Increase development efforts to ludicrous speed!

Nav/General: - Waypoint system (You cannot add new waypoints and the existing ones are prone to "corruption" by the TPOD) - Persistent Countermeasurement / MFD config (minor) - Datalink sometimes cuts out and won't reestablish until you have restarted DCS / Reconnected to server - AA: - Radar is problematic, if the target is not coming straight at you, you will end up losing him even inside 20 nm consistently. With the current threat picture of JF-17 and other lethal planes it basically means you have to turn tail and run to reengage later. - Sometimes when trying to go SST from RWS upon pressing TMS UP the TDC will just recenter itself and you won't get a lock, not even go into SAM or anything. This constant shifting of the TDC back to the center is a pain if you want to pick a specific target and ultimately leads you to be way more involved heads down in a tense situation than you want. - Radar EXP mode in RWS/TWS feels still off, but need to confirm that. - Trying to reaquire targets around 10nm with ACM modes is tricky as well, I have videos where I am flying behind an enemy bird for a minute with boresight mode on and it really takes ~55 seconds for it to aquire the target, even though he fills my HUD from time to time. - Gun employment is more difficult due to lack of "higher" EEGS levels and default ammunition not using tracers (despite having tracer effects for everyone else) - Sidewinders won't slew with your helmet unless you fiddle around with the MFD (should at the very least be HOTAS controllable) AG: - TPOD is very much made up just to have something, it slews steerpoints and behaves very different from how it's supposed to be (differential slews individually on each steerpoint).

I just flew a mission where and was impressed with how many times a radar can lose lock at 20nm and then consequently not reaquire. You slew the TDC on the target and press TMS UP and it just resets the cursor to center and you don't get anything. The state of the F-16 is extremely frustrating. And sadly no updates since ages for those core problems.

[UNABLE TO REPRODUCE] Is Dogfight modes realistic?
deadpool replied to ebabil's topic in Bugs and Problems
It's a great plane to fly, but at the moment you will encounter the following problems at different stages: BVR: You want to launch on a formation and want to sort targets with your flightlead: -> https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=256280 EXP mode not working properly WVR/RADAR: Your usecase: You want to use JHMCS or something to lock a target up: -> https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=253449 radar doesn't follow the JHMCS and you need to manually go TMS DOWN/UP all the time until you get a lock. might though also be: -> https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=256266 Also if you fiddled with the radar elevation, that will mess up those things, too. WVR/IR: Good luck trying to get a seekerhead to uncage and properly slide over to where you're looking at with JHMCS. -> https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=254112 WVR/GUN: No proper gunsight. -
How does the SD-10 missile compare to the AIM-120C?

Don't wash the plates off without special treatment. It would eventually melt the icecaps both north and south. -
[CORRECT AS IS] Strange stall behavior?
deadpool replied to Harley Davidson's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Do we have any info on whether the MPO switch can be / was used to get a snapshot advantage or turn lead when otherwise not possible? Again the good old argument would be: If you felt your life depended on it, would this be a viable option in the ranks of scratching, throwing dirt and spitting into the eye in a knife fight? -
MOOSE script package offers a Missile Trainer. I think that is what you are referring to.
-
Steps to reproduce: Setup two planes opposite of each other. Be in NAV mode. Go to MRM with one of them and lock the other plane. Go to DGFT and radar will be turned off and you lose lock. Expected behaviour would be that lock is retained. Just like when being in A/A mode, locking and then going to MRM or DGFT.

Thank you for your information! I only want to add a personal observation here: BULLY7 (2xF16, incl. myself) inbound to support TIGER6 flight vs. hostiles. roughly 43nm distance at the beginning of the call. You switch to TWS go EXP to try and get some sense of the numbers and get some indication on HUD without alerting them. You pass 40nm and leave TWS to reduce radar scale .. then go TWS again. You sort before hitting the 20nm range and fly intercept, get your stuff together, and anticipate pressing that button that will end it for someone else, actually start running through your plan B in your head. You go through 20nm and don't dare remove lock now .. reduce until you have a pK that warrants the tactical situation and you fox. What I notice: the scale for the missile range indication in the HUD would still be at max 40 in that case and that's really reducing the amount of valuable information you see. Don't know if that's a defect if it should scale independently of your radar setting or if your FCS should scale down. I would imagine the former. Please give me some thoughts on that or some RL info. As for the things I could optimise: Reduce radar range to 20nm before the engagement manually. Or delay going into TWS until that point. Both things I would not like doing as they mean I drop lock on a sorted target. BR and thanks for the good exchange, Deadpool

at 80% rpm she starts hovering. Take a clean jet with barely any fuel, have it roll around and look how your guncross moves up when you are just at 10 / 20 / 30 kt ground speed. The nosewheel is center of lift.

wouldn't be surprised if NATOPS just forbids the use of ATC, same with AUTO flaps, etc.
-
At a later point in time if you have free choice of altitude, you can use the ICP button 5 to go into the CRUS page to see optimal altitudes etc.
-
With all that's been written. - Having a fair system all across the board is absolutely fine. You shouldn't start to level a pilot outside the mission. we have that - Having the missions runtime have an influence (stress accumulating, 4g turns to get used to it, etc.) sure .. why not if ED models it flat across the board, low prio - Having the individual aircraft effects on perceived G-load modelled would be higher prio. If the F-16 due to the seat really offers more tolerance, then that should be in. If some aircraft doesn't have an interface for a G-suit or flat out doesn't offer one, then it should have less of a tolerance. etc. medium to high prio - Have nicer visual cues and more realistic effects of oncoming GLOC or straign medium prio

Press "4" on ICP and set up your waypoints using ICP and DED.
-
And you would need that feature to fly with 2 MAVs on a station, right? Which was done - according to people - in Iraq.
-
The advantage you will have anyhow is that refueling using the AirForce-System should go much quicker than with the Navy-Drogues. BR, Deadpool

Didn't the Hornet have AirForce MAVs until the F was developed in DCS? The horror! Just don't stick it on the plane then. Also .. yelling for realism and for enforcing aircraft damage upon using that loadout but how many are honestly flying with random system failures (which certainly do occur IRL. Just see Movers low level flight video where he gets FCS errors). If you want to limit something in your community, do so. You have the options. But enforcing hypothetical damage for all. That's taking it too far. That hybris.
-
The F-16 only has about 2/3rds of the radar cross section of an FA-18 .. so it should still be pretty interesting who detects who first.
-
Those that you want to punish will just work around it by pressing ESC, picking Select role and get a new plane. No failure analysis, no aviate, navigate, communicate, no ejection.
-
Step 1.) Get offended by missing realism of adding the possibility to put a third missile on the launcher Step 2.) Lynchmob mentality outcry to impose just made up chances - without any real foundation -of incidents when allowed in game
