Recommended settings for UV26 Flare dispenser
Lobo_63 replied to BaD CrC's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Sounds interesting! Are you using them out of one side at a time or both dispensers at once? -
Legolasindar says: To see cockpit in high resolution you need to set Textures to High. Check out this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35916&highlight=high+res+cockpit This corrected my blurry labels.

Campain - Fam Flight - Rolling over on pad
Lobo_63 replied to Shayd's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I found this: (not specific to the BS) The U.S. Department of Transportation has published a “Basic Helicopter Handbook”. One of the chapters in it is titled, “Some Hazards of Helicopter Flight'. Ten items of hazards have been listed to indicate that a typical single rotor helicopter has to deal with. The unique coaxial rotor design either reduces or completely eliminates these hazards. The following list indicates which: Settling with power - Reduced Retreating blade stall - Reduced Medium frequency vibrations - Reduced High frequency vibrations - None Anti torque system failure in forward flight - Eliminated Anti torque system failure while hovering - Eliminated The reduction and elimination of these hazards are the strong points for the coaxial rotor safety design. -

Campain - Fam Flight - Rolling over on pad
Lobo_63 replied to Shayd's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I had this at first also. I had to go into the controller axis and check that the correct joystick/pedal axis were assigned. I think the game had set rudder pedals assigned for roll. Anyway more than one controller was assigned to roll. End result was a roll over on take-off. Once I properly assigned the controller axis problem solved. -
I have used both Saitek Pro Pedals and CH Pro pedals, found them both reliable, good pedals. I'm currently using the Saitek pedals and have no complaints. My problem with the CH pedals is that they are too narrow. Ch pedals are measured 8" center to center. The Saitek pedals are measured 12 1/2" center to center. After 28 years of flying various a/c in rl my feet find the wider spacing of the Saitek pedals much more natural than the CH. I really think these are both great, functional pedals and it is going to come down to a personal preference.

No Radar warning, no radar guidance, no radar SAMs?
Lobo_63 replied to oho's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I don't know squat about this stuff in reality, and only a little bit in DCS. I do know that based on the amount of times I die in DCS BS, I sure would not want to do this for real. ...and hats off to those who do. -

But you can still carefully peel back the layers of that onion, even with MANPADS and AAA if you have good intel. -
I've tried moving the stick out of the way... makes chopper do funny things.

"there is no point using the hawk systems ect because there is no way of avoiding them, have to leave them out of any maps i build." You can fly right up to the HAWK missile battery and shoot it with your cannon. You just have to stay kinda low. -
Thanks! This indeed works. Not the most elegant way of doing it but it achieves the goal.

Yeah I am thinking no also, just hoping someone could prove me wrong. I Have looked through the manual etc. BTW I am referring to single stand alone missions. I have not tried the campaign yet.
-
Is it possible to save a mission that is in progress? If so how? For example I go and fly a mission, and after achieving mission goals I find more targets. I want to re-arm, go back and attack but it is really, really late/early and I have to go to work next day... can I save the mission in progress and then come back to it at a later date? Thanks.

I am doing pretty much the above. The only thing I would add is that when I am a couple metres above the ground, I shift my view towards the left door window. (the right door has much worse vis) This allows me to see the ground and judge my forward aft sideways movement much better and touch down with near zero velocity. Not using auto hover for landings.

DCS: How to gain performance on Windows Vista (Windows 7)
Lobo_63 replied to eV1Te's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I'm using Jesse's program with W7. Works great. -
Make sure you follow Wombats advice a few posts ago about Ticking "Record 'Black Shark' Flights". After that, your recordings will be in the Black Shark\temp folder after each flight. All I did was: 1) Fly the mission. 2) Open Tacview, click on file button, (just left of the globe) 3) Click open, go to your Black Shark folder > temp folder. 4) In temp folder you will see a file such as "Tacview-20090124-004050.txt" click the file and you are off to the races. It seems with record Black Shark flights ticked it will record every flight you fly. No need to save track files as I previously thought.

I would love to take credit...

It's a great little program. Gives you a graphical representation of your X52 and you can fill in the blanks with whatever you want. Print it and view at your leisure. Thanks! -
Yup that's what I am using. Found it here. http://forums.creative.com/creativel...read.id=135324

FYI In case anyone else is having W7 SB Audigy problems. Black Shark. Windows 7. Sound Blaster Audigy ZS. After loading Windows 7, I ran windows update, (which installed a driver for the Audigy ZS dated 2006). I had sound albeit quieter than normal. In DCS BS I had occaisional crackling sounds and then the sound would cut out altogether. The sound driver that W7 loads for this card is botched. Found this site with an unofficial driver which is made for W7: http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&thread.id=135324 For me this has fixed my Windows 7 sound issues, and my sound in Black Shark is 100% better and does not cut out. :)

I remember playing subLOGIC Flight Simulator 1 on the Apple II in about 1980. Flying accross the great expanse of the grid world. Flying combat against the enemy WWI Dot!... great stuff! Still have my Amiga 500 and F-18 Interceptor (stunning graphics at the time) and Birds Of Prey! I remember pulling in behind the tanker in Birds of Prey, low on fuel, only to have the tanker unexpectedly take an enemy missile and explode right in front of me! :joystick: Awesome sims at the time! Man they have come a long way. Read the reviews here: http://amr.abime.net/review_377 and here: http://amr.abime.net/review_48065 I started flying lessons shortly after, in 1981. Lucky enough to make a career out of it. Now nearly 28 years and 15,000+ hours later I am looking at Black Shark and am absolutely amazed at how far the sims have come. BS is a stunning achievment.

Not sure why but I don't get consistent results when using this track with FRAPS like I do with other .trks...
