"Batumi Breakdown" - A few missions...
SNAFU replied to SNAFU's topic in User Created Missions General
Thank you for the update! Very appreciated. ED did not post the readme or change-log of the patch 1.0.2 here in the english forum? I only found some kind of sticky in the russian forum. -
"Batumi Breakdown" - A few missions...
SNAFU replied to SNAFU's topic in User Created Missions General
:poster_oops: Sorry for this question, but I could not find any sticky regarding changes of patch 1.02 and I am in the office right now with little time, but was wondering if the old missions built with 1.00 and their triggers are still working with 1.02? Is their any sticky somewhere with the changes of the patche 1.02? Just resurrected this cold, dead fred, didn´t want to high-jack someone´s discussion and it´s surely stated somewhere, just got to many hits in the search and a sticky would be really helpful... :helpsmilie: -
*** Official ED Campaign Creation Competition ***
SNAFU replied to Arne Anka's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Nice idea, Anre Anka. But I doubt you will find many volunteers for that as long as the placing of units is as it is now in the ME, only pain. I for myself have a job and a real life, and my maximum sparetime is in average 30minutes per day, and I won´t spent these few minutes getting angry about digital units that don´t want to be placed where I would like them to be placed. ;) As soon the ME has become somewhat efficient, and you don´t spent hours and hours just starting game, klicking through units, end game, move units, repeat again, to find out, that you better use the other area for your idea... ;) ... then I think we will see more and more missions. -
Setting up Teams in Mission Editor?
SNAFU replied to pfrabott's topic in User Created Missions General
I have the feeling that pfrabott means something else. You have to put the nation which you use for the UH60s in the same coalition you are in, to have them as allies, thats clear. But once defined coalitions (Team Red=Russia, Team Blue= Rest of the World as it is default methinks) for one map cant be changed for an existing mission afaik. Hopefully that will be changed some day. Maybe you can shift the nation you used for the UH-60s to the red (I guess you fly Red with your Ka-50) side by opening the missionfile in the notepad and tinker there around, but I personally found no way to change coalition members for exisiting files. -
Ok, but you have mechanically attached pumps and the pumps you control via the pumps switches in the cockpit are only booster pumps and not the only means for fuel flow. I don´t know the fuel system of the Ka50, that´s why I am asking. ;) And sure you don´t want any cavitation in the fuel lines, especially with high flammable jet fuel.
-
Is that sure? Are you talking about suction at the injection needles or to the shaft/gear attached pumps, and the switches in the cockpit are only for the prime booster pumps? I don´t believe a high performance axial jet turbine without proper injection of fuel into the flamechamber (only suction due to hydrodynamic pressuredifferenz in the chamber) will provide enough power to keep a 11ton helicopter flying. Not to mention the difficulties in governing the turbine and compressor revolutions and available power output at the shaft, without any effective meaning of controlling the amount of fuel provided to the flamechamber.

Night mission building help needed
SNAFU replied to Ramstein's topic in User Created Missions General
No, if you give the AI waypoint with "beginn loop" it repeats circling and dropping flares until its pods are empty. SU25 drops f.e. 5-6 double flares each time and can provide you with about 10 minutes light, depending on your waypoints/ looppoints. But as mentioned the frame rate drops slightly, not as bad as an intensive ground battle, but you will notice it. -
Night mission building help needed
SNAFU replied to Ramstein's topic in User Created Missions General
For the flares I used a SU-25 AFAC with the Flare pods, don´t know the name of the weapons. Give the planes some height and speed and a pinpoint-attack on the location where you want the flares. Try a little with the approach / ingress and it should do it. I recomment 10km approach and 4km height and a loop function for the pinpoint attack and the ingress point. -
I wish ED would provide us with a dynamic campaign ala Falcon 4.0, than I wouldn´t care much what I would fly. I would even enjoy flying into battle in a Piper Cup, as long as it modelled in BS fashion. ;)

"Batumi Breakdown" - A few missions...
SNAFU replied to SNAFU's topic in User Created Missions General
Yes you are right, at first I tried *.ogg files but found there is not so much difference in size, sinze I used the lowest sample rates for Waves possible in my program and the waves were easier to mix with other ambient sounds. At first I also made different picuteres for the single and multiplayer missions. Finally I decided that the missions are more suitable for singleplayer and focused on this mode, due to the sometimes appearing difficulties with the activation of sounds in mulitplayer missions when mission starts, which I have not understood till now. I also tested the missions in multiplayer mode but not that intensive as in singleplayer mode due to obvious reason that the right test pilots are not always at hand, and test sorties were limited to a few flights in the end stage, so I really don´t know what all might happen in the mulitplayer coop-missions. But maybe you find out. ;) The files are around 2-5 MB if I remember this correctly, took some time to transmit, but were playable for my 16MB conneciton. -

Moin Hausdiesel, what`s your payload? Fully loaded you might get some difficulties, although it is possible using only 50% fuel, but you have to fly faster. Having only Vikhrs and max combat fuel you should have no problems. You don´t need Anti-Turbine-Inlet Icing system activated, that gives you a few kW more. ;) At least I rarly had problems with icing, only 2 times out of 20-30 test flights. -

Anyone more tried the missions and could give me some hints? I am about to start continue my little story, as long as patch will be delayed, mostly for my self, but some inspiration could be nice... ;) -

