Barometric Altitude vs Radar Altitude?
Scabbers replied to goldfinger35's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Looks to be a delta indication. With out a track. it is difficult to disect. your delta would be a maximum radalt reception of 5880. SO I am not entirely sure but that is my best guess -
Barometric Altitude vs Radar Altitude?
Scabbers replied to goldfinger35's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Ok I am not an ATC or pilot but I have worked with RADALT and BARALT for awhile. Let me throw my 2 cents in here. The radar altimeter has a low output power and the transmited pulse is calibrated to a maximum range of 5500 feet. The indicator will indicate to 5500 ft and then the out of range flag will display and the needle will max out and stay there. The Barometric altimeter uses a reading from the static tube to read the ambient air pressure to determine altitude in reference to sea level. (0 pressure) The reason for the two is best described as this. A pilot flies along fat dumb and happy at 11,000 ft. He flies into a cloud bank and continues flying IFR. Well he is also flying toward a mountain range. As he gets closure to the mountains the ground begins to get closer to the aircraft. Once the air to ground distance is less that 5500 ft the radalt will begin to display the distance (AGL). Once the needle passes the bug or minimum distance setting the pilot receives a low altitude warning. The GCAS in the A10 will then issue a pull up, pull up command. The reason I posted all of this is for systems familiarity. Maybe this will help. As for your question in reguards to AAA threats you need to do this in your head by reading you altimeter and having situational awareness. The static tube is also intrsumental in continual altitude clabration for the Pitot's air speed reading provided to the airspeed indicator. -
The current A-10C has transitioned from LOX to OBOGS. As long as you have bleed air you have oxygen. and then 30 mins after the loss of bleed air you still have oxygen. would like to see this modeled someday.

no manual i can show at this time. sorry. company rules and such

There is no page in the sim. There is a page in the new R/L A-10 CDU OFP.

The inverter is left in standby for emergency power to instruments in the event of a 2 engine loss in flight. this will enable you to maintain essential systems indications. It also allows quick access to bringing the APU online to try a windmill start in flight. After the left and right engines are online. Set the APU Start switch to OFF and Set the APU GEN switch to off. Leave the inverter switch in standby for the above reason.

anyone have tips on how to aim guided weapons?
Scabbers replied to Arkham's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Arkham besides reading the tutorial in the manual. get intimate with the DMS and TMS china hat. these controls are integral in targeting with your TGP and MAV screens. Also put the mave in forced mode for a quicker (but not always as accurate of a lock) -
** Edited by USER** Response to hog driver is removed.....

Hog driver i am sure you say it but in simplified technical english and in proper grammar. a word with two identicle vowels to make a gerrund should be used in a active voice. So to state taxiing is not a proper word. Gerunds are the most difficult translation issue for the english language.

For EAC map the EAC Arm to your "E" key. it is not mapped to any other binds. Then for this step just hit "E".
-
The ARC-186 is a VHF radio. This step is correct. Could possibly be labeled VHF-1. but that is not really necessary. Taxiing is not a valid word. Here is a revised sentance for ya. "The aircraft can not taxi with out nose wheel steering enabled to control the aircraft."
