DCS: F-16CM Block 50 by EDSA Discussion Thread

But there is a difference between classified documents and documents not available to everyone. It is classified and not sellable to export, like the HTS pod i don´t see how ED ...will get any rights about it ? -

It has to do with the fact that those systems we are talking about, HTS and internal equipments on dorsal spins ... you won´t be able to reproduce them because they are classified. I said in my first post that i am curious on how they will implement those since you can´t find public data about it. Then you talked about different avionics suites on different F-16 variants. I then just went on about how SEAD is not the only option to go about SAM sites, that because of the lack of HTs pod some countries do go about DEAD. Then you said something about my comment about SEAD abd DEAD and i just answered. But my statement about SEAd and DEAD wasn´t a riddle. -

SEAD and DEAD are different. SEAD is mainly focussing on destroying the Fire guidance radar: If you take the SA-2 for example, the SEAD mission will be to destroy the Fan Song hindering the SAM to fire at you. Or SEAD can also be deceptive in nature, SAM operators on the ground knowing there are HARM shooters in the air they won´t emit. DEAD is going after the whole SAM site, radars, emitters, launchers and support equipment. But for that you need a precise location or to know the area in which the SAM site is. Intel plays a big role and if you can for example extract coordinates for the Spoon Rest radar, you can launch a cruise missile at it. The end result is the same in the case of targeting the Spoon Rest, but the way it is done is different. In the SEAD mission usually you are looking for the SAM site, provoking it to emit and then shoot at it. For the DEAD mission you don´t look at being known to look for it. Let´s take the French Air Force for example. Doing very low level ingress to the target, launching a SCALP missile on the Fan Song coordinates and then let the missile hit the site. In a SEAD mission there can be a mix of both SEAD and DEAD. One element shooting AGM-88´s and the other element targeting the site with SDB´s, Mavericks, or IAM or LGB´s. Cluster munitions work too. At the beginning of a conflict, we can assume that you will see more SEAD and the middle of the conflict you will see more DEAD missions. All what i wrote is based on what i understood and from my very limited experience in combat flight sim. When the F-16CJ got the implementation of more sophisticated weapons and sensors like the SNIPER pod, IAM´s, LGB´s (lasing your own target) and other gucci stuff, they effectively were able to perform SEAD and DEAD. -

Truth is that a lot fo countries do carry out DEAD instead of SEAD. -

The block 50 in the USAF does not use CFT´s. CFT´s can be found on other block 50 variants from foreign countries. -

I am very curious to see how they will implement HTS avionics, since this pod is classified. The HTS pod is not even exportable to foreign countries .... they do SEAD using AGM-88 Harm sensor ... we will see. Excited about the Sniper TGP and the JDAM´s .... maybe some GBU-39. About time DCS gets some up to date toys. -
They all are.
-
But you could buy them ?
-
Please correct me if I am’wrong. But the AXALP exercice is to simulate an invasion into Switzerland and the fighters are practicing strafing on ground targets to protect the population , right ? Wouldn’t it be better with today’s technology to employ LGB’s, IAM’s or even dumb bombs ? Or two they count on the fact that to get to Switzerland by ground you need to cross other countries and they have the means to stop it ? I just would like to understand the choice of not performing the A/G mission with a lulitorle fighter.
-
Anything more advanced than a F-5 is an overkill for the Swiss AF ....? I mean they do t use the hornet to its full potential.
-
I don´t really understand why they don´t at least perform CAS missions ?
-
hmmm, to me it is strange that thez onlz use a Multirole fighter for Air to Air and kinda limited Air to Air.
-
Hello, I would like to know something about the use of Swiss Air Force hornets. Are the Swiss hornets only used for Air to Air ? The only reference for use in ground attack is with the gun during the Axalp exercise. Swiss pilots never train to deliver bombs ? Does the Swiss Air Force even have air to ground weapons for its Hornets ? The Sniper TGP is only use for Air to Air identification ? I am kinda surprised they don’t use smart bombs linge LGBS , IAM’s or Mavericks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Only problem with that is the cumulative video time one maverick can sustain.

So true !

Hahahahaha, good to see you here (spooky)

Hi mower ! Get on the stick and throttle :pilotfly:
-
Magic is the word ... i am going to try some more.
-
Hi Mover .... well i have only simulation experience with anything realted to fighter planes, but i also fly BMS an F-16 simulator and i guess my tendency to use CCIP comes from there. I gotta train more in AUTO mode but i can´t hit anything when using the target as waypoint. I have more success with using the HUD as SOI and place the symbol on the target.
-
How many G’s do you pull during the toss ? And what is your atltitude and speed for level release ? How much wind do you put ? Do you put winds at différents levels with different directions ? And .... when you set the waypoint as target ... do you change the target elevation in the waypoint DATA page ? For example I wanted to target a factory and make au AUTO level release, I went into the data for the waypoint I assigned for my target and it showed 2000 m ... but In the mission editor it showed 121 feet ... so I changed that in the data page, changed meters to feet and set 121. But I still fall short .... i have much better results with CCIP.
-
Using Auto mode with dump bombs is pointless especially the higher you go, winds etc etc ... Auto mode is nice for guided bombs I guess ... CCIP release is much more precise. What are your return of experience ?
-
They actually planned to implement it. FOr CAS missions this would be a must. But i am okay with ED philosophy, we already have plenty to play with.
-
It is in the title. Sounds cool.

Hahahahahahaha :megalol:

Link 16 .... it means the hornet is not the only one to get link 16 then ?
