reported ACLS F18 CPL Autopilot not working as intended....my fault ?
OLD CROW replied to Darkenmass's topic in Bugs and Problems
Well.... it's only my guess but We all have came here with a similar issue, so I own a 6 years old PC with an intel I5 at 3.2 GHz CPU, so after several attempts to do Case III and 100% cases I finished in drinking the soap due a CPL couple/uncouple issues my guess is: Could it be related with CPU loggic processes bottle necks? I talk about CPU cause I got same issues when I call the ball with the Hornet and with the Tomcat in the Super Carrier and the LSO always say "Wave off" by omission I always call the ball even I am visually in the right path and glideslope for wire 2-3. Thanks for advance. The mission I've used all times is the default F/A-18C Case III recovery in the Persian Gulf Map adding to the carrier the Link 4 and the ACLS options in the mission editor. All times the autopilot kept the speed vector below the glideslope bar (as shown in the video). -
Engine breaking after 30 seconds max power.
OLD CROW replied to Gunfreak's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
One thing always freak me out from the simple AI FM is that its one and only tactics is friying your engine performing infinites vertical "Rope-a-Dope"'s where, 99.99% times our model with a complex FM-DM is going to die sooner than their simplier one. Unfare also highly frustrating once you've observed this same AI behavior in other models, jets or piston engine ones: in piston engines you're going to fry your engine and in jets you're going to finally overshoot him. One thing you should always bear in mind once you go vertical is pulling fully back the throttle to idle few seconds before you reach the zenith (point of zero speed and stalling). Also is really good if you anticipate to the zenith and try to put nose down even before your radiator airflow stops or, even worse, goes backwards in your cooling system: you will notice this phenomenon when your nose goes down after the stall and a white smoke comes out your tail (water rad is fried and your engine is going to die in less than 30 secs due a piston breakage). You can do a dumb test hopping on in a Jet and dogfighting only with guns an AI 109 at an initial altittude of 30,000 feets. After that dumb test you will have another holistic point of view how things work in AI terms. -
WE surely never know what he's been doing, but what WE can surely know is what he's not been doing: ASKING. if you use to ask anything his way, please let me know from where are you from.... just to never think in visiting your country.... Sorry Sir I'm a bit lost... How could I get from here to the "awfully" train station? I've never criticized the points what he criticized. What I've criticized is how he's been criticizing: sometimes people missjudge and mix the fact they're free to criticize with the manners used in the critic. Said that I stop this "non discussion" at this point, best for the wealth of this thread.

From its first release in January this mod has been updated 3 times.... and ALL OF THEM FOR FREE. It's a great example like A-4E and T-45 (and many others I ignore they exist), what passionate people can do with an equation where the X is (or at least it seems) not the money in itself. There's milion ways to positive criticize and to say THANKS. One clue: Don't be so naive to believe every official models are a "faithful recreation" of IRL ones.

Once you're in Controls Settings page look out for "Pedal Left" and "Pedal Right", but I strongly recomend you to bind as much as your periferics can afford in axis: cyclic, collective, rudder (pedals in this case) cause flying a chopper is, in a certain way (maybe only in my head), like playing drums: every part of your body does one specific job and different from the others just to balance the bird so in some phases of the flight like Hovering or Landing with the keyboard you're going to loose a lot of sensitivity in moves, so using the keyboard for the rudder is going to make you sweat to keep the bird stable, also can be highly frustrating. Also I can say from personal experience that there's no bad periferic in market (in terms of sensivity), you just only need to expend more time to get the right curves setting.

Only one: RESHADE and it's for free and you can use it in "whatever" game you have installed in your computer. Just google Reshade, install it, check out any YTube tutorial about DCS & RESHADE and enjoy it.

For me those that defog the default smoggy atmosphere (make the air more clean & clear) and a must for debbuging the contact from the background: all kind of sharperners. For colouring some people use colourful, curves,... Diehards even lower the resolution of their monitors due pixels are bigger at lower res, but it's kinda stupid play DCS and watch it like if you were playing "1990 : The Secret of Monkey Island".

