  1. Great news, love the Russian birds and the Su-33 is just a sexy minx (or should that be a Minsk? Hehe) . I voted in the poll thread for an update, very happy it is being done.
  2. :megalol: :clap_2:
  3. *nods sagely in profound agreement* Aye, this be true. Just like "Potatoes are always gonna Potate". We need to dig out the wicked roots and dread tendrils of blind Potato based JSF hate and replace them with the 'happy seeds' of F-35 Lightning love. I got chills, they're multiplying. It's electrifying. Speaking words of wisdom.....Let it be. :D
  4. Look in the bottom right corner of your DCS Start-Splash screen, in small type it should read 1.2.4.12913. :)
  5. Aye, downloading now. Mine says 441.1.mb with all modules installed. EDIT: Missing Huey training fixed in 124.12913, sorted. :)
  6. Hahaha, you Fiend! :D Even though I am one of the hapless fools who have just patched before seeing this thread, and forgot to back up.....I'm not going to cry about it, and have to admit that your immense and callous "schadenfreude" cruelty made me laugh. :D Confirm longer loading times with a Samsung 840 Pro Series SSD too. My Huey training has also completely disappeared, with a link to a download which it says is not available yet. Otherwise things seem about the same (apart from Russ language) Oh well. Meh....They will hopefully sort it soon. :)
  7. It's probably because although the UK is the only "Tier One Partner" in development with the US and the primary foreign investor (and AFAIK the only other Air force that as of now are flying them), the decision was made by the flip flopping inept gimps of Govt to change to the F-35B, instead of previously saying F35-A and also flirting with C (till they found out how much it would cost to outfit the new Queen Elizabeth class carriers). Since the UK will not be using the A model at least for now, I suppose its 'technically correct'. Alright by me though as I reckon the B is cooler. It hovers, ffs. :D :music_whistling: I think the UK has even reduced its initial order for the B STOVL model, but god knows what is going on. I give up. :noexpression: Might as well capitulate, its all over. I for one, welcome our new Benevolent and Merciful Chinese Overlords. Great food, on the bright side lol. Mmmmm.....kung pao noodlez.:D
  8. Nice one, just been talking about it on the other thread.
  9. Agreed. There is no "maybe" about it Boris, that's just common sense. The 'hardcore' sim fans all know about it, but the link to the actual Kickstarter should have its own thread and not be buried. I would have asked ED to sticky it for the 2 weeks, no reason why they would not as it obviously benefits them if successful in the long run too. :) Are they advertising it with the likes of PC Pilot and SimHq? I'd be amazed if they are not. Surely it would have been worth the small initial outlay for the exposure and to maybe get 'fence sitters' tempted. I'll make a pledge (if only to one day see an F-35B, and hopefully get to play about with the likes of Stormshadow and Brimstone one day that Viper mentioned hehe). Not the top of my list and I'm looking forward more to the Harriers, but I'm not 'opposed' to this at all either. All good, I reckon. :) I can well understand the scepticism of some regarding fidelity, and it is warranted. However, as much as I do enjoy the high fidelity sim aspects of the likes of A10-C, I am also fully cognisant of the fact that its all "only a game" and quite obviously not reality lol. Lets be honest, we are all overgrown kids pretending to be fighter jocks and ground pounders etc because its a bit of escapism and fun. Most blokes never really grow up *Wheeee! Dakka-dakka-dakka! KABOOM!!!* and we always need our toys to play with....LMAO.Nothing wrong with that, and great fun it is too! :D If they get 70% of it convincingly 'right', that would be ok by me, and I can definitely see some enjoyment in it tooling about with their version of systems like DAS and the AESA radar etc (and especially their implementation of ground radar); personally though I'm far more interested in the likes of Beczl's Mig-21bis and others that require less "guesstimation", and are far less automated and 'old school' hehe. That's just me however, and each to their own! :) Don't understand why anyone would want to wee on the F-35's parade, and as mentioned if you don't like it no one will force you to buy it, or even make you fly against it. Simple as that, really. :)
  10. No worries and Rgr, thought so. My mistake as you clearly wrote padlock and I just saw 'lock' hehe. :) Just tried 'padlock' for the first time and have seen the green crosses and now know what you mean. According to this fella, he reckons it is not possible to remove them as he thinks it is hardcoded. How true this is I have no idea, maybe check 'Lockon files' for a "mod" or a way to edit lua files or whatever, if it is possible. Good luck (yes I can see how annoying it must be too lol.) :) http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2182047.html