Huh, I used my 50MB-Webspace-for-free-Account from Arcor. Seems they didn´t appreciate the traffic I caused, and blocked my account. Unfortunatly I have no other webspace at hand, that could host these two files. It was around 20MB, if I remember that correctly. Maybe someone has any idea, I am not so familar with all this file-sharing etc. -

"Batumi Breakdown" - A few missions...
SNAFU replied to SNAFU's topic in User Created Missions General
Due to my limited spare time I am not able to test the missions more deeply, so I depend on your comments to improve them. ;) -
Here you can download a few missions a wrote for my self-entertainment. I started in december last year, with getting to know the editor - try and error. I had the idea of building a few story based missions for me and my squadmates from an virtuel IL2 online-squad. Actually I planned to built 12 missions, beginning in the northern region of Georgia, and ending in the south - thats why I named it Batumi... Well, I only finished the first 4 by now, and due to the fact, that it is not sure, that these missions will still be playable with the new patch, which should be released somewhat soon, I decided to stop here with the story and campaign and continue with Part 2, when the patch was released. With the storyline of the missions I try to put the player into the role of a russian Ka-50 pilot, doing his duty along the russian-georgian border line, who gets thrown into a slowly escalating small-scale conflict between a some russian occupation forces and georgian insurgents, assisted by the georgian army. I tried to put it all into a story, which develops and leaves space for your own imagination. Finally the pilot has to obey orders, without knowing, who is wrong, who is right and finds himself embedded between old rivals and new friends. I had a lot of fun recording the voices, even though I would starve, if I have to earn my bread with this kind of business. Anyway, nevermind my english or the few insider jokes, I brought into the soundfiles. There will still be some minor bugs in the missions, and maybe multiplayer is not really playable due to performance issues and sound mixes. I spent a lot of time tweaking and testing, but I put my main time and work into the singleplayer missions. I would recoment a fine PC with Vista, especially for the 4th mission, but maybe it is not needed. Well, anyhow, you should be able to fly in the night with zero visibility and nasty winds, you should be able to put coordinates into your ABRIS and PVI and should be able to read and understand english a bit. The missions are not really difficult, but I would not call them easy either. Don´t expect to succeed the first try. Escpecially the fourth missions is a little bit challenging, and finally took me about 10 tries to complete it successfully, even knowing exactly what to do, what to happen. So, don´t get too frustrated too soon, but I guess you will not, if you spent your spare time with DCS Black Shark. ;) If you play these missions, please write me your opinion - report bugs, hints etc here. Thank you! Here you can download the missions, playable for 4 players in Coop-style. Respawning is rather useless, because the ways are long and the objectives demand are certain time frame. Here you can download the singleplayer missions, packed together as a campaign, so not to mix up the correct order in which the missions should be played. Here are some images I painted for the missions- briefing: Missions created with version 1.0, some triggers might not work with 1.0.2, I will test them again, when I find some time.

Activiating a Farp.. Help, what am i missing?
SNAFU replied to MadTommy's topic in User Created Missions General
Looks like nobody had any idea what went wrong, or nobody had time/will to take a look, or maybe both? Guess I have to bury the idea of freed FARPS for MP missions... 8) -
Jepp, I read that too, but I cannot image ED wants their own campaigns and missions to be unplayable, due to the fact that all the sounds and messages have gone to r** sh*t. And I cannot image, that there is someone at ED with so much time left to rework all the previous missions, so I hope the old action tools will still remain somewhere in the programme.

Activiating a Farp.. Help, what am i missing?
SNAFU replied to MadTommy's topic in User Created Missions General
Here the mission file. http://home.arcor.de/snafu78/BlackShark/Roadwar4vs4.miz As I wrote, the mission is a head to head team match (4vs4) but doesnt work that good, due to the FARP problem and that the second attack convoys usually get stuck at the remains of the first attack convoy. But the mission can be used as a template, and I will try to transfer all the happenings into the plainlands, where the vehicles dont depend on the roads. Would be great I someone with profound knowledge of the editor would open the mission and take a look. Maybe I did something wron. Problem: Host can refuel, rearm at the FARP after the necessary units are activaeted. Other clients dont have that problem. -

SNAFU replied to MadTommy's topic in User Created Missions General
I would like to come back to that offer, when I am home again... ;) In my test other clients could use all the stuff, refuel and rearm and talk to the controller CP of the activated vehicles. Only me, the host in a client seat, couldn´t. Did you self try to rearm? -
I hear you Dusty Rhodes, I now spent a large part of my sparetime of last the last 3 months building a campaing. Its a lot of fun tinkering on the missions and testing them, but I hope some day I can finish the 12 missions I planned and will still be able to play them. ;) The first 3 missions are ready. Think I spent about 20 hours per mission and the 4th is about to find its final shape, but I dont want to hurry because there is a patch upcoming on the horizon. ;)

Sorry if this question was asked before, i didnt find it... Does anybody know if missions built with 1.0 are still playable with 1.x ?

Activiating a Farp.. Help, what am i missing?
SNAFU replied to MadTommy's topic in User Created Missions General
Sure! ;) No radio issue here... Had no problems with FARPS, where the supply units are not activated by triggers and where no unactivated or no destroyed enemy ground units are near FARP, till now.
