  1. I'm just doing the neglected outdated modules, the p47 is beautiful and the best warbird cockpit yet! I wouldnt dare touch it but maybe 15 years from now lol
  2. Im happy to give you my latest TRUE 4k P51 Cockpit upgrade. Every texture has been upscaled in 4k, refined and color adjusted to suit the modern DCS lighting best (i swear it was dcs 1.5 standards). Please keep in mind the P51 is very old and needs some serious core improvements.... that being said this cockpit is still significantly improved compared. PLEASE FOLLOW THE SIMPLE README INSTRUCTIONS OR IT WILL NOT WORK (ITS EASY PEASY). Download here and enjoy! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1qhvhxR-nJDJnn6PBPV31OfTf4BLVOMZy/view?usp=sharing Dont forget to check out my Dora and 109 4k Overhauls are also available!
  3. My p51 cockpit is done, gunna post it soon
  4. thanks for your input, i didnt do anything to the pedals/leather/mipmaps other than upscale and refine so im not sure, probably shine more because the cockpit is darker/more contrast. Pato's is good but the baked lighting shine around the panel gauges and parts looks not so great especially when moving your head in VR, plus no details on the floor of the cockpit and even though it is technically 4k many of the textures details are still in 2k quality. Realistically i dont think youll be staring at your feet or rudder pedals while flying lol but to each their own
  5. instead of watching a 6 minute instructional video for that last requirement........... Go to this link https://my.hidrive.com/share/lwer0.o024#$/DCS_mods/saved games folder - mods - tech ......SELECT ONLY DX514 AND TANGO.....download place in your savedgames/dcs/mods/tech folder as usual
  6. SO COOL! thanks
  7. honestly i just set the wingspan of the target, adjust the range to where the reticle is the width of where i like to usually shoot at the target and call it good....haven't noticed any issues but it would be nice to fix this
  8. Unfortunately i cannot fix this nor will ED likely be able to via texturing. I scaled the range indicator to meters but obviously the texture of the range indicator is now 3x the length and wont fit nor work properlynull. Heres a side by side scaled comparison...what i can try to do is scale the gun convergence accordingly in the FW190 default description but this is new territory for me any recommendations appreciated
  9. Absolutely, I chose black because its what I saw in photos, brown very much couldve likely been used depending on who made what, if it was replaced etc etc though id expect the brown leather to be much darker than the stock d9 cockpit.... by this time in the war cockpits have german cockpits have also gotten much darker, it was all about glare reduction. Even the standard RLM 66 paint used has inconsistencies from plane to plane, so there is plenty of room for interpretation :). That wood instrument panel however had to go, I could not find a single record of a dora using a wood panel even with the material shortage during that period, also looks like balsam wood lol with grains that widely spaced that thing would disintegrate after a minute of it shaking like that haha
  10. The color was black according to D.(Luft)T. 5009 (Fw 190D-9 Handbook). and cross referencing real photos.
  11. i'm sorry for that every plane has its own needs lol, also I did remove the white writing around the speed indicator and updated the google drive file... it was a last minute thing so apologies but ill continue to update that file and you can redownload at your convenience :). Ill add that in this post as youre not the only one that had to use this path Heya sorry had to make a last minute adjustment and remove the white writing around the speed indicator please re-download for that updated version.... hope you enjoy!
  12. I put about 16-20 ish manual hours? Upscaling is easy, refining each line not so much so I used AI specifically for that and it did a great job. But redoing the floor and correcting mistakes i had to do myself and it took a while.