  11. It sounds like you are locking up friendlies with the F-15C, you must designate something for "Target Unlock" in control section. Under the F-15C control tab, choose 'ALL', and scroll down till you find it (the controls are in alphabetical order so 'Target unlock' will obviously be further down the list). Its very useful to designate something close by and opposite to what you chose for "Target lock", in order to quickly resolve a mistake or bad tactical decision. IE an up-down HAT combo for example. Offhand, the keyboard default may be backspace for unlock, (not sure, I remember Target lock is enter.) If so, if you press this key under 'ALL' in the F15C control section, it will move to "Target Unlock" immediately and you can designate something better on your setup. Hope this helps. :) EDIT: Ah, just realised you are probably talking about the padlock viewing system, not familiar with that if so. I know you can edit labels etc and someone will be able to tell you better as I don't use them, sorry. With you mentioning a 'cross' I thought it may have been the F-15 symbology for a friendly lock. :)
  12. An excellent and wise decision, you have to give credit where its due and bravo. :) Goodwill goes a long way, and it will be returned. Kudos. "Dis Karma B good, and get dem respec' in da hood. May de coffers of ED o'er flow wit bling....and ting" Spake the Phantom Rasta Sky Buddha of the Caucasus, that I've just made up. *aauuuummm* :D
  13. I have a slightly different vision and dream for DCS meself Zilla, flying Stealth Pigs with frikkin "Ion Cannonz" strapped to their snouts, capable of supercruise and speeds in excess of Mach 2. *sigh* Looks like 'the dream' is on hold, at least for the foreseeable future. :D Seriously though, good update and it bodes well, especially pleased that ATC is being given some much needed attention. I dig the new 'Glasnost' ED information philosophy too.....Makes for happier punters all round (in general, but you can't stop the 'Moaner Lisa's' lol ) . :)
  14. Van Morrison with "Sweet thing", one of the most beautiful love songs of all time in my humble opinion. "Astral Weeks" Classic. :)
  15. Massive Attack, live Moscow. "Babel" "Exceedingly good" -Mr Kipling
  16. Poetry is music, as much as beauty is truth. :) It little profits that an idle king, By this still hearth, among these barren crags, Match’d with an aged wife, I mete and dole Unequal laws unto a savage race, That hoard, and sleep, and feed, and know not me. I cannot rest from travel: I will drink Life to the lees: All times I have enjoy’d Greatly, have suffer’d greatly, both with those That loved me, and alone, on shore, and when Thro’ scudding drifts the rainy Hyades Vext the dim sea: I am become a name; For always roaming with a hungry heart Much have I seen and known; cities of men And manners, climates, councils, governments, Myself not least, but honour’d of them all; And drunk delight of battle with my peers, Far on the ringing plains of windy Troy. I am a part of all that I have met; Yet all experience is an arch wherethro’ Gleams that untravell’d world whose margin fades For ever and forever when I move. How dull it is to pause, to make an end, To rust unburnish’d, not to shine in use! As tho’ to breathe were life! Life piled on life Were all too little, and of one to me Little remains: but every hour is saved From that eternal silence, something more, A bringer of new things; and vile it were For some three suns to store and hoard myself, And this gray spirit yearning in desire To follow knowledge like a sinking star, Beyond the utmost bound of human thought. This is my son, mine own Telemachus, To whom I leave the sceptre and the isle,— Well-loved of me, discerning to fulfil This labour, by slow prudence to make mild A rugged people, and thro’ soft degrees Subdue them to the useful and the good. Most blameless is he, centred in the sphere Of common duties, decent not to fail In offices of tenderness, and pay Meet adoration to my household gods, When I am gone. He works his work, I mine. There lies the port; the vessel puffs her sail: There gloom the dark, broad seas. My mariners, Souls that have toil’d, and wrought, and thought with me— That ever with a frolic welcome took The thunder and the sunshine, and opposed Free hearts, free foreheads—you and I are old; Old age hath yet his honour and his toil; Death closes all: but something ere the end, Some work of noble note, may yet be done, Not unbecoming men that strove with Gods. The lights begin to twinkle from the rocks: The long day wanes: the slow moon climbs: the deep Moans round with many voices. Come, my friends, ’Tis not too late to seek a newer world. Push off, and sitting well in order smite The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths Of all the western stars, until I die. It may be that the gulfs will wash us down: It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles, And see the great Achilles, whom we knew. Tho’ much is taken, much abides; and tho’ We are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are; One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. list=FLtjIUx9At1Z5TE1rV3BCfVA "Watching the Detectives.".....Elvis Costello. Great live performance. :)