DCS takes the simulations too literally to be fun or practical.
OLD CROW replied to gotit's topic in New User Briefing Room
In a certain way OP in her/his own opinion is right. We all are in our home cave , seated and suffering 1G and a few VR user suffering neckache, but nothing remarkable. Same rules for everybody. The problem I've observed thru all my simmer life is when all those physiological handicaps, or I have to say IRL physiological handicaps can be ingame overcome by just pressing some keyboard bings or small levers or buttons in a 400 bugs brand new HOTAS. All that keybinding in a certain way is a "game changer" even in some ways can be considered a cheat that in real A/C's are/were certaintly HANDICAPS that condition/conditioned pilots techniques for mastering the way to fly them. Maybe in most jets those handicaps are well balanced between A/C models and the ingame implementation. But in piston era in where all those overcome handicaps arise remarkably and what IRL models were a handicap now ingame can be even a "game changer". Just an example, from a long list, that some A/C systems are not properly ingame implemented: flaps deployment while in the hot of a dogfight pulling high G's at high speed: ingame you can pull hard your stick with one hand while with the other can press CTRL+F, ALT+F, CTRL+SHIFT+F,.... whatever..... and your ingame A/C inmediatly answers. When you see in your cockpit 2 large wheels below your tiny throttle lever you won't ever realise how difficult was for real pilots actuate those wheels, levers,....while they enter in a combat situation due any physiological handicap.... 109 flaps needs almost 22 full twist to be fully deployed by hand and ingame you only have to keep pressed a joy button for less than 10 secs. Said that, it's nobody's fault: Real life is real life and sim world is just another world. Both have their pros and cons, but IMHO if some specific aspects of some A/C models are methodically implemented ingame, some A/C systems management should tend to be more realistically ingame implemented. I know sometimes it could be difficult or even impossible, but, at least, dev's should have it into account or in case they were having it into account then explain to customers why it can't be implemented that way, as simple (complicated) as that. -
There's a lot of objective, technical and known reasons (also the nowadays 'lack of sense' ingame plane set) by 'them' and 'us' that make warbirds playable for only a very selected 'elite'. So my 'love-hate'-o-meter has been going forth and back for too long.... it depends on the released novelties... or not released ones. But anyways..... Disclaimer: THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINING POST, just giving my humble, dilated in time and personal opinion just to the OP and clarify her/his wonderings and doubs. I attach a few pictures just to clarify I'm not a hater or someone trying to troll.

Is there a "clean canopy mod" for the 109
OLD CROW replied to Rocko's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
If you try in Growlind sidewinder's: NO PROBLEM.... but all the opposite in 4YA one (old SOW). So basically nowadays this is a "diehard" server admins problem: The server admins allow or not allow it. If it were finally modified by ED like the recently Anton's excess of reflections then 100% servers it would pass the integrity check. I'd requested to ED same mod for mustang's glass excess of reflexions like the Anton's. I did it in September- October 2021.... take a seat for the waiting time.... same or more like the carburetor levers solution for a less than 30 minutes working time and in game implementation... -

That solution is going to properly work only in Single Player. In some Diehard MP server you will receive a "Tainted Client message". -

fixed Axis commands for carburetor are missing
OLD CROW replied to PLAAF's topic in Bugs and Problems
Temporary solution to your problem. Open the file in the NOTEPAD or NOTEPAD++ :program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World... \Mods\aircraft\P-51D\Cockpit\Scripts\clickabledata.lua Search for the following lines: elements["pnt_134"] = default_movable_axis(_("Carburetor Cold Air Control"),devices.ENGINE_SYSTEM, device_commands.Button_8, 134, 0.1 ) elements["pnt_135"] = default_movable_axis(_("Carburetor Warm Air Control"),devices.ENGINE_SYSTEM, device_commands.Button_28, 135, 0.1 ) Change the underlined variable to the following and then save the file: device_commands.Button_7 device_commands.Button_27 Once done it, Run DCS, Go to P-51 Controls and choose a Keybind for: -Cold air control to RAM -Cold air to control to UNRAMED FILTERED those 2 Keybinds move the outer/left carburetor incockpit lever - Warm air control to NORMAL - Warm air control to HOT those 2 keybinds move the inner/right incockpit lever Save those changes in your keybinding personal profile, just to keep the ingame changes saved. Unfortunately, til team would add this in any future next update you should edit manually de .lua step every time DCS is being updated. So keep this info localy saved in your computer, just in case you should repeat that First Step. This tip is compatible in SP also in MP environmets. -
