spotting beyond 1 mile away. I still remember when the only possibility to check your surrounding views was pressing any keybind and that possibility was even "more unnatural" than any Head track device, but this is not the point here. The point is we can't see an A380 at 1.5 miles away from my 3 to 9 OC cause a "lovely" distortion enables nothing more than its own reflection. -

???? You're mixing concepts. Watching properly outside the glass is not a question of using track ir or VR or your mouse as the head axis. -
Please, could you fade out a bit the glass cockpit layer?, cause it is almost impossible to see anything outside at normal visual zoom positions. I guess the levels of brightness of this layer are not subordinated to the amount and position of the light so, in most weather conditions it creates weird visual situations,.almost reduces your field of view with no reason. Full zoom in at less than 1 mile from the fires... the fog is inside the cockpit.

I know maybe this issue belongs to any other topic related to LOD or whatever but it's also a question of layers & textures.... This permanent (cause it doesn't change with the incident light) translucent layer that simulates the plexiglass bubble reduces a lot the spotting of anything (small fighters or large bombers) far away from 0.5 miles at some zoom out levels, even with the label dot setting enabled. Beyond 0.5 miles you have to zoom in a lot and it means loosing a lot of Situational Awareness. The problem goes worse cause this layer is always there and it seems its fade in/out is not linked to the incident light and the position & angle of the A/C respects with the light source position. In modern jet fighters this issue remains minimal cause jets are larger so their LOD is larger too so you can keep having a decent visual to boggeis inside 2-3 miles range, but in WW2 warbirds is critical if not the top 3 things you have to master to keep you alive: the visuals inside your surrounding 3-5 miles range (and everybody knows AI's got no issues in lock on you beyond any human visual range distance. Same issue was detected a few years ago in the Spitfire model and finally fixed it by fading this layer. I would appreciate from anyone to redirect this report to its correct topic in case this isn't the correct topic. Thanks for advance.

There's a visual missmatch between the DIF.dds layer genereated by the latest default template and the default NMp.dds layer installed in the game subfolder ..../TEXTURES/ P51D.zip. So when you use your custom skin done with the default template and the game loads your skin layers and its default NMp layer happens this: In the NMp layer the panels are slightly larger than in the newest template layers. Also the USAAF insignia is smaller than in the older template. I guess this visual missmatch doesn't happen in skins done with the older template cause panels sizes in the DIF layer and in the NMp layer properly match.

Even those eventualities.... the data, even poor, is better than ZERO.

Official historical version told us that from the ZEKE founded crash landed in the Aleutians (Akutan) in 1942 U.S.NAVY got the perfect testing model for deconstructing and finding the ZERO weaknesses and finish with its "invicivility" in the Pacific. If I were really "obsessed" in find any kind of flying data I would start from the opponent's archives: NAVY & NACA (actual NASA), at this point of the history surelly they got any kind of "declassified" public files related to flying data.

reported Carpet Bombing with B17's is ... functional?!
OLD CROW replied to VeeSPIKE's topic in Bugs and Problems
I've programmed them in a close bombing box and it seems that the carpet bombing with the B-17 is still been a bug. They reach the bombing point, do a weird dive turn and enter the objective from another heading and once they reach the dropping point only the leader (in a 4 element group) drop only one bomb but it's programmed in ALL. Basically the skin has been uploaded right, but I guess for any safety reason the its status is: non active and I could not change that parameter. Anyway... I'm going to give it 24 hours and I'll check it out...

I would like to share it, but I don't know the way to do it. In other forums I only add the direct link to my medifire, google drive site,... and people who are interested on it and click & download it directly from there. Here some of my first post had been modified by admins only cause I added text to the pictures like the Bureau number, so I'm afraid they would ban any suspicious post with any direct link attached in it. I will really appreciate if anyone can help me in that process, I got no problem in sharing that skin or anyone else I've painted. Thanks for advance.

Air to air refuelling for AI does never finish
OLD CROW replied to Hypersteff's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
Sorry then, I haven't found any similar topic related to that. Thanks anyway -
Single Player Mission, 4 elements squadron. Caucasus map. Custom Mission. As soon as we reach the tanker I go refueling first and I manually order wingman 2 to refuel on my side (3 and 4 mantain position behind us and tanker, as usual). Once me and wingman 2 finish refueling, go right, clear the incoming path to tanker and order to FLIGHT (wingman 2, 3 & 4, due there's no specific wingman 4 coms menu) go tanker, but I manually order to wingman2 to mantain formation with me, just to override the refueling order to him. Nº3 & 4 go refueling as usual but as soon as their pobes contact tanker baskets happens this: It shouldn't be an issue if it only were a visual missmatch IMAO, but AI detects probe and basket are linked, but the fuel transfer never starts, so they can stay there till they run out of fuel. This issue never happened to me, only to the ingame AI's and it's also random ( not 100% times I load this mission).... but enough usual to be reported. I also attach the mission file, if you want to try to recreate the issue. F-18C - Caucasus - Bugged AI.miz Thanks for advance, regards, Crow
