  1. Again, that's the problem. People don't run on DCS time, they run on their own. To expect the entire planet to bow down to your timeline and say nothing at all is, sorry to say, not only arrogant but more than a bit ridiculous and unrealistic.
  2. The problem with all of that is they announce it and they post a really cool video about it and it gets you all hyped up and then nothing. It's been a year since that announcement and video were posted. They sort of created the problem themselves by posting that to begin with. That could have waited until they knew they were closer to the end. The "hurry up and wait" approach has never and will never please anybody.
  3. UPDATE: I finally got TrackIR 5 with the infrared headset attachment bundle. It is light years better than the free OpenTrack / AITrack combo. It's not even in the same class. So for free, sure. The OpenTrack / AITrack combo is cool. It'll do in a pinch. But once you get the TrackIR 5 bundle, you'll kick yourself in the butt for having not done it in the first place. Far, far, far superior in every way.
  4. I had that problem only once on takeoff and landing. I forgot to re-lock the front wheel. I was fighting drift big time on takeoff and on the landing because of it before I figured it out. Once it got going one way it was almost impossible to bring it back. Had me scratching my head for nearly an hour before I figured it out.
  5. Here's the one I did resized to 3440 x 1440
  6. What's more, you can go here to convert any music file you want into ogg format: MP3 to OGG (Online & Free) — Convertio I use Nazi Driver by Soundgarden.
  7. I made it in 2k and it clipped even worse than the original. The original from the game is 2402 x 1080 and it clipped as well. What resolution you're in isn't going to matter I think.
  8. Thank you for sharing that. It's much appreciated. Edit to add: I play on a single 2k monitor and have never like the loading screen image because it's grainy, washed out looking and it cuts off the squadron names on either side of the screen, so I created one that doesn't. Here it is if any of you want to use it:
  9. Thank you for sharing that. It's much appreciated.
  10. And that is not wide open, which means maximum settings on everything. I didn't figure I'd have to actually spell that out.
  11. It's actually 12 years, not 9. You're counting first flight only, not development and production. The Phantom's first flight was in 1958, but was being engineered with the latest technologies of 1952-1955. It also went into production that very same year. The Vigen on the other hand had its first flight in 1967 having been engineered with technology from the 60's, far beyond that of the Phantom, but it didn't go into actual production until 1970 and got some pretty big technological advances due to that as well, so stock vs stock, the Viggen had a big advantage over the Phantom, over a decade's worth. Just take a look at how far video cards, RAM and processors have come in the last 10 years. Can you imagine trying to run this game wide open on a 10 year old computer?
  12. It's still very, very strange not being able to shoot an aircraft directly in front of you. I have to be a good deal below them to be able to hit them, even when I'm within 500 meters of them. It actually seems as though the bullets should be shooting my own nose off they come out at such an upwards angle. In other news: the sidewinders work exactly as advertised.
  13. I'm new to DCS and just bought the F14 Tomcat during the summer sale last week. I've been trying to learn it little by little and just tried the gun tutorial. The problem I'm having is that the gun seems to fire WAY too high at roughly a 30 degree angle above the aircraft. Here's a screen shot: So as I'm coming up behind the big aircraft I'm supposed to shoot down, I have to be way below it to actually be able to hit it. The manual says that I should have my gun elevation (right side panel towards the bottom) set at 53, which it is. Is this normal and something I have to learn to live with or am I doing something horribly wrong?
  14. Whatever size it is, you need to free up a lot more space. On a drive that size, you should always have around 70 GB open. You're never supposed to run your drive with any less than 15% of the drive space open. Presently, you're running at 6%. So if you're having any issues, that's why.
  15. That's odd. I just bought the P47 yesterday. I had two Captain Kangaroo style landings and nothing happened.