  13. I'm happy to give you my overhauled dora cockpit! Some things that were done All textures were upscaled to 4k, every line and detail were sharpened and refined Colors were corrected. Cockpit corrected to late war RLM 66, main instrument panel texture(including normal map and roughmet) were redone from wood to metal with a historically accurate Bakelite tone...great for absorbing light and reducing glare. Leather and main instuments changed to black for historical accuracy Dirt added where it should be as the cockpit was sterile and ready for a heart transplant operation Light bleed anomaly behind the rudder pedals greatly improved to a smooth transition Again too large for for the DCS userfiles but you can get it off my google docs install pathway is in the main DCS install ie. ?:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\FW-190D9\Liveries\Cockpit_FW190D9 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IpGvg4JFiL39h_F0CM8NlE_eVvl9vgFJ/view?usp=sharing @MiGCap1
  14. yeah and use brown leather and a wooden instrument panel lol. but its all good im havin fun messin with it...... im gunna post the dora skin now
  15. I hope it lives to the hype... for those curious of what ive been doing heres and example of the Dora's headrest... upscaled and refined. Its a subtle difference but very noticeable in the big picture and brings new life to these neglected birds
  16. the dora is next
  17. Hiya folks been working hard on getting the k4 cockpit up to par as much as humanly possible with obvious constraints and limitations of this old DCS bird but I am pleased to give you proper cockpit mod. Here's what I've done Every texture was upscaled to 4k, then every single line, scratch, wood grain, edge was refined to 4k standard giving a much sharper image. Colors were corrected to historical late war RLM 66, with aid of research and AI. In game shade and direct sunlight were cross referenced for honing in proper lightness and hue Revi 16b Gunsight changed to more plausible black configuration along with historically accurate base mounting plate and mounting bracket being in the correct color configuration Cockpit floor was basically redone from scratch. Panels, rivits, dirt, oil, wear and tear were added carefully cross referencing historical photos Please keep in mind this is what I produced with the most available data and a super smart robot that talks to me. It was not uncommon for pilots and crew to modify parts and use paints to their liking which is why you almost never find a 109 cockpit that looks the same even if its the same variant. Obviously being 4k the file is too large to upload to the user files section of the DCS website so here's a download link...... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BbPf3NWLRkW50KoQ27-7Up6i8hiKHFgS/view?usp=sharing Please note i have corrected the flare gun since these screenshots
  18. ***crickets**** Seriously though they don't look to far off from spitfire pilots just copy it over like ya did with the gunsight
  19. Thank you! Yes I mapped force trim on/off the proper mapping is "Force Trim Interrup" thank you thank you thank you!
  20. I will test this out now! I use a microsoft FFB 2. I know its outdated but it works great for every module except this and the chinook which ED got back to me saying it will be modeled. I know FFB2 is nearly an antique but its so nice to feel when youre in a stall, hydraulic fluctiations, true trim haptic feedback, pylons loading and the list goes on and on.
  21. No longer supported, it's on the devs to implement it but as ED team stated...wip nuff said ill wait
  22. I have the same issue, completely unplayable on GF servers. Im dreading having to uninstall and reinstall almost 1TB of stuff lol
  23. When you enable the trimmer, Just like in real life you lose the stiff resistance of the stick (for a traditional spring joystick it would feel as if the springs in your joystick disappeared), however when you release the trimmer instead of the stick staying in the position you had it and regaining resistance, the the joystick re-centers as if you hit the trimmer reset. The stick should stay where it is when you take it out of trim, not snap back to center position. So essentially no functioning trim with a springless force feedback stick . The only workaround I found is to get your aircraft at the pitch/roll and speed you want it, enable the AI auto-flight then take back controls. This essentially does what the trim is supposed to do but again the joysticks stays in the center but at least it keeps the pitch and roll where you want it. This is properly modeled in every other helicopter module, please keep in mind there are no springs in a force feedback stick it is controlled with an electromagnetic motor, and is a much more accurate representation when properly modeled.... I.E. If i trim nose down on an aircraft you can watch my joystick slowly creep forward by itself, creepy and cool.
  24. There is no Force Feedback modeled for the chinook in my Microsoft FFB2 joystick. Because my joystick has no springs and runs using an electromagnetic motor it is virtually impossible to fly with the stick 100% dead and certainly renders the trim completely useless. Folks I know its an old joystick but its modeled for every other module in the simulation. Don't knock it before you try it cause you can literally feel the air baffling on the wings before the stall, air speed relative to stick stiffness in WWII planes, differences in stiffness for different planes, hydraulic fluctuations, Trim positions, armaments being placed on the pylons, the immersion list goes on and on making it undesirable to go back to typical spring setups
  25. @Gunfreak Yessir..... I've seen rockets, mortars, AT4s and missiles impact in real life, sometimes was on the receiving end. They are WAY TOO BIG, and WAY TOO MUCH FIREBALL. Hell I don't even think I've ever seen any of them even have a visible fireball or flash during the day time. Just a bang and a cloud of smoke and dust. It's really my only gripe about immersion breaking effects. I'm not sure how many people here have actually got to play with this stuff in real life.....But OMG would it be awesome if they could be the first to make it look actually real. Those DCS guncam youtube vids would be a lot more convincing lol