  17. The Animals were great, I grew up in the same part of the East End of Newcastle (Walker) on a few sh*thole Council Estates (Daisy Hill, Cruddas Park) as Eric Burdon (great singer). An extremely socially deprived area of the UK. We had f**k all and plenty of it, but we wuz happy. . Thing is, no one seems to care about poverty. We are told that it is not just monetary deprivation, but "poverty of aspiration". These things (and the wealth) will apparently "trickle down". What should they aspire to? To be so called "Right Honourable Gentlemen", in a seat of Parliament, bullsh*t artists, criminals and con merchants who are in fact anything but 'Right Honourable Gentlemen' So much Soul. May she rest in Peace. Amy Winehouse Live....."You know that I'm no good". The Jam.......(Eton Rifles) Otherwise known in Newcastle as......."EATING TRIFLES, EATING TRIFLES!!!!" Howay man, ye call yerself "The Jam", yer just asking for poorly thought out, ill advised Post Modern pudding based jokes. (seriously though, love em) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymrv9S82F6k Pete Wylie with a Stone Cold, Heartfelt Classic which sums up the feelings of all of the Legions of Britons who care about their fellow Man, who instinctively know that no Man is an Island, and know that Instant Karma will always get you. Peace and goodwill to all. "Parental Advisory" though, perhaps "some may find it offensive. " Truth be told, I really do not care. The Ladys not Returning. Thank Christ. Allelujah! "Tramp the Dirt Down", Elvis Costello. Golden Brown...."Stranglers", great tune. :)
  18. Hello Pacetech. :) By "the ILS information is not displayed in the HUD" do you mean that the glide slope error circle is not appearing, and that the localiser beam indicator (K) and glide slope beam indicator (looks like an 'r' ) are not appearing also? Is your VVI absent on HUD as well? Are you certain you are in ПОС-landing mode? If so that is indeed strange. I think there is variation between airfields as to which range the beacons transmit, maybe you are not close enough at a certain airfield? EDIT: (Sorry, scratch that.....if your HSI indicates the beacons have been picked up and glideslope info is available that clearly cannot be the case) Have you tried 'Repair DCS World' which can be found by going to your computer Start menu, All Programs>Eagle Dynamics>DCS World>Repair DCS World (a grey icon). This may help and you may have had a dodgy update-installation (happened to me before). I have no ILS info problem with the Frog in the current patch personally, all info is present as usual. The repair procedure is probably worth a try (and make sure you shut down all anti virus-malware programs etc while doing so as sometimes they can cause problems with installation). BIG EDIT: Pacetech, I'm at home atm and have just did a quick SU-25T landing test with version 1.2.4.12913, and it turns out I am having the exact same problems you describe, my mistake as I have not flown the Frog for a while. I think the last time I flew the Frog was in the previous 1.2.4.12547 version or so weeks ago, when there was no problem. I can confirm it's not just you. :) A repair has failed to fix it unfortunately. I have not looked in the bugs section yet, others may have reported it too. :)
  19. Yes of course, and that's why I thought they might also be push buttons hehe. Come to think of it, might not have been a bad idea though. Two extra Hotas buttons, the more the merrier. :)
  20. Right....that would explain it then. :)Its just the fact that I can push them in very easily as if they were designed as push buttons that made me have a sneaky suspicion it might have actually been by design. Obviously not then, lol. They do a very good impression of push buttons though (especially the flap switch when pressed down). :) I wonder if you can do the same with the boat switch (probably, though haven't tried it) Thanks for info. :) EDIT: Cheers Beaver too. Fellow Toon lad! Alreet man? :D
  21. Or any other sim for that matter? Doesn't seem to be recognised in any sim I have. I'd like to set it for 'gear up/down' for the Hog, as my keyboard is out to the left of me due to lack of space on desktop.....awkward when you want to lift gear ASAP after takeoff. Do you need to make a TARGET script or something? Or maybe it already has some esoteric function in the Hog that I don't know about. I don't think it does though, and that its probably an 'extra'? Cheers for any help. :) EDIT: Just had an idea, there is a button depress function on the flaps switch, suppose I could use that instead, but would prefer to use the china hat depress button really.
