well, HP having fixed the initial problems does not mean that there never will be a broken unit again. My O+ died three days after it was delivered, such things happen.

Folks, I'm struggling a bit with my Reverb in DCS. Although my have a quite fast PC with a 2018 Ti, all Steam VR stuff recent (beta), correct settings (i.e. those most recommend), motion repo. on, I have a strangly stuttering image. It is alright as long as I don't move my head. But when I do, motion kind of stutters. It reminds a bit of what you get if you enable "Motion Blur" in the DCS settings. The fps generally seem to be OK, though. Any ideas what could cause this?
-
dang, I had SteamVR on beta but not WMR for SteamVR :noexpression: Thanks pal!

********************** What I don't get here is that on this screen my resolution is 1608x1576 is I set the slider to 100%. Shouldn't it be 2160x2160, native resolution of the reverb? What am I missing?
-
If you don't get any image, it's most likely the USB port. On my mainboard, neither the O+ nor the Reverb work with the USB 3.1 ports. 3.0 is fine. The Rift S works with the 3.1 ports, though.

Any real benefit going from 1080ti to a 2080ti?
DthFrmAbv replied to Thick8's topic in Virtual Reality
That exactly is the point and it was mentioned in this thread before. For me the upgrade from the 1080ti to the 2080ti was well worth the money because of the "extra" it delivers in VR. Settings "up" and still more fps. Yes, for a high price, but I don't care. Spent enough money on less useful things in my life. -
nobody knows (yet). They come with a cable clip, the same which already was available weeks ago. It seems to fix the connection-issues, but I really can't call that a *solution*. Regarding the other known issues we need to wait for what people report. Mine is ready to be picked up at the dealer, but I'll wait a few more days.

yeah, wait. Just wait. Tomorrow something great will come. Wait. AMD released a really good CPU architecture, right. That does not mean that they'll be able to do the same with GPUs "soon". It also does not mean that they will release a wonder battery next week, super-tasty instant coffee or the world's best beer. But it's up to you. Just wait, something great will come. -

The Liz thing actually is WAY more likely than AMD kicking out any high end GPU anytime soon. They lost the race against Nvidia a long time ago (and it hurts to say that because I'm a real AMD fan since their 386dx40 days). It may be that AMD will be closer to Nvidia in the future. I wouldn't *wait* for it, though. -

full ack, also just recently got me an ASUS 2080 Ti ROG STRIX O11G, had an ASUS 1080 Ti STRIX O11G-GAMING before. It was on sale on a local shop here so I thought "why not?" I was able to "up" almost all settings (using VR only, currently with a Rift S, awaiting HP Reverb) and still have a much smoother ride with the 2080 Ti. For me it is an absolutely amazing upgrade. The question really only is "is it worth the money?", especially if you already own a 1080 Ti. So if you don't mind the cost, absolutely go for it! -
some actually do launch, but DCS never did here, either.

Force Feedback Joystick Coming soon
DthFrmAbv replied to FoxHoundcn's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
many things do that nowadays. I don't know how (and especially WHY) these markets still work. Everybody's complaining all the time, "I have no money, I don't earn enough, I don't know how to pay my bills" and whatnot. On the other hand "luxury goods" get more and more expensive. So obviously many people are willing to fork out the money for that stuff. I don't really get it.... That FFB-base/stick....I could afford it. I'd like to have it. I won't buy it bcs. the price is ridiculous. -
"Gespeicherte Spiele" und "Saved Games" sind dasselbe, halt je nach Windows Sprachversion.

Actually it is VERY practical to use the hand controllers. I usually just need one, though. In every module there are functions I don't need too often, so I don't map them on the HOTAS. As suggested above VoiceAttack is an option for that. But in the A-10 I use the handcontrollers for starting up and shutting down the aircraft. Also during flight, operating the MFDs is much easier with the controllers. I'm using a motion rig where I've installed a couple of holders for the hand controllers, so no issue placing them. But having one on the lap is no problem, either.

Unless you're using "old style" modules without clickable cockpits, you can use the VR controllers instead. I have no need for any keyboard in DCS (VR) nowadays.

Obviously the relevant point is what settings are used. When switching from the CV1 to the S I had to reduce PD from 1.7 with the CV1 to 1.4 with the S. Back to 1.5 now, looks much better, but also at some hefty performance cost. I also own a O+ which is even more demanding than the S. *I* (<- means ME, right? :) ) can't imagine that a 1070 would be even close to what I want in DCS with VR. My 1080ti is already struggling, to say the least. But other guys may totally disagree, of course.
-
uhm, there is QUITE a difference in performance between the CV1 and the S.
-
It depends on what you expect. The immersion will be fantastic compared to what you have now. But, be aware that: * you need to tune down your graphics settings. Shadows you might even have to switch off with a 1070. That would be an absolute no go for ME. * the image will never be even close to the quality you have now. This is because of your "weak" GPU but also due to the low resolution of the Rift S (compared to a monitor and prolly also to your TV) * spotting ground and air targets will be much more difficult. This also is true for airfields in the distance. * the field of view is *very* limited compared to what you have now Readability of instruments and display will be OK (I don't own the Viggen) but also not as good as you might be used to. Anyway, most people who once tried VR in DCS don't and won't go back. It is such an incredible experience

3. Bei welchem Modul? 4. Es gibt "nur" den VR Zoom, der ist allerdings on/off, nicht stufenlos. Wobei ein-/auszoomen "soft" ist. Das findest Du bei den Einstellungen, Steuerung unter der Rubrik "UI Layer".
-
it depends on what you expect. Yes, higher fps and prolly higher settings, but the price you have to pay for that is ridiculous. I would wait for the next generation of GPUs (which I assume will be even more expensive). As long as there is no competitor for Nvidia, we will have to pay...

there is such an easy fix for the audio thing. Just get a Koss Porta Pro for cheap money and add this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3615447 Fantastic sound, super comfy to wear and no "extra device" to put on your head....

I've recently bought the M2000 and the Red Flag campaign. Havn't spent time on them, yet. Do these changes affect the campaigns and training missions for the Mirage?

well, silence probably means "not anytime soon". I admit that waiting for that patch is annoying (it was announced, so nothing wrong with being disappointed) but asking when-will-we-get-it is pointless, too.
