  1. If you are interested in that line of work, I higly recomment Ed Rasimus - "Palace Cobra". Its a first hand account and a little more mature than Hampton, but not too much, since both are fighter pilots. Difference Ed Rasimus did actually fly in Vietnam.
  2. Updated first post.
  3. In my experience in 1.2.6 as JTAC in MP campaigns with up to 12 active players, you cannot give more than 3 ground groups orders to move at the same time. If you command more than 3 groups at the same time, serious lag happens and players start loosing connection. So in my opinion CA should be playable in MP before anything else. At the moment CA is nice for FACing or JTACing in a very close-looped scenario and kind of a tech demo, but nothing more.
  4. Hey Stonehouse, I am amazed that you still have the energy to keep my piece of junk-script living. :) For me it was an experiment, how far I could get with my idea and at some point,I just had to stop, where the effect to effort ratio approached the zero point. At the end of the day I realized, you can get fairly randomized fighter intercepts with triggers and ingame solutions in far less time. And since I only play closed cooperative campaings, which are highly controlled by ATOs, SOPs, ROEs, SPINS and other strange words, I myself found little need for the script at all. For someone professional or with a background in scripting, I guess it would be best to start from the scratch. But then again, thinking about the hundreds of hours you spent (and I already spent about maybe 200hrs work and more testing into this) I feel a little guilty since I started this and so I honestly have to say to you... The time spent on this is not worth the result, better go out, enjoy the sun, have a quality time with your friends and loved ones, is time far better spent. You never know, what happens tomorrow.:smilewink:
  5. Yes, hopefully. What is morst important, that you get the airfield IDs. Since the NTTR does not have so many airfields, this should be not too difficult. The ID is written in the mission-file if you place an aircraft on it with ramp start. So you basically just need to place an aircraft on every airfield and open the miz-file and note down the IDs. Then you need the exact name of the airfield as its defined within DCS. If you are lucky it is ecactly the name as in the Mission Editor. Might be worth a try. Both were available for the old map, but for the new, someone has to find out. :)
  6. Actually I am surprised something happens at all... The airfield IDs are hardcoded and based on the Georgia map. So it should really not work with NTTR. You need to modify the list of airfields and their IDs, then you could try again and get a little closer. ;) I have currently actually little time and even less interest in scripting. The little spare time I have left I have spent on something less troubling... ;)
  11. I cannot tell this way, please post your miz-file. :)
  12. Nochmal ein Bump für Interessenten morgen abend. :) Zu zweit sind wir schon.
  13. Hey Pete, Mit tbd meinte ich "to be defined".
  15. You might want to check this topic: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=148304
  16. F-15C seems to have improved handling and thrust characteristics in 1.5 compared to 1.2.6. Members of the squad I am part of tested F-15C vs Su-27 in gunzo fights in different regimes (speed, height, loadout). Our subjective impression was that, while in 1.2.6 the Su-27 had the upper hand in a slow speed turning fight/minimum radius at low altitudes, this was very difficult in 1.5.1, where the F-15C seemed to be superior even in the slow speed regime at all tested altitudes, not to speak of high speed/max. turn rate comparisons.
  17. There is no crosswind for the plane. It moves relative to the air mass and the air-mass moves relative to the ground. The last one movement is what we call wind. Once in the air, the plane moves only relative to the air and therefore relative to the ground.
  18. But it should not. A plane in the air is like a fish in the water. Neither ones dynamics should be effected by the current for non-transient situations. PS: MBot was faster... Post is referring to chaos`post.
  19. On the ground, sure, but flying the plane should only react only to the dynamic change of flow or turbulence, which is not really modelled in DCS AFAIK. Or did I miss something?
  20. Maybe you can upload the *.miz file, so it is possible to check. I cannot promise anything, since I have little time at hands in the moment in the next 3 weeks, but maybe some other kind sould finds time to help.
  21. In the original Flight Instructions Manual 280-300km/h is the touch down speed.
  23. Hey Stonehouse, your endurance is amazing. Great you keep this going. Concerning the groups just heading off into infinity, I also experience this with ground units at some point, even with not rdynamically generated ground groups, (just default ground groups put into the mission directly via ME, not directly related to any scripts. I do use MIST, IADS, MEDEVAC, CTLD etc but they are not linked to the groups, which just move to a random point in the corner of the map) so I don´t think it is directly related to the CAP/GCI script, but a side effect of something else. This has been an issue since the very beginning.
  24. Why do I have to repeat myself? Just test yourself, we are not talking about static/sustained level flight, we talking about the dynamic/zoom height.
  25. That's what I wrote, a dynamic climb to 23km and a certified service ceiling of 18km as stated in the books. Generally the high altitude performance of most DCS planes changed drastically in 1.5 in my subjective opinion and 29km is not 23km. But if no feedback is wanted, it`s ok, go ahead.