  22. Bloody hell.....file under 'grave cause for concern' if it were true. Glad the chap is ok, could have been worse lol. ;D
  23. My first thought was that you were perhaps not using FM frequency...But I don't even know if that is necessary with 'easy comms' settings (never used that). Given that you can hear allied reports, we at least know a radio is on hehe. :) Are you certain you are pressing whatever you have designated as 'Hotas MIC Switch Aft' in order to be on FM frequency? If you have not designated something as such, then that may be the problem. It may also be that you are not on the correct frequency number for the JTAC you are trying to contact? (Usually 30-33 FM). Some more info would be handy, like does it happen in airborne starts too (just wondering if you are trying to 'cold start' the Hog and perhaps not turning the radios on properly). The switch is black on the FM panel and called 'frequency mode dial', and must be set to TR (transceive...meaning you can both transmit and receive) on the left panel slightly to your rear. You will know its the FM panel as the default number setting is 30.000. Hope this helps, sorry if you know this already and that's not the problem. Good luck. :)
  24. Love that song too Killa. Bucking frilliant.
  25. Some great music here Gentlemen, just been perusing the thread. Very good. :) Darkness at the break of noon Shadows even the silver spoon The handmade blade, the child’s balloon Eclipses both the sun and moon To understand you know too soon There is no sense in trying Pointed threats, they bluff with scorn Suicide remarks are torn From the fool’s gold mouthpiece the hollow horn Plays wasted words, proves to warn That he not busy being born is busy dying Temptation’s page flies out the door You follow, find yourself at war Watch waterfalls of pity roar You feel to moan but unlike before You discover that you’d just be one more Person crying So don’t fear if you hear A foreign sound to your ear It’s alright, Ma, I’m only sighing As some warn victory, some downfall Private reasons great or small Can be seen in the eyes of those that call To make all that should be killed to crawl While others say don’t hate nothing at all Except hatred Disillusioned words like bullets bark As human gods aim for their mark Make everything from toy guns that spark To flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark It’s easy to see without looking too far That not much is really sacred While preachers preach of evil fates Teachers teach that knowledge waits Can lead to hundred-dollar plates Goodness hides behind its gates But even the president of the United States Sometimes must have to stand naked An’ though the rules of the road have been lodged It’s only people’s games that you got to dodge And it’s alright, Ma, I can make it Advertising signs they con You into thinking you’re the one That can do what’s never been done That can win what’s never been won Meantime life outside goes on All around you You lose yourself, you reappear You suddenly find you got nothing to fear Alone you stand with nobody near When a trembling distant voice, unclear Startles your sleeping ears to hear That somebody thinks they really found you A question in your nerves is lit Yet you know there is no answer fit To satisfy, insure you not to quit To keep it in your mind and not forget That it is not he or she or them or it That you belong to Although the masters make the rules For the wise men and the fools I got nothing, Ma, to live up to For them that must obey authority That they do not respect in any degree Who despise their jobs, their destinies Speak jealously of them that are free Cultivate their flowers to be Nothing more than something they invest in While some on principles baptized To strict party platform ties Social clubs in drag disguise Outsiders they can freely criticize Tell nothing except who to idolize And then say God bless him While one who sings with his tongue on fire Gargles in the rat race choir Bent out of shape from society’s pliers Cares not to come up any higher But rather get you down in the hole That he’s in But I mean no harm nor put fault On anyone that lives in a vault But it’s alright, Ma, if I can’t please him Old lady judges watch people in pairs Limited in sex, they dare To push fake morals, insult and stare While money doesn’t talk, it swears Obscenity, who really cares Propaganda, all is phony While them that defend what they cannot see With a killer’s pride, security It blows the minds most bitterly For them that think death’s honesty Won’t fall upon them naturally Life sometimes must get lonely My eyes collide head-on with stuffed Graveyards, false gods, I scuff At pettiness which plays so rough Walk upside-down inside handcuffs Kick my legs to crash it off Say okay, I have had enough, what else can you show me? And if my thought-dreams could be seen They’d probably put my head in a guillotine But it’s alright, Ma, it’s life, and life only http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brNby5IFDnA :)
